FBI doesn't pay that much.

Depending on the company, he's maybe a high end sysadmin or maybe a dept head.

FBI pays fuck-all. I sat down with one guy and he gave me his day-to-day. It's a huge pain in the ass. To fly he has to meet with the pilot, explain he's flying while armed. he has to move where they say they tell them to move, etc etc..

And they wonder why nobody wants to join the bureau .

Hm, hours are very weird, but in a good way. One week I can work only 3 or 4 days, very weird hours, and another I can be called in all five days plus the weekend. It's the nature of my specific position (ER Physician Associate), but the base salary is always met because there's extra shit I can be assigned to if needed. Some people wouldn't like this, but I'm not one to abide by a schedule anyway. Other PA's have very planned out schedules though.

Plus I get to actually help people and feel less like a piece of shit.

There is only 24 hours in a day, how much harder do rich people work for their money??

Do they work 30 hour days, 48 hour days. I doubt it. Though it does take a great amount of skill to be born into wealth, after all we all had a choice as to who our parents were.

i never said certs = experience. BUT having nothing at all definitely doesn't help you when looking for jobs. I got my ccna just so people would look at my resume. it's like that here in the Chicago area. I've been in this career for about 5yrs now. my experience is going up so i agree, no need for certs to show how well you understand networking.

I've found the best way to get a good position is to network (no pun intended). That's how I've found most of my people.

rich people do work hard for their money, but so do poor people.

When you are raised wealthy, the expectations are much much higher for you. You start training at a very young age - best schools, constantly in competition with classmates, being second best isn't fucking allowed.

You go to summer programs. If you fall behind at all you are shamed, punished. You learn to speak other languages.

Here is the biggest difference - if you fuck up, you have massive safety nets. If you have a mental problem - you can get help. Drug problem? Rehabs instead of prison. Get drunk and hit someone? you might get off, where a poor person is going to prison for 10 years. Waste 20 years of your life?

Your excellent education and connections can still get you a great job. If poor? maybe not so much. ( Although I do know a guy who was homeless until 40, went back to school, and is now making about $60k as a network engineer.. he is 55 )

It isn't that people are ( necessarily ) lazy, or get things handed to them, or whatever - those aren't really accurate.

I know lots of people who work really hard - some poor, some rich. I know people who are "lazy" - most of them struggle with some sort of mental illness.

Many people "coast" through life, and this looks different depending on your wealth level. For the very rich it can mean basically just having a hobby.. like painting. For the very poor it means food banks, shared government housing, and maybe a bit of illegal income.

why does society value a lawyer more than a ditch digger?
Why is an executive valued more than a lumberjack?

Society needs a way to weed out the wheat from the chaff. Our current method does this quite imperfectly.

I have literally 9 lawyers in my immediate family. The amount of money they make is all over the place. None of them works for a top firm or anything - the ones you make the most have their own practices, and they do well ( 200k ), but those are practices they have built up over 20+ years.

The ones who make bank either

1) Top tier, working their fucking asses off for a big firm, competing with best of the best for crumbs - but they succeed

2) Start their own firm, do Personal Injury, run lots of advertising LOTS, then refer 90% of the cases that come in. You skim your percentage off the top, re-funnel into advertising until you see diminishing returns. I know two jokers who make like 10+ mil a year doing this.
