Calling yourself a chef is an insult to those who actually went to culinary school to hone their skills and earn the title. There's no such thing as a "chef" in a burger joint. you're a frycook, or a burger flipper, maybe head of the sammich dressing department, but nowhere near skilled enough to call yourself Chef. Using that logic is no different than your McDonald's counterparts thinking they work in a french restaurant because they have Parfaits, or that they work at some special scottish specialty foods place because everything starts with Mc

a low level cook calling themselves a chef is just spitting in the face of those who had the dedication required to earn it. you don't earn a dick or a cunt, you're born with it, or you pay for it with a good enough doctor. I don't give a flying fuck how many genders there are or what their names are, but someone dedicating their lives, their passion, to learning something, and earning a title with it, is something to be respected. Think about it, any Colonel in the military would get insulted if you just threw that title at a Private wouldn't they? Of course, because they earned their rank. A chef is a level that you achieve, not something just thrown around to make you feel better about your shitty, greasy job at a Wendy's.

cio is IT, 27 years old, with college, is very believable in this day and age, considering that all the old fucks at the company, most likely, can barely turn their computer on. Tech is a younger person's department. I'm 34 and run a computer repair business and even I'm having trouble keeping up with some stuff now. I for one believe the guy.

My boss busts all of our asses tho, we have a small crew, all of us work our asses off and usually work late too.

It's worth it though, last year I got a $300 bonus for christmas, and out boss will occasionally take us out for day trips to a lake or beach close by and bring a ton of beer, weed, and food.

Cells localize RNAs to more efficiently produce proteins where they want them. Some of these proteins are involved in cell movement and invasion. So theoretically, if you could de-localize some of these RNAs, you could prevent cancer from spreading. Essentially, you wouldn't kill the cancer, but you could stop metastasis (which is what makes it deadly)

First year or not, I would still strongly take up my suggestion if I were you. The problem in the industry right now is that there's wayyyyy too many people choosing CS now. At least half of your peers will forget the fundamentals of data structures and algorithms by the time they graduate, and it's a noticeable problem with these grads now -- half of them can't even write an algorithm to reverse a linked list, let alone program "fizzbuzz". You're best off distinguishing yourself immediately.
>>
>>728597478

They do, but its absoloutly staggering how much students don't pay attention. I mean, when I want to an American college, the course work was pretty comprehensive, but the students don't pay attention. Their failure rate is shocking tbh m8.
>>
>>728602828
Luckily, I go to a really good school. Right now we are working hardcore with arrays, lists, and linked-data. My friend who just graduated got a job with the NY Mets making 140k doing some programming analytics for them.
>>

>>
>>728602314

>>
>>728602659
If you're still in college get a good gpa and volunteer as much as you can in labs.
After that, don't immediately go back in for a masters/PhD. You'll look a lot better to schools if you get some industry/academics experience for a while first.
When you're working in industry or an academic lab, ask a shit ton of questions and try to really understand the science of what you're doing. don't be a monkey with a pipette. If you can problem solve, propose a good hypothesis, and design a good experiment, you're better off that like 90% of the people in this field.
>>
>>728602975
>>728603050

Well I'm a Canadianfag, so I can't speak to the quality of your school, but I'll take your word on it. Just DON'T get sidetracked in your upper years with the theoretical courses (esp. theory of computing - worthless unless you plan on writing compilers or doing research). Keep your fundamentals sharp, always look for ways to optimize (i.e, O(n^2) -> O(n)), practice the problems in "cracking the coding interview" etcetc. If you can actually graduate and still know how to code efficiently, congrats. You're already better than half of the grads over-saturating the market.

Your CS 208 is pretty much theory of computing. Would highly recommend taking computer graphics and networking. Networking alone opens up so many jobs. If the database course is more theoretical (i.e, query optimization, indexing choices, concurrency control and query processing algorithms) I would also recommend. All those courses look great though; my university had so much garbage 4th year courses just to act as fillers, none of which had any relevance to the industry.
