Its simple.
Men deal with rejection better because men take on the role of being the one who initiates intimacy, and to do that you need to be prepared for rejection and let your guard down. Women simply "wait" for the man to do the job, they are not on the receiving end of rejection most of the times.

But when they are, they are deeply hurt, self concious about why you exactly rejected them. The easiest way to cope with that is to simply blame the other one and give their self esteem a boost. "I didnt want to kiss you anyway" is a staple sentence in such a behaviour.

At the true heart of it, she is needy for someone to take care of her and kiss her. You could easy score a lay with her now if you play your cards right.

If you give her a hint of possibility of sex or intimacy with you but disqualify her on the other hand, she will have the instinct to "fight" for you. Her self esteem will get a very large boost from being able to turn your opinion around.
