On journalism : Imho the main problem is that media of all sorts are competing to get that sweet ad money (hence the clickbait pandemy for example). This is why subjects that require some complex documentation or a high level of understanding of the situation (like the political effects of the syrian war on migrations or middle eastern geopolitics, for example) are falling out of grace in the news, only to get replaced by some celebrity bullshit subject. This kind of content is easy to make for the media, easy to react to (for the public) and will more likely generate audience (and ad money)

This is only a personal opinion and is, of course, open to discussion.
