How many of you guys are college drop outs? I officially dropped out today and I already feel like shit. I've been in school for 5 years and I've finally realized that it just isn't for me. Ive been thinking of going into trade or just getting a simple desk job until I can find out what I really want to do with my life.

How has your life been since you dropped?
Do you regret it and are you going to go back?
>>
Good you did it, ill type out my story but first bump this thread
>>
Had to drop out because I was going to a community college and was all set to transfer to a university at the end of the semester, but I broke my neck.

Moved states before I could go back.
>>
>>729041838
What's your major OP?
>>
"getting a simple desk job"

LO fucking L. The reason you go to college is so you can get a desk job. It's not easy to get into a trade either, unless your dad is in the union.

Get ready to hustle, young blood.
>>
Dropped out a couple years ago and got a job at a grow in Washington and have been here since.

I make more now than I would of if I stayed in school. Not to mention I'm actually happy with what I do.
>>
>>729041838
>>729042633
So last year I decided to do the same, went to college for 4 years and mostly hated it, lots of stress, had a hard time keeping up with the pace and a lot of things didn't interest me so I quit.

Last year I started working 5 days a week and follow a special education for working people to get a community college degree in my field with 1 evening in the week.

So far so good, not a lot of homework, learning a lot of practical things and still getting a degree. After I get my degree I want to do a higher level of community college and after that maybe some small things on the side to get more diplomas etc. Basically achieve pretty much the same, just in more time and more spread out.

You could try and do someting like me, look for some things you like or liked a bit in your education and focus on that. Get a job in that field. If you don't like it after all you can always quit.

Registration involuntarily canceled due to financial restrictions. Poor AF.

Close to Shelton area.
>>
>>729042916
I'm in WA, how do you get into the weed business? It seems like a stoner here can't get any job except that
>>
>>729042964
Yeah I'm thinking of going back to CC and getting a IT or business cert. At my CC they offer a lot of certs, so I have some options. I know a cert isn't the same as a degree, but I'm just hoping those certs will help me get my foot in the door.
>>

I am. I became a machinist. Had I became a historian, I'd probably be living under a bridge. No matter how hard times get, someone is always liable to be willing to pay me to make parts for their antique car or modify a firearm (not that I ever have or will because I'm not licensed and so it would be illegal and make baby Jesus cry). At the best of times no one will ever give a shit about being corrected for their misconceptions about history, particularly certain eras/events, such as the US Civil War. I fucking regret nothing.
>>
>>729043123
oh shit. I'm in Vancouver. Used to live in Roy.

>>729043172
also wondering. actually had an interview with a dispensary yesterday
>>
>>729041838
What "desk job" ?! Are you serious? The best job you qualify for is fast food or labor. Do you think there are just a million generic desk jobs out there for losers to work temporarily while they're dreams unfold? You fucked up big time fag, you better get your burger flipping skills on point, pretty soon you will be under qualified for even that.
>>
>>729042773
How'd you break your neck? How's recovery?
>>
>>729041838
Hey op

I barely made it through high school, and dropped out of university before first Christmas. I told my family I was still going, and lied about going to class for years (I would just leave and then wander around downtown).

Things were shit until I made up my mind to force myself to be more sociable. I managed to make good friends and network and eventually get a job assisting a photographer and through that met a real estate friend of his. I managed to impress him enough to have him mentor me and I recently got my license, and I make crazy fucking money.

So my advice is, no matter what, don't turtle. Those first years of wandering downtown and then staying home playing vidya games was a total waste. Get out and network, and something will come up. Good luck /b/ro
>>
but what else can you do without going to college but work either hard labour or min wage bs
>>
>>729041838
sincerely OP, just go back next semester, or unabandon...trust me, you're probably in your early 20's...You'll regret it by the time you're 30. i know, I know...Look. I did it...i'm 28 now...I earn a bit less than 100k/year. i have a good life, I won't lie. But my job is a dead end, i have to endure a moron as a boss and I definitely know that with my 7 college classes, i won't find another 100k job tomorrow to replace it. god I would like to have my diploma completed to tell him to fuck himself.

>How many of you guys are college drop outs?
Right here. I was studying mechanical engineering and got tired of walking past all of the cool machines in the workshop and never being able to use them.
>How has your life been since you dropped?
Awesome. No bullshit homework or essays to do. I just graduated from a welding program at my local trade school and landed a job at a fab shop. They're starting me out at $15 an hour.
>Do you regret it and are you going to go back?
Hell no. I'm about to get paid to make things using multi million dollar equipment that I would never have access to otherwise.
>>
>>729043287
I'm guessing you work at the golden arches and just needed to take out some pent up feelings
>>
I dropped out of college. Was going for auto mechanic but wanted that as a hobby. So it was still useful. I got a job on a help desk to start my career, moved companies to another help desk job, then a PC technician, then data center specialist, now I'm a system administrator. All in about 5 years time. Sys admins make good money
>>
>>729043172
It comes down to two factors
Who you know?
Are you good enough to handle a grow alone?

If you don't know anyone you better be able to handle a grow on your own (and prove it to them). If you know someone just go apply at their grow and have them put in a good word. I hate to say it but you're going to start at processing. Packaging joints and wax basically all day and trimming on some days. 15$ an hour but you get samples daily. Half grams here and there so it works out sorta.
>>
>>729043359
There are a million professions in the world... move somewhere. Move to Los Angeles and work in the entertainment industry. Grips are the dumbest motherfuckers I've ever met, they make $200 a day to start.. if they stick with it and join a union they make $800-$1000 or more a day... no college.

After high school, I chose not to go to college. I knew I would be too busy getting drunk/high and trying to fucking bitches to take it seriously. I avoided the need to get myself into debt because after K-12 I just wanted to STOP and get a normal job to sustain myself. Seven years have passed, and now that I've had my fun I plan to go and at least learn a skill/trade. Dead end jobs really do suck, and I've now learned that the hard way. Still, no regrets.
>>
>>729043348
Got any networking tips for an aspie guys like me? My major was accounting, so I was told that we business majors need to have strong social skills. I suck at meeting new people. Like I can't even make eye contact with them. Fucking feel like a betafag.

It was the other way around for me. I was brought into CNC trade by one of my family members, i remember being excited to make alot of money. I walked into my interview and my employer asked how much i wanted to make per hour. Quickly i replied with "10" and he responded with confidence "ill pay you 11". Notice i was 18 at the time so i became eager to start working. First day there was slow and boring, the boss began to gain interest in me for my age compared to all the older men there, and how well i spoke towards him. He was going to push me to learn how to program and fix the machines but quickly i realize how much tension the environment held, and how nasty the conditions were. First of all my manager was afraid to teach me how to program the machine and kept me naive for fear that i would take his job. Second the hours were dreadful especially since the stench in the factory was appalling. I couldn't handle the awkward stares and angry coworkers i just left. There's more to it but this is one of the main reasons i left. Somedays i regret it but i started college soon after. Honestly, i feel its only the best thing i could do.
>>
>>729042964

so you failed after 4yrs to get a degree so you went to an easier school to get easier degrees and someday hope to get even more mid-tier shit degrees from other also not very good institutions.

WTF. Stop getting paper, get a fucking JOB
>>
>>729041838
How can you not finish college it's the degree level where you have to try only slightly hard. I've spend 8 years on my university degree (europoor) and I just finished after losing all hope after 5 years.

I now make over modal in my first year and I already can save more than 75% of the money than I could get without a degree.

Go fuck yourself pleb you have just ruined yourself.
>>
>>729043863
Bruh, my job is practically what I study. And also luckily in the field I work in; machining, is experience more important then degrees. But I want to excell in it so I get both, experience and a degree.

So stfu. You don't know shit what you're talking about.
>>
>>729044027

Over Modal?

Wow, whatever the fuck that means good for you.

College and grad school aren't easy you dumb fucks. you have to try. 6yrs all in from start to finish and now 10yrs in my career. It's called working hard and not giving up or being retarded
>>
>>729043348
>I told my family I was still going, and lied about going to class for years (I would just leave and then wander around downtown

Wow. There was a story like that a couple years ago about an asian girl with super crazy strict parents, and she couldn't handle college but couldn't tell her parents because they'd go apeshit so she lied for years.

And they thought she was graduating, but somehow the truth came out from the college, and so they GROUNDED her at like age 22. Anway, she ended up killing both her parents with the help of her boyfriend, and now she's in jail. Sad story.

Did you ever tell your parents the truth?
>>
>>729043408
But that is shit money...

You'll probs get bored of that shit in a year or 2. Then you'll slowly die doing the same stuff untill you die.
>>
>>729044027
well, school making you depressed as fuck is one thing, also the constant stress is another.
>>
Never went to college but I did drop out of highschool at 16. Worked a year as one of those guys that just picked up trash on the street, got sick of it, then worked for 6 months in a government library. Still work there, next month I'll be able to start my welding course, which is the only interesting thing I could do that could actually make decent money.

I'd give my life an 8/10
>>
>>729043408
Lol I did study mechanical engineering too, now I do machining at a place and am studying one eve in the week in community college. It's fun.

>>729043408

>>
>>729044164
Modal in my country is average. AKA people with 20 years of experience. Minimum wage here is pretty much ok. though I make close to 300% of that.
>>
>>729044419
well, I hit the bottom of the pool. neck crushed like an accordian
>>
Dropped out in final year of law school. Started my own business 5 years ago. Didn't sell shit first year, break-even 3rd year, can make a living now being my own boss. There's life without a degree.
>>
>>729044245
been there done that. I'd be more stressfull if besides paying bills nothing else would happen.

But I am no quitter though.
>>
Calm yourself Anon. Your ditch awaits. Dig strong.
>>
>>729044497
>>729044164

I just double checked, I"m about 40% over modal.
>>
New anon here, dropping in on the thread.
I dropped out from computer programming uni. Did some other work, and then had a chance at computer programming job. They were desperate so I got the chance. I delivered.
6 years later, I'm the main programmer at the job, because learnFast and deliverEverytime

>Going to school to be a history major

What the fuck were you thinking you were going to do with that? Pay off your $200,000 in student loans while eating cat food Andy living in a 1-bedroom novel with your $35,000 a year middle school teaching job?
>>
>>729044497
Huh. You never thought about it before, but you're right, Mode is in fact a better way to figure out average salaries than using Mean.

Because with Mean, you have to average in salaries that skew the values too much, like super billionaires.
>>
>>729041838
I did last spring. Feels bad but 80% of engineering students drop out so it isn't that uncommon
>>
>>729043720
I rose from shit tiers industrial employee to managing the plant. It's ok i guess, I mean, I work long hour, very early in the morning, but it's pretty much well paid. But as I say...Money is cool...but i just can't enjoy my daily life...and let me tell you...5 days a week is a lot of days not to be enjoying it. And don't forget...life is mostly inexpensive in your early 20's...but one day, you'll want more, you'll maybe want kid...And you'll want more money, more freedom...And except if you're a great entrepreneur, a diploma is the easiest way to do it. Believe me, waking up at 4AM is funny the first 2 years...then it becomes a pain in the ass.

Here

Studied 1 semester chemistry and 5 semesters biology, dropped out on september last year but was still registered untill end of march because of insurance (europoor, mandatory insurance n shit)
Was just too lazy and too dumb to realize i can't study before i change something in my life. So here i am trying to better myself.

What are you even talking about?
You also aren't figuring in an extra 10-20 hours a week of overtime pay.
>>
I dropped out because the university over charged me $10,000.00

I completed all the course work but they said I needed more course work(I transfered from a 2 year).

Ended up in sales (only place to earn decent money with no degree)

10 years later out of the blue, I called the provost for a degree audit.

Get degree they apologize, pay $40,000 of my tuition.

Within a week I doubled my salary selling products in my field.

Get your degree,
>>
>>729041838
I dropped out 3 times. My parents wanted me to go, I didn't.
>>
>>729041838
Dropping out of college was one of the best decisions I ever made. I wanted to be a professional feature writer and journalist, and you don't need a degree to do that. I left school, found a job almost immediately, and never had a reason to look back. At this point, I'm far more experienced and successful than any of the writing teachers I had in school. (Not that this was a high standard to begin with.) The only thing not having a degree prevents me from doing is becoming a teacher as a fallback option.
>>
>>729041838
You went for five years and didn't even get a shitty degree? You're fucked!!!
>>
>>729047642
Ho...that's the game we're playing...Then ok. I guess I forgot that someone making 10$ an hour can easily make 67k per year if he does 100 hours per wee. Pretty good gig.
>>
>>729041838
I dropped out twice before figuring out what I wanted to do.

If you feel school isn't for you, go work a shitty job for a few years and your mind will change.

I worked in a steel factory for about 4 years and eventually told myself I would never go back to that place, because if I did I would eventually die in that place.
>>
I dropped out for a semester after 3 years in a major I didnt give a shit about.. went back with a new major picked only because I thought it was the quickest way to get a degree and I ended up liking it 10 times more than my last major. I graduate in a month.

If you have the funds.. try and go back. If you don't, find a decent paying job and maybe you'll hate it and it can push you back to school.
