My family is from New York and it is very easy to pick out what parts of their speech is different from the norm. My initial point was just a general point that anyone who thinks they have no accent is wrong, because there is no such thing as no accent. And as I stated earlier, I only think of "American" as the default in places where I can reasonably expect most of the people to be from where I am. 4chan is one of those places. You might be talking about other people, I'm sure they exist, but based on the people I have met, this is not the norm. Maybe you've had a shitty experience with Americans, or maybe you're just talking out of your ass because you hate Americans for whatever reason.

If I went to another forum that I frequent that I know is owned, run, and frequented by a vast majority of which are European, for example, I would not proceed under the assumption that my American experiences or views are the default to the audience of people that I am interacting with, and neither do any of the other Americans on there.
