Yea, I actually got the truck for a steal. Semi-reasonable city to me used it for their landscaping division, never pulled anything heavy, mostly hauled mulch with it. Bought it for $3k of eBay with a "bad transmission", ending up just being a shift solenoid. And the tranny was rebuilt 2yrs/40k miles earlier, so it's nice and fresh. 7.3L with only 140k miles on it...New tires, and have you ever seen diesel oil that wasn't pure black? Truck was very well taken of, and I feel lucky to have gotten it, my only complain is its two wheel drive...Otherwise, I would lift it a little and put some nice wheels/tires on it

Mine is a combination of decent job, some side money, and smart choices and a bit of luck. Bought my mustang from a friend who bought it new, I got it for $25k with 32k miles on it, payment is $400. Frontier payment that I just bought is $185. F250 I bought cheap($3k) and got lucky with only $200 to fix it. I also outright own my own "home", so I have no rent(just lot rent that family owns, so $100/month). By "home", I mean an older, but in good shape single wide trailer. It's nothing fancy at all, but for me while I was single it was all I needed. I bought the trailer from my mom who moved out when she got remarried for $4k. Basically what renting a place would cost me for a year...And I was there for almost five years. I'm not rich by any means, I make about $50k a year right now as a auto technician at a dealership. Never went to school for it, so I had no student loans to repay. I struggled for a while thru my 20's, but starting into my 30's now things are starting to come together for me. My two vehicles cost me about the same thing that renting a decent place would cost most ppl. With my car trailer payment and the frontier payment, and a little more on my credit cards at the moment than I would prefer, I am getting stretched financially beyond my comfort zone...But that just means no more toys til I get some.things paid off/down. I've also been buying/fixing/reselling cars on the side for extra money, actually about to go get my dealer license and become legit.
