In my opinion, alcohol is a hard drug. It heavily impairs your vision and thoughts, on top of being quite addictive. Therefore, I would classify it in the same category as heroin. I have been an alcoholic for awhile, and every time I go, literally everyone there has problems with either alcohol or heroin. Maybe one or two people out of about 40 is there for another drug. I think these two drugs are the deadliest of all. They may be the hardest to quit because of their withdrawal symptoms (benzos as well), and they are both true scourges to society. I don't think alcohol should be illegal because it would cause so many problems with the legal system, tax payer money, and over crowding in jails. I actually don't have a concise opinion on alcohol being legal since it is such a complex thing to talk about and I'm not educated in anything. I do know that it ruins lives. It is an unfortunate story that this girl died, OP, (provided this isn't bait). But be thankful that you aren't spending life in prison if you happened to be intoxicated. It's such a fine line, chance vs. intoxicated crime...
