does the US border wall need guard towers? an impenetrable wall doesn't need anybody guarding it

the guards are what would make it impenetrable. otherwise it'd be like the nights watch, so undermanned that the only thing keeping them out is magic ICE agents.

>Implying ANYTHING is impenetrable given enough time and energy.
All security systems do is slow the attacker down enough so that the police/security can arrive to arrest them. If nobody responds they WILL fail eventually. This goes for all security systems in the world, if someone is determined enough and they have enough time and the right tools, they'll get in eventually

Oh, kid...
>>
>>728598554
It will take a hell of a lot of guards. Personally I think the entire idea is asinine. No matter how it is built somebody, aka the cartels, will either dig under it or blow a big ass hole in it.

or just go around it, pretty much a modern day Maginot Line. Before anybody says the coast guard will stop it these fuckers are crafty, they use disposable fiberglass submarines and already do attempt to tunnel under the border
>>
>>728602276
Indeed and the fact that the us tax payers are paying for said wall makes it all the more ironic
>>
if Trump wanted to really MAGA, he would bring all of our military home and station them along the border. No wall, no even a fence, just signs posted saying "ENTER LEGALLY AT THE AUTHORIZED CROSSING. OTHERWISE, YOU WILL BE SHOT AND KILLED"

But he's just another slob doing what he's told by his Jewish daughter and son in law

nigga, that shit will never be finished, if its even started. the cost of building it alone is insane, let alone maintaining and manning it.
>>
>>728602276
Tunnels and subs are too expensive to use for regular human transport. 250 pounds of coke is worth very roughly $10 million in the US and $1 million in Mexico, so you can make a $9 million in smuggling fees. A 250 pound Mexican will pay about $4000 in smuggling fees. I mean you can argue about the numbers a little bit, but it's not even close.

The wall will not prevent illegal immigration because the vast majority of illegal immigrants come in legally via plane and merely overstay their visas.

Also, the wall isn't going to be paid for by Mexico. In all likelihood, if a wall is to be built at all, it will be built with Americanbux. Mexico will not reimburse us, especially because sending back murderous criminals to their country does not warrant good relations.
>>
>>728605108
>you realize nearly every other country in the world has stricter border laws than we do right?
but no better enforced if they have land borders.
>>
>>728602974
What would we use as leverage? How about the massive trade deficit that they're profiting from hand over fist? Or the American industry that has sought out cheap labor in Mexico? You imbecile, we have all the leverage and they have none. They'll pay, or we could easily cripple their economy while taking a much smaller hit ourselves.

Also:
It's called The Art of the Deal, not The Art of the Demand. Donald Trump must've had a ghost writer because he clearly has no idea what a good "deal" is.

Tell me how he can get Mexico to pay for this wall with his business skills!
>>
>>728604751
the increased taxes will be passed onto the consumer, mexico ain't gonna feel a thing. American citizens on the other hand are going to be paying billions for a near useless and probably soon dilapidated wall, whilst smugly pronouncing "we didnt pay for it"

That's against World Trade Organisation rules.

If you try bulling Mexicans in an illegal way, they're going to say fuck off. And other countries will support Mexico so that they aren't next.
>>
>>728605101
If they have that kind of power why haven't they done it already? It's the smart thing to do. With the increase in American businesses from increased import/export taxes it will serve to promote American jobs. I don't really fear Mexican businesses increasing prices. Most companies raise prices based on competition and supply, if they could raise the prices successfully they already would have.
>>
>>728605867
Yeah, and they are fucked.

It does not matters, they will cross, do you understand the wall its bullshit, it will not stop for getting people or drugs into america. either way the drugs dealers are everywhere in the world and is not from mexico its form other places.
it's throwing money to garbage

But in WW3 they will stop for building it, they will need more money

would it be more cost effective to build railroad tracks along the path of the wall to bring all those materials out to the middle of nowhere? Cause one trip with a train could bring as many wall pieces as zillion trucks.

Fun fact

The Trump administration just figured out last week that a large portion of the US-Mexico border is the Rio Grande river. If we build a wall on our side it essentially means we are giving up the river to the mexicans.
>>
>>728607438
It wouldn't which is the point. Mexicans living abroad sent home a record amount of money in 2016, over 27 billion dollars. If the US taxed that at 30% there would be almost 7 billion in additional funds that go to the US budget and out of the Mexican economy.
>>
>>728607785
>pedro can afford a taller ladder

Most countries protect themselves from illegals by issuing compulsory ID cards to citizens. No ID, no home, no job, no car, no eduction. Nothing.

But an Anglophone country like the US would never allow the government to do that. It was tried by the Blair/Brown governments in the UK, and people were up in arms. It had to be cancelled.

In the US the reaction would be even stronger, so what can you do?
>>
>>728607438
It wouldn't, but it would eventually pay for the wall.
>>
>>728607875
I lived along the rio grande in new mexico. Ever since elephant butte and caballo Reservoir were constructed, we've controlled the water flow. Most of the year there's no water flowing, so you're point is invalid
>>
>>728607963
People don't like paying taxes, and will avoid it wherever possible. How might a Mexican avoid that tax? Bitcoin.
>>
come one we are talking man not fighting
>>
>>728608465
>Bitcoin
As long as you don't mind insane price fluctuations then go for it.
>>
>>728608465
They aren't smuggling the money back home, there is a system in place that tracks the transaction. I suppose that if it were taxed that there would be some smuggling but I can't imagine that would be much (if any) cheaper.
>>
>>728607875
Get real you cucks the CIA is flying in billions of drugs every year into the U.S. they are calming the public
>see the boys on the tracks
>stop being so short sighted
Why do you think we are in Afghanistan?
Yeah because of drugs
Grow the fuck up
>>
>>728608632
On the US side bitcoin would work for a portion (but not all) of the Mexicans sending money home. On the Mexican side, most of the money is going to rural and/or poor that have almost no tech skills.
>>
>>728608685
I know they're not smuggling it back, nut if you slap on a 30% tax they'll start! You can't track bitcoin, so if they go that route, you'd have to tax everyone, including Americans buying from Americans.
>>
>>728608632
It would be cheaper than 30% tax
>>
So is everyone here an expert in politics/economics?
>>
>>728604751

>check
>>
>>728598554
no it doesnt. most illegal immigrants came here on a plane and overstayed their visa. the number of illegal border-crossers is insignificant
>>
>>728608962
It's not difficult to get bitcoin on a smart phone. Even 3rd world poor have those
>>
>>728608008
Pedro looks at the wall; "Chinga tu Madre, that wall is too tall for my shitty ladder! oh well i'll just use one of these tunnels."
>>
>>728602276
they fly over in a plane, legally, then overstay their visa. why is this so hard for everyone to understand.
>>
>>728609432
