What depression meds is /b/ currently on?

OP is on 45 mg of mirtazapine (Remeron) as well as 75 mg of venlafaxine (Effexor). Sometimes I may go up to 150 mg or even 225 mg of venlafaxine. Been on these since June 2016.

i'm actually prescribed gabapentin and tramadol cuz my psychiatrist is pretty awesome

for mental probs
cuz i like feeling good instead of fixing them
>>
>>729143031

Have they helped you well? Are you taking them for depression too or for anxiety etc.?

The combination of mirtazapine and venlafaxine helped me get out of suicidal thoughts which is awesome but they also lower my libido and cause anorgasmia (not being able to nut). I can jack off for hours and still not cum which sucks. Even though I've abstained for masturbation for days, sometimes even weeks as porn and sex in general has become incredibly boring, giving me about as much pleasure as a can of Coke.
>>
>>729143194
well the tramadol i have been taking illicitly for like 8 years before getting prescribed it, and that was in conjunction with a long heroin addiction (7 years) that my doc doesn't know about.

i got prescribed it like 2 months ago and now never have to worry about running out and going through withdrawals.

the gabapentin helps as a mood stabilizer but makes me almost catatonic at times when i take too much, it has a really sedating effect and gives a lot of brainfog

the tramadol is great for its opioid like effects and its trycyclic anti-depressant qualities (has SSRI, SNRI, and MAOI properties) - and i really fucking like the energy it gives me

When I was on no meds after kicking heroin, pretty sure i would've an hero'd after a couple months

So they've helped a lot, but are making me considerably more dependent the longer i take them and are arguably making my problems worse, but shit was so bad i am ok with staying on pills the rest of my life

schizoid personality disorder, major depressive disorder, and general anxiety here
>>
>>729143194
oh and yeah, that side effect of many ssri's is awful. the tramadol i take has that effect but not as exaggerated, so it really just prolongs how long i can last.

im glad they've helped you reconcile suicidal ideation, but the bleakness surely sucks as well
>>
>>729142940
trying latuda now, only into day 4 though.
>>
>>729143545
>>729143681

Damn man, great to know they're working for you! Venlafaxine is supposed to help with alleged "intrusive thoughts" (which I believe is a sign of me having OCD) but they really haven't made that much of a difference, thus making me want to ask my doctor for something which would help me with my OCD which would eventually help me with my depression as well. The bleakness is seriously the worst part, I agree. These have made my kind of unemotional too which is horrible, I haven't talked about that with anyone though. By the way, have you ever had OCD kind of symptoms yourself?

MDD and GA here too, dude. I have some schizoid traits as well.
>>
>>729143789

First time on antidepressants? Is it an SNRI or SSRI you're taking? Hopefully it's working for you.
>>
>>729142940

40mg of vybriid... fucking 100$ copay but its the only anti depressant that i havnt had any negative side effects from
>>
>>729144128
no, been taking them for years. my last regimen was seroquel, welbutrin and prozac. odd combination but it was somewhat effective for me.

it's an antipsychotic, used to treat bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. i haven't noticed any effects yet other than some drowsiness and restlesness side effects. will be tapering up from 20mg to 80 over the course of 3 weeks. i will probably be adding lamictal to the mix after this gets going.

dx schizoaffective bipolar-type.
>>
>>729144094
Yeah I get intrusive thoughts quite a bit, funny you mention that

My mother has OCD traits so it's not a long stretch to say i have them too

The worst is after a night of drinking/doing cocaine (something i've been doing a lot recently) - I will wake up hungover and have almost a sort of temporary tourettes syndrome - i'll get an intrusive thought about something i said the night before and then i can't help but verbalize something, like saying 'i'm going to fucking kill myself'. This keeps up for a few hours, and is super uncomfortable when someone asks me 'who tf are you talking to' then i make up some bullshit about skype or something, kek

Prescribed 20mg of Lexapro, but I usually split it and only take 10 because if I take the full 20, I literally can't ejaculate no matter how hard I work at it, which is weird, because I have PE problems.

The 10mg is a good middle ground. I don't feel anywhere near as horrible as I do without it, and I can still cum with a bit of effort.

Also on Atenolol and Buspirone for anxiety. Used to be on Xanax, but switched docs and he didn't want to prescribe xanax, so switched me to buspirone.
>>
>>729142940
I was on zoloft for a week, but it gave me heart palpitations and shortness of breath. Intolerable.

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Tourette-Syndrome/Embarrasing-Thoughts-Make-Me-Blurt-Out-Things/show/1120803

this is what i'm talking about, i know it's not a phenomenon that just happens to me

I never really have to reconcile intrusive thoughts by yelling at myself any other time, so there's an obvious correlation
>>
>>729144409
ayyy i got atenolol too

good for breakthrough anxiety
>>
>>729142940
I quit all my meds cold turkey 6 months ago.
Best thing I ever fucking did.
10+ years of being on meds was the worst hell ever... made everything 100x worse.
>>
>>729144409
I was on Lexapro too, and I couldn't get an actual erection, let alone cum...made my anxiety a lot worse too.

My anxiety is arguably worse than my depression, but because I'm fucking retarded I told my doctor years ago about former prescription drug abuse when I was 20, so now I can't seem to get prescribed any Xanax or Ativan which would legit help me a lot. Now they probably think I'm some drug seeking retard trying to get high and faking anxiety for the rest of my life.

No meds, seems I'm allergic to them. When it gets really bad I go for an anti-anxiety but I can't function on that shit. So pretty much I just deal with it.
>>
>>729144787
This is exactly why I've never told any doctor about my heroin addiction

>tfw i can't get optimal treatment if i'm honest
>>
>>729142940
Just got put on trintellix, first time I've been on meds in like two years. I've been trying to resist being on them again after being on them much of my younger life, but my suicidal thoughts and major depressive disorder has been so unbearable that I had to try something. So far it's working ok. I get headaches if I don't take it at exactly the same time every day. And I can't really drive anymore because a few sips of fucking wine makes me feel like I drank the whole bottle.
>>
>>729144285

Yep, drowsiness as well as restlessness are very common side-effects of depression meds. Sucks but what can ya do? Lol. Same thing happens with my venlafaxine. It also makes me want to vomit constantly. When I started taking it I vomited for hours on the first night. Also cannot sleep well as my muscles are unbelievably tense and hurt like hell.
>>
80mg of prozac per day for OCD
>>
>>729145072
the only one i ever had nausea from was paxil occasionally, i got a lot of side effects from that and didn't take it very long.

some interaction of the seroquel-welbutrin-prozac would cause restless leg as well which made it impossible to get to sleep sometimes.

this level of drowsiness is acceptable to me, it's nothing like seroquel's doping.
>>
I've experienced every trial aside from rape and death and I still find that depression meds are simply a fools crutch. Grow a pair and handle your demons.
>>
>>729144389

Really? Hahaha, awesome to see that I'm not the only one having these! They are so fucking embarrassing, I know exactly what you mean! Since like 2010 when I was still somewhat of a believer back then I had some blasphemous intrusive thoughts which, according to Wikipedia, are quite common (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intrusive_thought). I still have them to this day despite being a non-believer nowadays. But the embarrassing intrusive thoughts, thank GOD I can still keep them inside of me, even though that's very difficult. You shouldn't do cocaine with hardcore meds, man. Especially if you take them daily. And adding alcohol to that mix, even worse. I only drink and smoke with my meds. Not allowed to do that either but that keeps me from doing other shit. I'm sure I'd die if I took drugs stronger than weed, my body ain't in the best condition... Heart and lung problems are severe. I also get very sweaty and get breathing problems very easily.

I spilled the beans because I was freaked out about some medical shit I was going through at the time, so I told them honestly, in case it had anything to do with it.

In reality I think I just have a massive red flag attached to my medical records. So for my really shitty anxiety, all I get are these antidepressants that make me feel way fucking worse and get suggested to see a therapist. As though I have the fucking money for a therapist.

150 mg Zoloft
Makes me a freaking god in bed
>>
>>729145231
Strangely, I had restless leg syndrome from remeron and it gave me a weird delerium feeling after I took it before bed, so I couldn't sleep unless I fapped. The delerium made for amazing faps, but I couldn't live that way.
>>
Celexa and topamax.
>>
>>729145619
Zoloft didn't really effect my ability to get hard either, at 100mg. But took at least a half hour to cum, which is too long for a lot of the women I've been with that prefered multiple quickies a day versus one long fuck.
>>
>>729145773
>topamax
What's Topamax for? I forget.

i stopped taking my welbutrin about 2 months ago

i feel fine without them, and what i need now is some behavioral therapy.... i wouldnt be surprised if the depression came creeping up on me like it always does.... im doing fine now... i am truly surprised i didnt kill myself in the past

Currently tapering of citalopram as it didn't seem to work and been on Prozac for nearly two weeks. Spent a couple of weeks on propanol when i started the citalopram.

Feel like I've got some motivation back. Since starting the Prozac.

I've found it difficult to cum. Hopefully that'll go once the citalopram is out of my system.

Could try SAM-e. No experience with it myself, but my yuppie hippie parents tried to get me to take it instead of proper medication back before I almost killed myself.

I'm really interested in this because I'm a pretty low energy guy, which is part of my depression, and the consistent reviews with elevated energy levels seems promising. I'll be asking my cardiologist if that's safe for my heart that's been sensitive to different meds I've been on in the past.

40mg Fluoxetine. I hate it but can't really function without it. Plus side is that it makes me last longer in bed.
Zoloft helped me more but I couldn't get stiff while taking it so fuck that.
