Remember the good old days before cancerous little insufferable 12 year old cunts took over the internet?

ITT: We pretend its still the good old days

Anyone who doesn't remember the better times; fuck off and kill yourselves
>>
>>724729742
Curious, how old were you back then? I was an insufferable 12 yr old cunt, but I mostly stuck to making my geocities websites.

So. Many. Marquees.
>>
>>724730007
I don't know, I'm 25 now but I was a teenager back then. The problem is with the more recent wave of kids coming on the internet. Everyone is one now whereas at one time the internet was still very much for the weirdos of the world.

If you're 25 now you weren't even a teenager.

I was talkin about like 1997. You probably don't even remember BBSes before that

But I get what you're saying. I like it more now, really. Having normies and 12 yr olds is a trade off I'm willing to make to have millions of insta-tiddies at my disposal.
>>
>>724730916
Oh no I was on the internet back then too but I mean more the old days of 4chan, before it was all cancer and trap faggots
>>
>>724731050
Now you're just romanticizing the past for no good raisin. /b/ was always cancer. And I'd argue 4chan came around after the good old days.
>>
>>724730916
its just not worth it in my eyes. the instant titties is great and all but that is outside 4chan anyway, and there were always tits here. 4chan is just spam, traps, shit pasta, and alt-right retards nowadays. I miss the days when people did things just for the lulz and thought the posts were still shit they weren't gay as fuck and were at least a little more varied. But the whole internet has been ruined by little kids and the people who make content for them. Its really depressing to see this place I spent so much time inhabiting as a social outcast become what it has today.
>>
>>724731412
/b/ was always cancer but traps were just that- traps. fags posting dicks were an object of ridicule and memes weren't stolen and used by corporations. Also people didn't really care about politics and raids werent just some little preteens spamming some losers twitch chat.

>>724731694
I guess so, but the stuff you miss is still alive. /b/ isn't the only random board on the interwebs, the anons you used to laugh and raid with just fucked off to different less gay and less modded chans. You can do it too.
>>
And so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed just to get it all out, whats in my head and I-I-i am feeling... a little peculiar....
And so I wake in the morning and I step outside and I take a deep breath, and get real high and I, scream from the top of my lungs, WHATS GOING ON?!

And I say.....
HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA, HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA....I SAID HEY! Whats going on?
And I say
HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA, HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA....I SAID HEY! Whats going on

And he tries... Oh my gosh do I try! I try all the time, in this institution.....
And he prays! Oh my gosh do I pray! I pray all sanctity...MYEEH... for a revolution!

And I say.....
HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA, HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA....I SAID HEY! Whats going on?
And I say...

Don't cry outloud! Just keep inside... And learn how to hide, your feelings.....

HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA, HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA....I SAID HEY! Whats going on? YEAH!

And as a result we have dyed hair faggots literally everywhere
>>

Then were did all the people from 10 years ago fuck off too? I've tried all the other imageboards and they're all either dead or flooded by pedos which is worse than death. I've been looking for my people for literally a decade now and could never find them.

We go where we have always been: to hell. Our kind were never meant for the light of day, and some fucker broke rules one and two so often that they shone the sun into our little dark box and illuminated the travesties we had wrought, leaving us in the burning eye of day. The internet was once a place to hide from the cruelties of society; now it is society writ large. Like we were exiled from that world, we are exiled from our own. Unsung, unfound, unheard. Welcome to our doom. There's no way out; we are stuck in a pit from which there will be only the escape of death.

yup. 4chan used to be a anarcho-capitalist (with a grain of salt) paradise.

wanna know what changed that? paid shills. internet is becoming the new television and i for one am scared.
especially considering how television used to be in the past. i mean around the days of its inception. this is a really good televised interview with aldous huxley that, from almost 60 years later, is still extremely relevant today. they would never show something this real nowadays because the medium has been compromised.. is this the fate of our internet? i pray not.

>real anonymous
>operation chanology

Choose one. Operation Chanology was the turning point of /b/. Before that, we were basically pure chaotic neutral. No right or wrong morality motivating our actions. The only thing that drove /b/ back then was the pursuit of lulz. One day /b/ would track down animal abusers, the next /b/ would flood an epileptic support forum with flashing gifs. /b/ had no moral compass, and that was the point. We sought out lulz, no matter where they came from.

Operation Chanology flooded /b/ with white knights who wanted to feel like a cool hacker taking down some big bad evil. The primary goal, for the first time, was not lulz.

Then that faded, and somehow anons snapped hard in the opposite direction. Now instead of fighting the big bad threat, the alt-right circle-jerk newfags are raising one up.

So yeah. /b/ was never good. But /b/ was never evil, either. That was the goddamn point. Fuck politics all together. I miss the lulz.

Hey.

The world is depressing but you dont have to be.
Believe me, I have my down moods, but when I am up like this I can see it for what it is. Truly, one needs to be the change they want to see in the world. Lately, embracing this concept has been very positive for me and I find myself feeling down alot less..
My life is still a mess, but I have been improving and making plans and I think I may end up okay.
I love you, anon. You are never alone. In the end. I'm on your side. Don't give up.. The future is never certain.

Its already happened friend. Corporations control it all now. Memes are monetized and politicized, its all either alt right propaganda or super left propaganda. Not just 4chan but a lot of the internet once leaned more towards anarchic capitalism. The authority is everywhere now and just as Aldous Huxley overpopulation has given rise to a totalitarian regime that controls our freedom on the internet. The government and cable companies want to control as sell the internet with stuff like SOPA but the government has already had a strong presence for years

Two out of three of your replies are to me. My thinking is that we can't escape; we're doomed. I'd love to see the brighter side here, but even a commune would fall prey to the world. All borders have been set. Here we are in the cracks, screaming at the world "LEAVE US ALONE" but authority does not like a remainder in the equation. The only choices for us are utter revolt to the point of taking up arms, or languishing in despair until the only unbroken promise is fulfilled. That promise is the sweet silence of death, and as pleasant as that peace may be, it does not compare to a good steak, or doing something for the lulz alone. We are the left-overs, the living fossils in flesh and blood. Either take up arms or bend over and think of England, as it were.

Real anonymous in chanology?

REAL anonymous participated in chanology for 1(one) month. After they forced the entire movement to go nonviolent at the end of january and the hacking/attacks stopped (we were ripping shit the fuck up m8, it was great) anonymous as it stood packed up, left, and disbanded. Old anon would have been hacking the shit out of the clinton foundation. Like holy shit, we would have been hitting that shit HARD. personally I believe that something only becomes hopeless when you admit it is.
the best we can do besides killing ourselves is to do our best to be a positive influence on people, to conduct ourselves properly and spread the good word of truth. people are looking for answers, and its imperative that the right people provide those to them.
hope only dies with the last believer.

There is no winning this fight though. Why bother fighting back at all if the odds are so heavily stacked against you? I don't like the thought of just bending over and taking it but what else is there to be done? I just want my place back. Every time the downtrodden or socially misunderstood claim any space of our own the horde inevitably invade and make it theirs.

People would pop in and demand free help for their cars and we'd send them to Napa for vacuum recharge kits, give them instructions that would burn out their cars computer, tell them to test their air bags with a battery, tear up their carpet to find the "fuel reset switch"... ahhh, heady times.

November 17, 1992. MLB holds its expansion draft to create the Colorado Rockies and the Florida Marlins. I had a TV ran into my families computer room so I could keep track of it all on CNN, while updating people and talking about it all in an AOL chatroom. Had good old pencil and paper charts to track who the teams were drafting at what positions and such. The f'ing Marlins drafted one of my favorite Royals prospects, Jeff Conine, early on. He went on to be become Mr. Marlin, dammit.

People from all around the country, in one chat room, talking about the same thing while watching it happen live on TV. Fucking blew my mind back then. Technology.....wow.

You're 25. You were in kindergarten in the early days of the Internet as we oldfags remember it, nice try though.

The rooty toots ruined it.

>>724747179
Yep, those were the days. I don't really recall any mention of females that didn't involve the word cumdumpster. It probably stopped when the wave of faggots came. Then people either wanted to destroy them or call them godesses, or both.

Your tiny ass 10KB picture would have taken 6-10sec to fully load when I first got on the internet.

We have come a long way. The internet back in the 2000s was rad. It's shit today.

Idk , the chans and the web has changed in the past 10 years or so. I agree a lot of the change seems shitter to me. Tech has improved though. There is more potential out there. It's not that the web has gone to shit, the user base has gone to shit.

I still am optimistic about the future. We have learned a lot, we can build something better if we choose to.

Yeah bit change is part of life. Nothing stays the same. I took what I experienced from that time and brought it out into the world.
I have a phone number list up in my office, one of the numbers listed is for "cyber security police" the contact name is Officer Snacks, WT.
No one has ever called me out in it or questioned it. But I have gotten dirty looks from a couple people which makes me think they called the number lul.
>>
>>724749485
Sideways into nothingness? There is like one post a month now on other boards and imageboard culture is pretty much done. People forgot how to have fun and ridiculous morals, corporations, and authority killed the /b/tard way of life.

Things have changed but /b/ should never be a way of life, it should be part of your life
>>
>>724749934
Change is a part of life, yes, but /b/ isn't real life. And normally things change for the better, which /b/ did not. The internets days are numbered, at least as we know it.
>>
>>724749519
It's always when something majorly new happens that the outcasts will be the pioneers of that new field. I don't know but I hope with the new technological advances we can get a new golden era.
>>
>>724750263
Maybe, but with the internet and law getting more and more restricted it seems unlikely that anything new could be as fun as what used to be.
>>
>>724750187
Things don't always change.for the better. Still, I believe as long as there is life, there is hope.
Not in the inspiring uplifting overcoming difficult challenges kind of way.
More of a We can invite them.to lunch and have them all shot so we can get back to having fun kind-of way
>>
>>724750413
Take it from a biologically old oldfag, it's always been like that for the last 30 years. Same old story. Shit changes, but also for the better a lot of the time. Learn to grow up

Think of the hyper realistic VR porn thats coming
>>
>>724750437
One day they might just all fuck off to a different site. Right now there are still kids coming here because they think it makes them a cool hacker. Nothing last forever though, especially websites. The oldfags will probably still be here when they leave and then there might be hope for the return of the lulz

>>724751210
Maybe, some people in this thread alone said they manage to keep the spirit alive that way. Me though, I feel like its not the same as old /b/ unless there are a decent number or active users. Niche communities might just be the next best thing though. The essence of /b/ and pretty much imageboards in general used to be lulz above all else. There was no real morality or politics involved, people just wanted a laugh. It'd be hard for a smaller community to raid corporations/sites/whatever but if they can keep that feeling alive then true /b/tards will still be around.
