How far up conspiracy lane do you have to be to believe its a fucking hoax, we have clear fucking evidence that we can wave in front of your eyes and still all you see is a podcast of a guy in his basement telling you "climate change is not real, read between the lines, the Bilderberg group is still a thing, RRRrrreeeeEEEEEeeEE!"

You sound denying, could it be because you are trying to protect your fragile mind from the fact that a romanticized idea about the world is actually bullshit and that you have been mislead this whole time, so now you keep protecting it because you cant handle being wrong.

look at china, the smog seen from space should be a pretty positive indicator of human caused climate change look up how many ppm (parts per million) of carbon there is in the air today compared to just 10 years ago, it's a huge difference, it's also the highest in history to date
>>
>>729762909
there are a myriad of progressive options, however:
>instant perfect solutions do not exist and arent as easy to create as you seem to think.
>options that we have now are OPTIONAL and people dont want to take the time, effort, or cost to implement them (especially the businesses benefiting from other means)
>business giants being the way AND whining "mah jobs!" and other such shit.
>people still choose to live shitty lifestyles.

they cant do it for you, they can only try to find solutions and offer them. and if the people choose to destroy the planet, it should be up to governments to impose whatever regulations they can to prevent that. regardless, there are still dipshits out there saying "its not a problem, and we arent doing anything wrong."

>>
>>729762909
The "smartest we have" can only do so much. To fix this would take years for one, would require just about every scientific genius there was, and a stupid fuck trillion of dollars or whatever gay currency you use. A project this big would require a national effort maybe even a global one. How can anyone do that when they are just trying to get stupid people to understand what's happening?

I won't deny global warming. Hell I wouldn't even deny we're the cause of it. BUT What I WILL deny is that we have the power to do anything about it and I WILL deny that the human race will be the end of the earth. Compared to the age of the earth, humans have only been here for a blip. We're gonna be here today and gone tomorrow like may flies. Also don't look towards the US to be the front runner on saving the environment. We're the most pro-war nation in the world. We're too busy bombing the shit out of other nations to care about saving the environment. Anyone who thinks we can save the environment is a fucking retard. That is all.

Negative and Positive feedback loops, melting "permafrost", deforestation, ozone forming at or near surface level rather than way up high thanks to CFCs, chemistry, not being able to tell the difference between global warming and climate change, the ease at which burning coal can provide power and the ratio of power obtained versus other methods, the burning of natural gas before anyone knew you could use it to make energy, the continued burning of natural gas even though you can use it to make energy, methane in the atmosphere, weather patterns being screwed up by the amount of ice being added to the hydrosphere thanks to changing temperatures, the rising ocean level increasing the amount of dark ocean that can absorb more sunlight and get more hot in the process, people wondering how come there are more hurricanes, droughts, floods and the like in spite of how wind works and how hot oceans might make more wind.

There's a lot, but climate change today is mostly a human factor. You can't tell me acid rain doesn't exist, because that's a byproduct of one of the steps that leads to climate change. It's one of the primary reason smokestacks were built to be extremely tall, so the acid rain didn't fuck everyone nearby over. It'll just fuck someone else somewhere else, over.

But, people don't even understand science anymore, and treat it as a body of thought instead of a method of discovery. It's all a mess. Soon, most of us who survive will stand with the newfags as we live in a world that'll be hot, orange, and thick.

The earth is 7 billion years old. That's the equivalent of 93,333,333 lifetimes (if you live to be 75). So it's been here 93 MILLION lifetimes, to put it into perspective for the retards. Since people can't grasp the concept of a million lifetimes, just multiply retarded times 93. Ok now we are getting somewhere.

So, we think that we are SOOOO dangerous as a species, that in the last 50 years of the past 7,000,000,000 years, we have doomed ourselves and the future of the planet.

GET. THE. FUCK. OUT. NORMIES.

>being this edgy
we can do something about it, it is just going to take a long time to reverse the things we've done, for instance we have to completly abandon fossile fuels and move toward clean energy, china has already this year invested 2.1 trillion in clean energy and in 2020 will more than likely surpass the US in energy output, btw in order to stay on top you have to keep everyone below you... that just how it works, if we stopped involving ourselves overseas we would be obsolete in a matter of decades but that's just history...

Human interaction could be coincidental on the time line. For all we know, all this climate change is because we're going through a pole shift.
correlation does not equal causation.

It's actually very poor science to state automatically that humans are the cause because it correlates in time.

There is no test set.

It's bullshit. Man isn't causing the fucking climate to change. If you study the people who are pimping that theory, you will quickly discover that a lot of the "climate scientists" are paid shills who doctor the data to fit the narrative of the elites who promote this nonsense. Look at some of the raw data, the climate is constantly changing throughout history. It's cyclical, and we are in one extreme phase of the cycle.
>>
>>729763992

We couldn't possibly turn the earth into "just another space rock" The earth's surface is made up of 70% water. That is all you need to promote life. Even if you chop down all the trees. the world will just make new ones. Just ask the alligators that have been here longer than trees according to science.

Human beings contribute around 4% of the total CO2 that's currently in the environment. Given the fact that solar and volcanic activity has either tapered off or remained consistent, scientists believe that the extraordinary spike in warming (~10 times the average rate of warming after a cooling period) must be largely caused by anthropogenic activity.

Now, of course the planet's climate has been fluctuating for millions of years, and there has been unusual spikes of warming in the past (due to huge volcanic explosions), but that doesn't mean there's nothing to be concerned about. The fact is, the large spikes in warming have been very destructive and caused mass extinctions.

If you're ever wondering why the vast majority of Republicans are either skeptics of deniers, just follow the money.
https://www.opensecrets.org/industries/summary.php?cycle=2016&ind=E01

Unfortunately, these things are nearly impossible to prove with 100% certainty, and so sometimes we have to settle on " beyond a reasonable doubt". And make no mistake, the VAST majority of scientists in the relevant fields believe that it's a major concern -- personally, I'd rather put my faith in people who actually study these things for a living, rather than politicians, lobbyists and bloggers.
>>
>>729764263

You're right, you're not smarter than them.

Because you seem to think that magic exists, and everything can be fixed in a whim and is not steeped in several independent scenarios all giving life to tangents of their own.

Ever wonder why we don't just go to the moon? It's because the majority of the people who got us there are dead, and they never really wrote any of that stuff down. Just because we've gone there, and think we know how to get there, doesn't mean we'll just magically get there. It takes engineering. It takes extreme precaution, and precision. It takes trained individuals. It takes money. It takes the authority giving it the green light for it to even exist.

And even then, something can go wrong.

"Climate Change" isn't a hoax. It's very much a fact, our climate has changed throughout the history of the planet. Man-made climate change to the degree that these government-paid scientists promote is bullshit. Can man impact the world around him? Absolutely. As the alpha species on Earth, it's only natural that we have some kind of impact on our environment, and you see that in the rate that some species are going extinct. We've absolutely had an impact on our planet to a degree. Are we causing our planet to enter some sort of out of control death spiral where we are going to be Venus in a couple of decades? No. The reality is, we are at the mercy of the Sun and the effect it has on our planet. It's not unprecedented, the universe had thrown all kinds of shit at Earth, and while the planet has been fine, the creatures living on it are often fucked by what happens around them. Extinction Level Events are actually shockingly common if you think about it. There are so many things that can and will happen over the course of the history of Earth. We as a species have seen them happen before, and at some point, it's going to happen again. It's just a matter of time.

what animals in that 93 million lifetimes conquered the planet and changed the surface? humans have only been on the earth for ~45000 years, have you seen that in the last hundred years more animals have went extinct than in the previous thousand? that was caused by us destroying ecosystems due to our overpopulation, have you ever seen what happens to deer when they are overpopulated and eat all their food? they all die, just like us with water, out of all water on earth 1% of it is drinkable, the math points to extinction sooner rather than later and by sooner i mean within the next 100-1000 years not very many lifetimes left...

Clear change by the people who conspired to prevent contrary research from being published, from the the people who falsified sensor data, or from the people who trade in carbon credits?

I don't believe *anyone* on either side of this issue.

The only thing I know for sure is that where I live and where I've travelled it's been shorter and cooler summers with longer and colder winters for the last three years.

For fuck's sake it started snowing again yesterday.

So I'm not buying it when someone screams at me that WE'VE JUST HAD THE HOTTEST YEAR ON RECORD AGAIN.

Let me explain how sources work, libcuck.

A source that regurgitates what you've claimed, without sources, isn't a source. That is called propaganda.

I don't see a single link to a manifest of acredited research institutes, think tanks, peer-reviewed papers or anyone except for ONE professor they got to comment on their news piece.

They reference "polls this" and "research shows" without actually listing the requisite data. The only links on that page are links to other news articles following the same trend--spewing thoughts without factual basis.

This is propaganda. This is not socratic.

Because we're already going run out of tantalum in 50 years. Where we gonna source capacitors and transducers for solar panels then?

When we pollute the soil with degraded lithium batteries because, AGAIN, you need to store power from solar and wind because it isn't always sunny or windy, are we better off than we were before?

No, you absolute moron, I'm saying that the effects of solar activity is negligible when it concerns the rate at which the planet is currently warming.

Solar activity has actually tapered off over the past 35 years, yet the planet continues to warm at the same rate. Scientists estimate that solar activity has only contributed around .1 degree centigrade to the overall warming since the mid nineteenth century.
>>
>>729765616

His argument comes from propaganda put out by our friendly neighborhood "climate scientists", who totally are just doing it for the science, no sir, no cash payouts here, not at all.

It's not like our climate isn't cyclical or anything, not like we can't go back and look at the solar minimums and maximums, measure CO2 levels, look at events that have impacted our weather. You know, real science, right? Not just saying "TOO MUCH CARBON EMISSIONS, BLARG!"

Your assumption is I'm looking for your respect.

I neither require nor desire the respect of a man that doesn't do pre-requisite research and gets his ideological factoids from Facebook.

That's why I called you a cuck. With any luck, it'll be some kind of a wake-up call to you. Open your eyes.

Global warming is real. The earth goes through periods of warming and cooling.

Are we the cause? Unlikely. Anyone who says yes OR no is full of shit; we don't have enough data. Any reputable scientist will tell you we need more data.
>>
>>729759979
No I can't specify there isn't any definitive data to give you a definitive answer. I could assume but I won't. The answer is pointless because unless a crisis happens there won't be change. Even if human technology isn't the cause of climate change, it is going to happen anyway.

>>
>>729765590
>your source doesn't confirm my baseless beliefs, so it's not legit.

Stay dumb . I know you will
>>
>>729759979

Humans burn carbon. This carbon during combustion reacts with oxygen in the air, creating carbon dioxide/monoxide. Carbon dioxide molecules are larger and heavier than plain oxygen. This means that the molecules more easily reflect waves and particles because of their increased size. This means they more easily reflect solar radiation back at the planet for a 2nd round or more which results in less of that energy being lost to space and more of it being imparted to Earth in the form of heat.

Another good example of this is nuclear reactors. Generally water or H2 O is used as a medium to reflect neutrons back into the reaction to keep the reaction sustainable among other reasons. But if you swap the hydrogen atoms in water with deuterium, which is a heavier variant of hydrogen, the water molecules become heavier and much more effective at reflecting neutrons because of their increased size, making the reaction more efficient by keeping more neutrons inside. Thus heavy water.

Additionally the carbon oxides get absorbed readily into the ocean, making the pH of the water more acidic, which affects life there.

Climate changes naturally on the Earth due to various factors, but it does not change this severely over this short of a time sans huge disasters like bolide impacts or volcanic activity, and such quick climate change is always accompanied by mass extinctions because most life forms cannot adapt that quickly.

We have severely exacerbated a warming trend due to our fossil fuel consumption.
>>
>>729765012
You can actually measure that general temperatures are getting hotter, at a much faster rate than what would naturally occur. Anecdotal evidence doesn't disprove anything. You don't exactly live in Syria, do you?

Apart from cars, a big part of climate change is the result of farts, like cow farts as cows are bred in high numbers to feed everyone on this goddamn planet. Not to mention that it isn´t even enough yet. You could now go ahead and turn into a vegan faggot, but then you´d be only eating away the stuff that is supposed to filter out co2 from the athmosphere so you aren´t really helping either. Climate change isn´t something unnatural, the earth naturally cycles through ice ages and hot periods and we are heading for a hot period right now. It´s just that it is doing that at an unusual high rate, that is actually concerning. Blaming climate change on humans is retarded as it would happen with or without humans. The only thing you can blame on humans is the accelerated speed of the change.

If you want to "save the earth" you better stop using cars, stop eating in general, stop farting and in the end, don´t kill yourself because that also releases methane gas that will warm the atmosphere.

You're looking at one outdated piece of evidence that you don't understand and building an entire conclusion around it.

>scientific conclusion
Our planet is able to support life thanks to the electromagnetic field that encircles the planet, and keeps us all from freezing to death from the harsh temp of space. This is better known as our atmosphere. The culprit behind the rising temperature is the rise in CO2, which adds to our electic field and traps in more heat. Pretty much everyone understands this. We use the air trapped in ice to measure the amount of CO2 in the atmostphere.

Since the industrial revolution, there has been a distinct rise in CO2. And that trend has been increasing exponentially since. This is unlike and phenomena ever in the history of the planet. Attribute the rise in CO2 to whatever you want, the rise in CO2 can be found right in the timeline of when electricity began to be used in manufacturing.

The sun spot and solar wind co spiracy was started by a law professor's assumption on a conservative blog. Since the world's leading scientiest in solar activity has debunked this conspiracy with decades of research, which has been pier reviewed and yet to be debunked.

Fact of the matter, if you beleive in the scientific process you understand global warming. It takes 30 seconds to understand the sunspot conspiracy but you choose not to understand them either. Your opinion is baseless and extremely dangerous to a planet altering consensus.

It's not about making a 'machine' to fix it. They are probably working on solutions but at the basic level human behavior has to change. We've made a lot of progress towards lowering carbon emissions since the 70s, but the problem is we've made enough progress here in the states that suddenly nobody remembers that it's an actual problem anymore and so now the government has convinced people to support getting rid of all the regulations that stop this place from turning into a shithole and doing it's part to minimally affect climate change while a solution is created and implemented.

Also if nobody believes climate change is occurring it's quite hard to get funding to fix it. Business people don't want to fix it because it's bad for businesses.

I couldn't comment on the rest, I thought it was pretty well known that CO2 wasn't the "greenhouse gas" that people claim it to be and personally I think our records don't go back nearly far enough to indicate whether CO2 emissions have anywhere near the impact some advocates cling to so desperately.

I remember the sky being bluer, clearer and being able to see further. It's pretty obvious to me that we live in a snow globe and are filling it slowly with smoke. Sounds like a bad idea, period.

The seasons have been less predictable, the weather has more variation and although it could be caused by other factors. However, applying Occum's razer, the simplest and most obvious answer that for over 100 years we have been pumping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere we are bound to see negative outcomes from this.

What's funny is all the kids on this site have probably never google'd "China air pollution photos" or seen that hotels hand out filtration devices for visitors.

My question, how could it not impact the climate? Wind is air flow, if you change the composition of the air with heavier or different elements, then you will in fact impact climate. And after 100+ years of unabated stupidity driven by convenience and greed, would you expect nothing to come of it?

I guess in fact humanity is that stupid. This site is just an extension of that reality.

Some climate changes did, some didn't.

That's why anyone who says "im sure global warming is our fault!" or "im sure global warming isnt our fault!" is full of shit.

You can argue for the likeliness or unlikeliness of it all day--to say for certain there is a correlation is horseshit. We can't go back more than a few thousand years with core and ice samples to ATTEMPT to study ancient climate conditions--two hundred thousand years is the blink of an eye compared to the age of the planet.

We require more data. Construct additional researchers.

Yes. Specifically because a lot of people die in proximity of or within cars, for example. People also get caught in machinery in factories. Crunch.

Also, pollution and inefficient allocation of resources to meet the set living standard for most. We could 100% destroy every facet of modern society with a laughably small amount of nuclear weapons. And, yes, we have enough to render large chunks of the biosphere dead, and unable to recover for quite some time.

Not enough to create a hellstorm of burning inferno or a great dying on par with the dinos, mind you, but enough to just reset the clock. We have the power of the sun, dummy. We have it sitting on top of big flight-capable metal cocks. We can literally fuck ourselves with giant exploding metal cocks.

Also, when did we ever get hit with a gamma ray burst?
>>
>>729766634

Good way to rationalize by using the line that scientists are making it up for profit. I've explained the science behind it in this thread and that's all I can really do. The fact is it is occurring, there is very clear data it is occurring, there is science you yourself can do in your own backyard to prove the mechanisms that are causing it, and unfortunately the extreme quickness of the temp changes can be directly attributed to human behaviors.

A lot of money gets pumped into a misinformation campaign to turn people like you into deniers so that you will elect deniers who will then make policies against environmental regulations, because having to follow safe emissions standards really cuts into profits in a lot of industries and they don't like that.

However it makes a safer and healthier world for all of us to have these standards, such as they are. If you could see 1970s and prior United States you would understand the magnitude of what has been accomplished in that time.

TL'DR companies want to make more money and removing environmental regulations at your detriment is a good way to do it

>>729766431
I understand science well more then you do. Data is constantly being manipulated to prove a point. Temp readings are adjusted etc. Well if the temp has to be adjusted to be accurate maybe you shouldn't use that location. I also understand about cause and effect. Too many people think co2 causes warming except there is no direct correlation to co2 rising and temp. People seem to think they know it all until they don't. Yeah, that's a short term, highly localized problem. We can fuck up the air in an area, we might even impact the weather in certain places. That doesn't mean the global fucking climate is going to be fucked because the air in China is bad. There are so many things that can or could affect the global climate. CO2 is just one of many, and it's not enough to permanently damage the Earth or its ability to sustain organic life.

But I'm feeling charible: good NOAA data manipulation.

Before that there was the data breach at the University of East Anglia.

Etc.

In the same way that it could be coincidental that viruses cause disease, sure. Perhaps the symptoms of diseases we think are caused by viruses are caused by voodoo curses, and the viruses just happen to be present in humans we test but are actually benign. Makes sense. I can doubt, for sciences sake.

>>
>>729767252

First, to answer your last question, there's a theory that one caused about 70% of marine life to die off about 450 million years ago, an extinction that scientists previously had no idea how it happened.

And, yes, I realize that we can absolutely affect ourselves, our species, and many of the species on this planet, sure. I'm talking about the Earth though, this idea that we could render the Earth uninhabitable for life in general. No fucking way, not at this point in time. Even if we launched all our nukes, hit every square inch of the planet, and even melted away chunks of our atmosphere, the Earth would eventually recover and life would begin all over again, the clock reset. That's how powerful the Earth is. That's all I'm talking about.
>>

I believe in climate change and global warming, I do not think they are a problem though.

>>
>>729767897

There is empirical evidence. The reason there is debate is because it was turned into a partisan issue to polarize voters and bring increasing environmental regulations to a standstill and eventually reverse them to benefit the business sector.

Follow the money on any denial study and it usually leads back to the fossil fuel industry. I wonder why that is?
>>

Breh, I'm on your side here, but this is how it works...

Venous blood exchanges CO2, what was previously O2, for fresh O2, and the CO2 is ejected from the blood via alveolues and then carried out from the body via exhalation.

Yeah there's some CO2 coming in, you're not wrong. But there's MORE coming out.

They are a problem. In the last 25 years we've seen a crop yield loss of 6% globally, and that's with all the GMO crops created to grow in harsher climates.

We're expected to see a loss of another 6% in as little as 10 years.

It's a gradual change that will get cumulatively worse as time goes on.

>>
>>729768319

Except we do have the power to change it, because we are doing so right now. Given proper understanding of the causation it simply a matter of focusing money and resources into simultaneously halting the forward temperature progression and addressing as much of the root problem as possible.

The problem being the root problem is very, very profitable.

No only scientists are money grabbing needy jews, our government officials who say it's fake obviously can't be biased or bought, that goes against the climate change denial perspective.
>>
>>729759979
We have almost no effect on climate change. Climate change is the term being used now cause global warming didn't happen and they look like asses now. We are currently in a 15 year decline in global temps, despite ipcc using very few temp guages in hot parking lots and airports or under air conditioning units, and not even around the globe. This is real look it up. So the real topic is man made co2. The hard science is that co2 is a very mild greenhouse gas and only consist of 3.5-4% of the atmospheric greenhouse gasses. 95% is water vapor, the number one biggest greenhouse gas. Co2 is good for the planet actually. It's mostly released in glacial ice melt and ocean temperature rise, then absorbed again during cooling and re-glaciation. Why blame co2? Because you can't tax the ocean. Get ready for that individual carbon tax if they win. Government spends 4 billion a year to pay scientists to manipulate data and charts to make it seem like we are the ones responsible. That money could of solved the problem if there actually was one. Conspiracy is what it's definition is, a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful, the action of plotting or conspiring. These things are real and do happen. Please go out and do your own unbiased independent research about this instead of listening to political paid science and tv or Al Gore(not a scientist), and don't deny it either just to jump on a bandwagon. Do the actual research and you'll see how fake it is.

Well in that scenario, we will all be dead before this truly affects our lives. So why even worry right?

Mainstream media has nothing to do with the fact that you can't continue doing what we have for the past 100 years and expect humanity to thrive. I do believe we can survive and adapt, that I do not question but at what sacrifice? Also, at what point do we truly doom our species from being able to survive? There are limits to our intelligence and ability to survive. We live in a goldie-locks time period and on a planet in the goldie-locks zone, statistically speaking, we probably don't want to fuck that up if we intend to continue as a species.

So regardless of whether or not climate change is a man made/influenced thing, heading some reservations about how we treat the planet are probably well warented.
