What is /b/ listening to? I'm testing out my new headphones and want some suggestions but /mu/ is a fucking cesspit of pseudo-intellectual hipsters.

I'm a bit stuck in my ways - I listen to rock, very early metal, folk, new wave and classical. I rarely listen to anything post 1980s with the exception of a few electronic bands like Underworld and Aphex Twin so I'd be grateful for suggestions of more modern music, particularly electronic and rock.

Nice, I have K701's too,

the HD600's look good, never heard them before though.

I kind of like stuff like this for trying headphones, but I like this style of music overall so not sure if you would too

The K701s are cracking headphones, I was using nothing else for five years but a cable disconnected in the right speaker and I used it as an excuse to buy the HD600s which I've wanted for ages (I will fix them when I get a shot of my friend's soldering iron though).

I'd say in terms of overall quality the HD600 and K701s are neck and neck, K701 has a wider soundstage whereas the HD600 is more subtle and intimate. They're both great though.

I quite like that tune by the way, sort of like a lovechild of Halo and Deus Ex soundtracks.

Yeah I'm a pretty big fan of that style, Audiomachine, Two Steps from Hell, Colossal Music.

I agree with the K701's I absolutely love mine too, the only other phones I have are Shure SRH840's, and Etymotic ER-4S IEM's which, while they don't have the soundstage of the shures and definitely not that of the K701's but, probably have better detail than both.

I was looking at Ultrasone Pro900, or 2900 too.

If you're interested here's some 60s folk music you might not have heard. Any instrumental with Bert Jansch and John Renbourn is excellent, vocal with Jansch is an acquired taste though.

no one mentioned Aja yet? it's supposed to be one of the most audiophile friendly albums; mixed and produced very well. however, listening to it on youtube to test headphones probably wont do you much good considering the 128kbps. try and find a good flac cd rip of it
>>
>>729179075
I'm a Tidal fag, £20 a month is comparatively ridiculous but the quality is as good as any flac CD rip and if you have slightly unusual tastes it is well worth it.

I'm now listening to Kovacevich's Beethoven Sonatas, the quality is astonishing.

Sennheiser HD600?
Try some Ghost, soundwork on this is top notch, a real pleasure if your hardware is good.

I haven't really got anything to compare the HD600 to so far other than the K701. Likewise the 02 Amp and ODAC, I haven't ever heard any other amplifiers, I just did my research five years ago and those seemed to be by far the best at that price point. Shame the UK distributor went out of business.

I would absolutely love to hear the HD800 as a classical music lover, I think that is the only area that the K701 has the HD600 trumped - the huge soundstage is really amazing for symphonies. Otherwise I'm starting to prefer the HD600.

By the way, I am impressed by Ghost. The sound production is fantastic, musically too it's not too heavy for me either. The only heavy metal stuff I listen to is generally just Black Sabbath and Deep Purple.
