It's a manga that's been running for 20+ years now, and it's pretty incredible. One of the things that's most interesting about it, is that the author has basically reinvented himself in his style several times throughout the series, while still keeping it true to its roots. During the first 10 volumes (referred to collectively as the "Golden Age" arc), it's basically gritty 80s style manga of purely dark medieval warfare, becoming borderlined historical fiction. but in volumes 11-12+ literally hell opens up and pours itself onto earth evil dead style but in a completely serious manner. Over the next ~5 volumes you have every bit of bad in his world corrupted and risen to full blown demonic rape-fests; corrupt priests burning everyone at the stake, packs of roving goblins kidnapping women, raping and impregnating them to make more monsters, an evil god-emporer who tries to take over the world etc. It then turns into a traditional swords/sorcery fantasy where Guts assembles a team of rag-tag heroes to destroy the five God Hands of hell, one of whom was his best friend and rival during the Golden Age.

Yup. If they can figure out a different way to achieve the same end then its a different device and can be patented. Barbwire is a good example of this.

There are countless styles of barbwire in the us patent office. During the settlement era of the west barbwire was popular. Countless styles of wire (all serving the same purpose but all constructed different) were patented and sold in various regions and times of the US. Archaeologist use these records when trying to date sites that barbwire are found at.

Pretty cool that it's so well documented that they use it to date sites.
There's a bunch out in the forests near my house, if I can remember it'd be fun to try date it.

Got kind of scary a few years back. no job, family to care for. But it is in our hardest times we discover just how much we can endure. As for now I am back on the grid, a good paying job, sadly not in archaeology, but still I wouldn't have it any other way. Good company and good people I don't mind spending 8 hours with...and the pay is awesome. Did I mention that ?

Most certainly. Not being able to find gainful employment, really starts to make you doubt your skills and abilities. Then that one opportunity presents itself and you hit the ground running. I learned alot about myself and I grew as a person. So yes, hard times helps to focus you mind.

Fancy, I still have to decide what I want to do regarding a masters degree.
Probably going to just go for a 5th year at my uni and get a Masters for Chemical/Molecular engineering. Still have to look into it because I procrastinate and have to decide for my future.

Don't Procrastinate. And try for for the Masters in Chemical/Molecular engineering. I have never regretted getting my masters degree, it was a lot of hard work but if I had postponed it I would never have gone on to do it.

That seems to be the consensus.
I'll have to look into if my uni would pay for it, that's what they did for my sister, or if another uni would be better.
At least I have about a year and a half to decide, never hurts to start looking into it early.

But that's for tomorrow.
