Can we talk about the Fermi paradox? With the current state of the world I've been thinking more and more about consciousness. Perhaps "intelligent life" (as we termed and understand it), is incapable of surviving itself.

I'm a 40ish yr oldfag who's had my share of ups and downs throughout life just like everyone else. I'm looking at this from a strictly observational point of view.
Is it that evolution is capable of creating life that can merely survive in specific environments yet does not have the ability to fine tune consciousness into not creating divisions within itself and ultimately conflict?
tl;dr: does consciousness lack the necessary skill set to survive itself

honestly I just thinking the cosmic speed limit just isnt something that can be surpassed in any appreciable way,
even the theoretical Alcubierre drive would only go slightly above light speed
whatever intelligent life there is cant reach us,
two different starfaring civilizations meeting may be things that happen,
but only incredibly rarely, where intelligent life arises in two planets or star system within travel distance of each other.

>here intelligent life arises in two planets or star system within travel distance of each other.
So space is just too big then? Probability of
>life forming at all
>life surviving long enough to become intelligent and develop the tech
>x2 in close proximity
this is making sense.
