Does social anxiety ever go away on its own? I used to be really shy as a kid, then I kind of started 'developing' terrible anxiety ever since I attended high school. Some people say it goes away after you hit your twenties, I am 18 now and I'd like to stay away from meds.

I drank, and made friends while doing so. It seemed to help, but seemed to come back when I sobered up.
A little bit of pot here and there seemed to have helped.
Seems to have abated since I got into a long term relationship with someone I can be myself around
