>I suffer making $100,000 - $1,000,000 dollars in my late 20's living in San Francisco working at Facebook/Apple

Jesus Christ millenials truly are the biggest entitled snowflakes in history. I will never, ever take a millenial's rant about boomers seriously ever again.

It's expensive living in SF. $2000 a month for a studio apartment? On top of that, you're surrounded by faggots and millennials. Fuck that. I can't even afford to live in my car out there.

So you live in a lower class suburb an hour out. Living in a high-rent major city is retarded at any income.

There is literally nowhere on earth where you can make six-digits, live in the first world and work at the coziest companies in existence all within a decade of graduating and still claim that you're suffering.

Still leaves them with over 1400 a week after rent if they earned $100,000 a year

Facebookers are entitled little Kool-Aid-drinking shits who have mindless devotion to the company and don't recognize any of the bullshit they're inflicting on the internet or their local communities. I've had friends get swallowed up by them. They're killing the Bay Area.

A. Born rich and therefore have no idea what being poor is like
B. Celebrities

All the rich people who kill themselves are celebrities. The in-the-shadows executive/investor types with no celebrity and no limelight are the happiest people alive.

false statistics stupid. It's more like 30%. When they stopped counting people who stopped looking for work because they already looked for years and couldn't find shit, that's when the official statistics became propaganda tier lies.

As a NEET, not doing anything with your time is absolutely horrifically depressing. If you "can*t" afford, make it affordable, move to another city etc.

If you "can't" find a job, then you do not want one OR you want a very specific list of jobs which unless attainable you settle with unemployment because you are a wuss.
>>
>>724331922
Oh, no way dude. Because of my company I can afford to do that and it feels fucking amazing. But it sure as fuck woldn't feel amazing if I still lived with my parents.

It's all about the environment you're in. Posting away on an imageboard is great fun when you have an entire house to yourself and can have hot sex as loud as you want, smoke weed in the living room with music blasting, as opposed to stealthmasturbating with your mom folding laundry right above you.

Trust me, money makes all the difference. Everyone my age is depressed because there's no money man. THat's what it is.

>>724331944
I don't recommend that dude. Get a house in the country or something. It's better for your mental health to be away from your parents at 25.

I'm 33, pharmaceutical sales rep, married to a successful graphic designer. We live in a suburb of Detroit. shit is affordable but just can't save enough money it seems. Mostly stupid shit like fixing something in the house or car that's eating our savings. I'm trying to start a business on the side. There's literally no reason why a millennial making more than 70k should whine about life. Unless you have some insanely expensive health issue. Man the fuck up.
>>
>>724326241
That article does not maths.

I make about $50k a year and I live in MD (which is very expensive compared to the average). I have a house, car, food, and money left. It's still $1600 a month for my house and $4-500 a month for food....

If you make $200,000 a year and you only have to pay $2,000 a month for an apartment then you're getting about $3000 a week...net....

You'd literally have to have holes in your pockets to piss away that kind of money. Even if you lived on $12 coffee and had a coke habit you'd still have a decent IRA at the end of the year.

>tiny violin

>>724333329
You are living in a fantasy stupid. Here's how it really works:

>Dishwasher starts working
>wants to prove himself
>works hard everyday, never late, always on time, no sick days
>sticks with the restaurant/hotel for years
>lazy slacker company owner's son joins workforce
>texts all day, does nothing, has sex in the bathroom with his girlfriend then blames the dishwasher
>dishwasher of 5 years gets fired and has no real experience on his resume other than being a dishbitch for 5 years
>company owner's son gets promoted, inherits restaurant/hotel, lives happily ever after
>dishwasher lives in a run down rat infested ghetto fo the rest of his life.

THAT's what working hard in the modern era gets you. If I didn't have my company I would be fucked. That was back when my company wasn't doing too great. It was depressing. Only to get that useless top, but with a useful recommendation from the sales leader which grants you the next step on the ladder into management.

I guess most people here are just to young or naivƩ to understand what's worth struggling for.

You cannot survive without a 4x4 car where I live unless you have a passive income stream. It's like that in some places in the country.

You sound like a very stupid person overall. If you call the economy being dead "lacking conviction" then you are an infuriatingly stupid person to be around. I hope you lose everything in a divorce or something and your son/daughter inherits poverty for life so I can laugh at you.

I did dishes in a shitty seafood rest., got some contacts then I worked transport, both hazardous and hectic.

Moved to into sales from transport, nice being inside for a change, beat my competition so got my first promotion to educate others in sale, started my education from the money I earnt and yes, at age 27 I am a teacher making 25$/hour.

However I only work 2-3 days a week to able to enjoy more things then work in life.

wise anon is wise, however; those numbers are still low. the national numbers for "unemployment" are registered in the most absurd way possible, phasing out people who have been getting unemployment checks for a certain amount of time (around 12 weeks) and those who just quit looking. How nice for you. What year was this exactly? If it was before 2012 you need to shut the fuck up and stop pretending that today is the same as yesterday. There. Are. NO. Jobs. Get it?

I have trouble finding customers and my business is barely surviving because. THERE. ARE. NO. JOBS.

I don't work anymore but if I did I sure as hell wouldn't be going anywhere. I worked my ass off in construction for 5 years and got fuckign nowhere, just deeper in debt from these student loans. And the only ones who ever got promoted were the owner's blood relatives of whatever company I was working for. It's like that out there you see. Nepotism and all.

So you got lucky and landed a lucky job. Now you somehow equate that with "hard work". I can guarantee I worked harder than you for many years and it got me nowhere.

For the last 30 - 40 years, the cost of living has been increasing faster then the average wage has. Unionized companies are becoming rarer. More jobs are outsourced to 3rd world shit holes. The increased cost of med coverage means that fewer companies include benefits.

Once you look at how much food is out there it's not as much as you think. I read an article saying an average bagel price alone is ~$8. So if you figure a Bagel cost (here in MI about $1-1.5) is roughly 5x greater than many other areas and apply that to other food it paints a lot different picture.

A. Toronto isn't all of Canada

100k per year = 67k after taxes
67k / 12 = 5,583 (per month)
5k / 4 = 1300 (per week)
monthly costs of a 1 bed apartment is 3,460
5k - 3k = 2k
2k - other living expenses = maybe a few hundred bucks at the end of each month left.
(gas if driving) (food if you want to eat) (electricity) (water + sewage)
all in all, youre a dipshit. I live in TN where my cost of living is rediculously low so my $12 an hour is suitable to be alive and happy.

When were you born OP. If you were born after like '83 you're probably a millennial, a.k.a the majority of the population of the US.

Even if you're not a millennial yourself you're still saying that like 80 million people are all entitled software engineers.

I for one am a millennial and I'll probably end up working a shit job until I retire at the age of 80, because if you can't get into STEM you're not the typical inner city millennial that everyone talks shit about, you're just another worthless pleb holding up society from the bottom.
>>
>>724335044
1983 is still gen y territory. Millenials are after 2000.

what the actual fuck do they complain about...Iam pretty sure there are people in san francisco earning less..he is complaining that a coffee costs 8 $, who the fuck is serving the coffee? a waitress...and that waitress can afford living in/around ssan francisco and she doesnt earn 1 million dollar
>>
>>724334573
Well you are complaining harder, that you've proved.

So I'll take a shot, your efforts are misplaced, much like your anger when you believe the promotion fairy will magically observe and award the hard work you put in.

You are mouthy online so you're more likely the silent type IRL thus the employer never noticed you because you were invisible.

Years passed and instead of your wallet growing fatter only your resentment did. So you begun nurturing it more and more by spewing bile on the net and getting a release for your personal issues by projecting them onto others.

My father told me that hard work is useless if it goes by unnoticed, unless you have a private company but most people start off public.

So it doesn't matter if you're never late and always perform perfectly if people doesn't notice.

What you have to do besides hard work is to socialize and build a network, only from there on does the real competition begin.

The only privilegie you get today is if you can afford a reasonable education since it makes finding those specifics jobs easy, assuming you're ready to move wherever for the first gig.

That's my experience, ranging from 2005-2017.

I have worked every summer since I was 13 and never said no to work unless I already had one.

In total, I have likely had more then 15 different jobs until I settled to become a teacher.

The only full time (guaranteed) job was in transport, sale/education and teaching.
>>
>>724334799
Yes, transport, sat in a car for hours, lifted cement sacks for hours, inhaled all sorts of dangerous shit because work-safety didn't exist back then.

Learn to co-exist and make contacts or sure, settle for whatever neet means and call people online "bitch".
>>

I don't think that's a solution for everyone though considering all the people that are homeless there also. It could work for a few people but not if everyone did it.

>>food stamps
I just did a quick search on CA's food stamp program and it looks like out there you need to be making less than 15.5K to qualify so most people working a job wouldn't qualify.

Not sure how old you are but hats off to you running your own business. My Gpa owned one and my dad owns one and it's not for everyone. I hope you are a few years in as appearantly the worst years are 1, 3, and 5.

I grew up in the ghetto and worked hard to get my family out. I never got anywhere until I started my own business. That's my life. I clawed my way from the bottom. Bosses only ever promoted their sons from what I saw.

I did socialize. That's the point. Yet it still goes nowhere if the only one getting promoted is the son, get it? You don't seem very smart.

Let me give you some perspective. At my college in 2015, there were THOUSANDS of people applying for FREE internships with shitty corporate companies fetching coffee and cleaning out printers. Thousands.

Can you even remotely picture that having been handed things to you on easy street? Fuck off buddy.

>>724335335
I have 2 good dumpsters to score food in. Always fresh and always full. You have to go looking for it.

Yep, if you make money you better keep it hidden. Unless you want to starve to death.

My business is 3 years old and I'm getting $1200 per month without working. We make a decent amount of money but its never enough.

I disgaree with you though, it's for anyone who wants to be paid without working themselves. I will never waste my precious time working for someone else who's only going to promote their slacker nephew/cousin/son anyway.
>>
>>724335153
Millennials are not after 2000 mate. The range actually goes from early 80's to early 2000's.

Millennials are the majority of the population of the US and if your family is poor and you don't absolutely blow your education out of the water you're not going to get into STEM.

You get to watch as your prospects get replaced by computers and realise that as far as society goes the best you can be is a modern-day peasant, ranging down to a straight up unneeded person in society.
>>
>>724335576

>>
>>724326241
Rents closer to 3k a month in any area somewhat close. 2 hour commute to work to lower the price a tiny bit. 36k a year alone on rent, that's not covering insurance, food, utilities, clothes, public transport or car. Everything is inflated by about 4x where they are. I'm a computer engineer making $67k a year, I'm so glad I do not work there or I'd be in debt.
>>
>>724326241
You don't get context, you stupid cunt. Their point is that it costs so much to live in that shit hole that $1,000,000 feels like nothing.

I may be a stupid millennial out in California, but I'm not stupid enough to move to San Francisco. LA is expensive, but at least you can find places where you don't need to make a million just to afford fucking rent.
>>
>>724326241
Also, do you think all millennials work for one of the most powerful companies in the world?

You're bunching an entire generation in with a hand full of people working for FUCKING APPLE.
>>
>>724335744
"Millennials (also known as Generation Y) are the demographic cohort following Generation X. There are no precise dates for when this cohort starts or ends; demographers and researchers typically use the early 1980s as starting birth years and the mid-1990s to early 2000" - Wikipedia.

Millennial refers to being the generation that reached adulthood around the turn of the millennium.

Anyways the point is a fuckton of millennials couldn't even dream of living in an expensive city and working as a software engineer. That's the people with nice, middle class, supportive families who helped them get educated.

The rest of us are plebs.

Also I'd say the older age of a millennial is like 34-ish.
>>
>>724336082
Yeah I always get pissed when those middle class or higher fuckers with a good life handed to them talk about us living in the ghetto being lazy.

Like they expect Wendy's to pay for a house, car, boat, RV, and all the other luxuries they inherited from their rich parents, not to mention a decent fucking job on top of it all. That's an impossible thing to ge tby itself.

And then they delude themselves into thinking it's "hard work" or "determination" or some other such nonsense.
>>
Sigh, the amount of losers in this thread,

You should do one thing, start boxing or any legal fighting and compete and you will notice that hard work and business-like ferocity outdoes anyones son, whether it be Tysons or P.acquiaos

That is my final advice, you think "hard work" is not enough. You think someones son (or daughter which nobody mentioned) automatically surpasses you.

Well you are wrong, I would never give my kid or any friend for that matter a job that one of my employeƩs are more qualified to.

If that HAS happened to you, get over it and stop crying already.

Move to a city with more jobs, a country with better opportunities whatever you gotta do.
>>
>>724335569
I'm >>724335335
I've never had to thankfully bc I've worked at least 2 jobs at once to make sure it never came to that and now i'm working full time (and still part time on Saturday) and can support me and my girlfriend pretty well.

On your business that's great man! i'm looking into potentially renting out houses in the future to live off that. On owning your own business I personally don't have anything against it and it's not as "hard" as people make it out to be in the sense of when you look at other companies you have to wonder "how are they still in business? I could do better than them." I think for some people it's too much effort and others are afraid it will fail.
>>
>>724336240

>>724336415
Thanks man. It takes a lot of money to make a little bit of passive money. I'm actually looking into paying people to write books for me so I can live off the income of royalties but it costs thousands of dollars upfront.

No, business is not hard at all and it's a lot easier than working for someone else. Try it and be ambitious, but don't mistake hard work for progress. Progress is 90% luck. Finding that client, or having randomly rubbed them the wrong way for no discernable reason is a daily coin flip and it affects large chunks of your business at a time. It's luck, not work. Only money to invest in it increases your luck.

>>724336568
Another moron handed everything to him from the cradle. Why don't you fuck off. Go boating with Mommy's credit card and talk to your rich friends about how lazy we all are.
>>
>>724335614
Not the guy you replied to but if you're stuck with your parents for that long I would ask one question. Why? There are tons of opportunities out there to make more money. The cheapest you could do would be learning to code and write your own programs. The knowledge is literally free in most cases and you could make some money off of it. The most expensive you could do is some sort of college or trade school but then you start making good money.

Basically if you aren't investing in yourself you WILL be stuck with your parents your whole life but it's your choice at that point.
>>
>>724336240

This guy
>>724335569
Will probably do well if he works as hard as he claims to do, then in 5 years tell people they have to work hard and have determination.

Music is a great industry to make an example of, guitarists don't get got because their daddy had cash, they get good because they practice more than their competition.

Django Reinhardt was a fucking nobody Gypsy until he made contacts.

>>
>>724336700
Not a bad idea about the royalties. You could even do something along the lines of what you did to make your business take off and talk about the struggles and such. That could allow you to do a good portion of the work and then just have someone proof-read it and change whatever which should lower your cost depending on how that works.
>>
>>724336818
That's the paradox. I don't work anymore. My employees do. I will never be pretentious enough to tell people to work hard because i learned firsthand that work doesn't pay.

I'd recommend selling weed before I'd recommend working hard to anyone. I know a guy who made it that way.

>Music is a great industry to make an example of, guitarists don't get got because their daddy had cash, they get good because they practice more than their competition.
