Uuh, well it's an adaptation of a memoir written by an inmate at a female prison, her story, experiences of those around her, etc. That said, the show isn't really based on true events at all, like any hugely successful series, the source material is not much like the finished product at all. I've always had nightmares and weird dreams. It's weird to discuss and kind of scary sometimes but a lot of my dreams actually end up becoming true, in some aspects, if not entirely. Neural networks are nothing more than an attempt to emulate biological behavior.

For instance, one can make a neural net for machine vision. Implemented into hardware and/or software, you can have a computer "see" an image and interpret it. Networks of these types are a little more theoretical. They work well enough, but rely on several assumptions and simplifications that they might not reflect biology.

My network, on the other other hand, is much more biologically realizable. Granted, some components are theorized to exist and there are some assumptions, but it is largely grounded in biology and follows observed dynamics and principles of such.

Essentially, I'm modeling a spinal CPG network. A CPG is just a network of neurons responsible for regular, periodic movement (breathing, swallowing, walking, etc). My CPGs are concerned with walking.

What we're trying to do with this network is model locomotion (walking) so that we can observe how spinal cord injury affects these networks from a plasticity standpoint. Plasticity is just a fancy term for the "learning" that occurs between neurons by the strengthening/weakening of the connections between each other.

Also, my network might also shed some insight into the developmental aspect of locomotion. But that is a secondary objective.
