ok /b/ I'm going to Hawaii in April and I'm only 20 does anyone know how strict ID checks are there. like if I got a fake would it be easy to go to a bar and get a beer or would they be super strict about it?

Are you kidding? They see so many out-of-state IDs it'll be no problem.
I'm from Canada though. so will they just check the year or look at the day and everything?

Get an older friend to give you an ID, even if it's expired. Also, if they have an old library card, student ID or some other bullshit to back up who you are. Memorize the info on the ID. That's always better than a fabricated one. When I was underage the hardest thing was that the door-men knew me by a different name than the bartenders. :) But anyway, a lot of them don't give a shit as long as they have deniability. When I ran a bar, it didn't matter to me. If you had a fake, I had an excuse for the cops why I served you. Just be chill.

This reminded me of a story. I had an older friend's ID and used it to get into a tribal casino one time. This place was owned by Harrah's, and every player got a personal card to track their activity. You had to swipe it at the tables/machines, etc. I ended up giving it to the guy after I got home, and when he visited the reservation like a year later, he got all sorts of stuff comped because of my previous gambling. He was pleasantly surprised, and I laughed my ass off.

tried to get a friend to give me their ID for the trip but they said no. if I'm only a few months away from legal age will they really give a damn?

Depends on the bar. I'm sure there are plenty of places down there where you'll have success. Just don't come across as a nervous wreck.
Just as an aside, offer the friend money. In my area, a duplicate ID costs like 10 bucks. Offer them 100.

Lol nice guy

No doubt. They try to scare the shit out of you, but over-serving has nothing to do with serving underage.

He's talking about the class you have to take to serve alcohol. They stress that if you overserve and let people drive, you're just as liable for the people they kill. It's bullshit, but in fact some states will try to prosecute you if they can prove you knowingly over-served and allowed someone to drive.
thanks for all the help guys I'm still going to try and get a cheap fake and see if it'll work but this has been really helpful. I bless you all with the rarest of rare pepes.
