I did something like that once.
I got to a point in Tae Kwon Do where I could do these cool jump kicks.
Then I joined a backyard mma fight twice. I tried to do a flying side kick into a Jujitsu muy Thai guy.
All he did was step sideways and take me down for ground game.

The next guy, I tried to do some fancy back kick into his abdomen. He left kicked me into my head. I blocked it 26th my hand, but my but I doll felt the force of the damn kick. I nearly fell to the ground as a knock out, but he did a take down on me and tapped me out by submission.

Almost 15 years later I'm a martial arts instructor with service in the Navy and Army (retired). I'm still a big autist, but I keep it suppressed and appear to me a normal functional member of society. Only time it really comes out is if I get drunk.

There was a kid in high school named Tim. Now Tim didn't look weird on the outside, dressed a bit odd, but nothing too unusual.

He never hung out with any of the cliques, and literally no one was his friend. If you talked to him, he'd start to glare at you and pretend to be a tough guy, despite having little to no muscles.

You could go "Hey Tim" in the hallway and he'd turn and glare at you and say WHAT?

Anyway, he'd do cringey things with the girls, glom onto the hot ones until they laughed and brushed him off. Then he tried hanging out with the wanna be gangster kids by literally standing two steps away from their group and laughing when they did, or saying "right on" every once in awhile.

He got suspended for a day and a big ticket for attempting to do doughnuts in his K-Car between the school and stadium. He also worked at the auto parts store. I remember going in and asking for oil and a filter, and he goes and drags a bunch of shit out, saying that I "needed this instead"

kid in my class, we'll call him cory.
we all figured cory came from the projects, his clothes were always filthy and he smelled terrible. he was awkward before we even knew what awkward meant, alternating between being a spaz and bullymagnet to nearly catatonic. he had sores all over his skin, his features were unnaturally smooth, he had a big forehead, curly patchy red hair and his eyes were set really far apart. there wasn't a single day of school that wasn't hell for cory. he had a ton of brothers in grades above and below him, they all looked like deformed clones. his older brothers seemed a little more 'there' and his younger siblings were straight up mentally disabled.

anyway, around 5th grade in the middle of the year he and all his brothers just 'moved away'. the teachers told us that cory had to move before we could throw him a goodbye party. (which would have been a disaster if they did) and life went on like usual.

Anyway, fast forward to years after I graduated school. I was in college studying law and criminal justice when I finally found out what happened to cory via an example: child protective services found out he and his siblings were all the offspring of a fucked up incest family living in squalor on the edge of town. the eldest boys would impregnate the mom, or the oldest sisters. all births done in the home, toddlers who died were buried in the yard like animals. the dad and oldest brothers kept the rest of them in line and if anyone talked about it they would get beaten senseless.

CPS caught on and put all the kids in foster homes and arrested the adult members of the family/clan. serious hardcore deliverance shit.

We had a kid like that in my grade back in middle school. He did capoeira and parkour, and would insert video game references into everything he did.

Thing is, aside from being an edgy teenager writing edgy fanfics, he was actually ridiculously athletic, and could do some pretty insane parkour shit. He moved a couple years ago, but last I heard he won some state martial arts tournament and is doing great overall.
