Can confirm, rattos make good pets. Had one years ago. He was 19.5 inches long counting tail. Fucker was huge. My cat was afraid of him. Needless to say, ratto could come out and run around without fear of being eaten. And I swear he knew that.

I've lost close human family members and felt less emotional pain than when I lost any of my 4 cats. But probably because pets love us unconditionally. They don't judge us (unless abusive) and are there for us no matter what. They don't care if you failed at something, are struggling with an addiction, or plain fucked up in general. Despite any of that, they are there to cuddle and play, even if we don't want to.

Final word of advice, you may not want to be in the room for the injection. It's very hard to handle. But kitty would probably feel more comfortable with you petting her. Tough choice to make. For me, those last few moments are precious, albeit very painful. But time will heal that pain eventually.

Do you have the money to get her cremated? If so, do it. I didn't and buried my friend in the back yard (very deep). Saddens me to know when I move I can't take her with me. Cremation will cost around 300USD for a "private" cremation, meaning only your kitty, if irc. There's also a "communal" cremation where they will do her with a few other animals for about half that.

There's some really nice pet urns available on the web. Much cheaper, and just as nice, as what vet or cremation place would charge. Even small necklace type ones should you want to always have a part of her with you all the time.

Just something to consider.

Sorry, I know this sucks. But I really regret not having the money to have my friend cremated.

That's an awesome price for a private cremation! Nearest place to me (40minutes away) wanted almost 300. Even IF I would've had the money, I dunno I'd be able to drive 40 mins with my deceased best friend in the car, and than waited the amount of time for the process.

Vets will arrange for this type of thing and take care of it for the owner, but they charge a shitload, and even than you don't know if it's just your pet. :(

same thing happened to me in 2015 with my 15 years old cat, hurt so bad. We still tried to save her//keep her a little longer, but it didn't work, she died some days later while we were taking her to the vet. In 2014 i had lost my other one from diabities, but he lived really long considering the gravity of it. If i think too much about it i can still cry haha.

You'll feel better with time anon, it's gonna be really hard the first months, but focus on all the happy memories, and at this age she had a really good kitty life.

The day my dog was put to sleep is burned into my head and it will probably hurt me for the rest of my life.He was picked up from the street as an adult dog so idk how old he exactly was,but I had him for 15 years.
