So he used the oxygen of publicity to disinfect /b/, knowing that if word about /b/ became well publicised, all the wannabee cool kids (who were actually both technically inept and relatively harmless) would flood in, and the real problem users would decamp. So then the chins would be saleable.

And so it came to be. The genie cannot be put back in the bottle and the place can never be unknown except by a few ever again.
