YouTube that shit nigga, play by ear, learn from other musicians, take a few lessons. There are many avenues and they should all be explored as a musician. First thing first, finger exercises before you try to learn anything. The hardest part about guitar is building up the finger strength to even be able to hold down a chord for more than 2 seconds. Lots of finger exercises, make it hurt, make it burn, don't stop them until you can't do it anymore

It was cheap. Didn't like the way it sounded stock so I swapped the EMG 60/85 set I used to have in my partscaster into it. Helped a bunch but it's still a cheap guitar. Oddly enough though it is the fastest playing guitar out of the handful of guitars in the pic. The dk2 is the best sounding one of the bunch. The Ibanez is an old '93 EX, the dobro is a 1935 national. Grandpa bought it new in '36 for $25, died later on in life as people will do, and now I have it.

>>726733867
Right now the TSL needs tubes and a new main PCB. It's an easy fix, but not a cheap one. That amp absolutely rocks. The DSL is an impressive amp as well, it's my main rig at the moment. The 900 doesn't get played too much anymore because it's just such a loud beast. I mean, you CAN turn it down, but then you sacrifice it's tone.

I was going to buy a 2203 or 800 recently but something else came up that required my funds, so....maybe sometime else I guess.

Simple but gets the job done. Did the vibrato install on the SG myself and upgraded the pickups to 496/500T I cannibalized from an old explorer is used to have.

My mommy also said if I earn 100 more GBP she'll let me upgrade my DS1 pedal to MT-2. Though she doesn't like that angry devil music I listen too.

I have a 7 string schecter damien with a crunch lab in the bridge and a liquifire in the neck as well but I'm too lazy to go take a picture. This 8 string fanned fret agile pendulum is stock other than the locking tuners, the strap-locks and the gold knobs.

Next to it which is not pictured is a peavey transfex pro (old but gold) 2x130 watt head hooked into a 4x12 randall speaker cab (it's ok, fairly balanced but could use a little more mids)
which all of which is plugged into a pod hd500x (make sure to fuck with amp sag and hum when you're dialing in, as well as mic setups)

I've been playing guitar for around 8 years, ama.

Also to everyone here who can't shred yet, look into the stylus pick developed by the Berklee College of Music. It's like 5 bucks for a pack of 3 and everyone should own one.
>>
>>726737162
>stylus pick
What is this sorcery? How does it really help?
I don't need it anyway, after 11 years I can say that I finally MASTERED my right hand technique. At least my autism was useful to something...
>>
>>726737162
Preaching to the choir man. Nice axe though.

The stylus isn't something I feel like many people here would have the discipline necessary to use, but I agree: that pick can do magical type stuff with those who use it properly. It worked really quite well for myself too.
>>
>>726719574
I have the same one, without the pickguard tho
>>
>>726737815
You would think so, right?

The stylus will show you everything you didn't know you were doing wrong.
>>
>>726735393
Yeah, bought that back when I didn't know what i was doing. Need to sell and upgrade
>>
>>726737954
No no, I got it trust me. I was autistic enough to play in front of a mirror first, then record myself with a camera while practicing and even used high fps cameras. I developed a complex picking system: wrist for actual picking and elbow to move from string to string. I got the depth right, I almost completely eliminated all tension. Jesus fuck, it was hard, and I would never have done it if only I had a life and didn't practice at least 6/8 hours a day...
>>
>>726721428
love how minimal this looks
>>
>>726738246
Okay listen to me. I'm not shitting you here. I have been playing for 21 years this year. I hadn't tried the stylus before last year. I too, used to play daily for 6 to 8 hours and sometimes more. I had no social life and after school that's what I spent my days doing. I had it all figured out too. By god, I was a badass on a six string motherfucker! I didn't need no stinkin' stylus!

But then I tried one. I immediately became frustrated with it. In order to play well with one, it FORCES you to play in such a way that will improve your already decent technique, ya dig?

I was you before I tried it. Plus, you got nothing to lose.
>>
>>726737162
Aren't you the guy that makes the "how to play like" videos on YouTube?
>>
>>726738829
But isn't that limited to just fast alternate picking? I mean, what about pick slanting? I slant my pick quite a lot, especially when sweeping or sometimes when I do a rake to have more attack. when I'm not shredding I can be very aggressive with the pick, I dig in, and I noticed that my picking style can change a lot (without me realizing) depending on what I am playing.
I'm thinking that the stylus would limit me a lot.

Slant it whichever direction you want bro. It excels at these techniques because the cone tip. Sweeping especially, there is a certain quality that just makes it so much more fluid for some reason. It's effortless compared to your normal pick. Mind you, I don't normally play guitar with one. I use it to practice and train with. Then when I pick up my regular tortex pick everything just seems so much. .....easier? It's difficult to describe. It is a TRAINING TOOL, not a piece of gear, ya know?

>pick slanting
Not him but "pick slanting" is now a technical term used to describe an in/out picking motion rather than one that goes up/down. Two way pick slanting phrases always end on an upstroke. It's a good technique to try. Yngwie uses downward pick slanting. (See Troy Grady.)

I want to add and maybe even emphasize that it is a training tool. If you normally get aggressive and do crazy things with your pick, well, you can still do that shit too. But come time to pull some crazy technical face melting shred solos, you have that tool at your back and it will have trained your hand to do it easier faster smoother better and all.

So guys I'm looking for a new amp, and I was wondering, to the guys that have 100w valve amps, do you gig with them exclusively or do they also do the job for "bedroom" practice. There's a lot of conflicting information with some people saying anything over a few watts is too much for reasonable volume levels whereas others say an amp with a good master volume can be used at lowish levels without a problem. Would love to hear some practical insight

Hey man, I can offer you some practical advice. So, for a long time I had a Marshall JCM 800 100 watt head with a 2X12 cab that I used to gig with. First off, 100 watts is fucking LOUD. Like, way, way too loud for any gig you'll probably play, unless you're playing an arena and even then, most guys these days just use amps with way less than 100 watts and just mic them through the PA. My JCM 800 had a master volume, which was nice but, at least on that amp, it just didn't sound that great turned down. It was very thin sounding at low volumes.

Now, as for "bedroom" amps, the people that say anything over a few watts is too much for reasonable volume levels are mostly correct. I have an 8 watt amp that I use at home (apartment) and even that is way too loud to crank without pissing people off. It doesn't have a master volume, but it DOES have an attenuator, which lets me crank the amp but still keep the volume at a reasonable level that won't get me evicted. So, this is what I would suggest:

If you're playing gigs in bars/ small clubs, etc., you don't need anything more than 30ish watts (even that may be too loud, depending on what music you're playing). Now, if you want to use that same amp at home, get an attenuator. Look up the Tone King Iron Man II attenuator or the Dr. Z Air Brake, or the THD Hot Plate. These will allow you to crank the amp and get those power tubes working but still play it at home at reasonable volume.

As for the JCM 800, I ended up selling it because it was just way more amp than I needed. I now gig with an 18 watt amp that is more than enough for the club gigs I play and use the 8 watter at home, although I sometimes bring that amp to gigs as well depending on the size of the venue. Hope this helps and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Of course :) Also, I get it. There's something really fucking sexy about a 100 watt head sitting there on stage or in your bedroom. It's one of the icons of rock. However, why pay for something that you're never going to fully be able to use? There's a reason why the boutique amp companies are all selling these lower watt versions of classic big wattage amps. What's the 20 watter you're looking at?

Fair enough and I can relate, since that's EXACTLY why I bought the JCM 800, lol. I'm not hating on people that have 100 watt heads and use them at home, because I used to be one of them. I'm just offering advice from a practicality standpoint.

Is that a reissue RD or one from '70?

Have: Jackson js22 with stock pickups and
Dadd's. Pretty dope ass guitar for beginners imo, would recommend highly as a first metal guitar. I run it through an audiobox and Amplitube 4 and comes through pretty clear.

Want: Cardinal Custom with 2 Dimarzios and
probably stay with the Dadd's. Fucking love
the body for some odd reason. Would also love to get a BIAS FX setup for it too.

Can't wait til i'm no longer poor.
>>
I dont own this but its in my 'acid shit' folder and I think it looks so fucking cool
its Zakk Wylde's.

Both Korean made second tier guitars, so not too expensive, but still great fucking guitars

Parker stopped making the P series, so you often can find these for $400-600 online. I nabbed the one on the right for $250 and the other for $350
>>
I play a veleno and Travis bean through a laney klipp, hiwatt dr103 and ampeg v4 full stacks. Fuck you.
>>
>>726761171
that the OC-2?
>>
>>726761031
that's not a pj?
>>
>>726761081
Not great tbh but that might be because his playing sounded like ass
>>
>>726761081
That was a fucking terrible demo tbh. But the tone seems pretty dope for some true kvlt black metal.
>>
>>726761081
Maybe I'd have an opinion if he played a riff and not just noodle around
>>
>>726761260
No, its a MXR Prime Distortion. My pedals from left to right are as follows: Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9, MXR Prime Distortion, Behringer Ultra Chorus(This pedal is ass), and a Boss DS1
>>
>>726761178
Do you know if they ever made a lefty version of this model? I'm a southpaw, and I find it really hard to find left handed versions of pretty much anything that's not a take on the Strat design in my neck of the woods...
>>
damn i need a new guitar. im playin an old squire. what do my /b/rothas recommend?
>>
>>726761986
I just googled it and there's actually a Black Parker P42 (the exact model and color I have) that's a rare lefty, going for $700
>>
>>726762272
Cool. I might have to check that out. Thanx.
>>
>>726762006
Mexican Strat
>>
can someone please post videos of themselves playing?
>>
>>726762487
good shit. That guitar is great. My P38 is just not quite comfy for me, though has an amazing clean tone. The P42 is more of a jack of all trades, but is so good with rock playing.
>>
>>726762712
What's the tremolo like on them?
