Can any car fags help me decide on a used car?
I'm looking for a long-lasting general commuter that can handle Michigan winters.
I'm looking at two cars right now:
Chevy Impala
2007
80,000 miles
3.9L v6 engine
233HP
FWD
$4800
or
Infiniti g35
2005
100,000 miles
3.5L v6 engine
280HP
AWD
$4000
Anyone have experience with either?
The Infiniti definitely wins in terms of raw specs, but I'm looking for a car that'll last as many years as possible.

Around my area, a G35 at that price has issues. Something like that is average $8k in the Seattle region.
Go for the 2007. It has less miles, probably better mileage (it's not a sporty car in comparison to the G35), and chances are there isn't something wrong with it. If the G35 has nothing wrong with it, it's a steal.
Buy a 4x4 Nissan pickup. Parts are cheap, truck is cheap, insurance is cheap, will last a long time. My 91 has 275K on factory engine, third clutch, and first transmission rebuild after heavy abuse for 230K.

It comes with a 1-year powertrain warranty.
And I'm going to have it inspected by a BellTire before I buy it.

Stealership or private seller?
My experience is from private seller, a lot less fees than dealerships. Anything you jew them down, they'll get back in fees.

It's from a dealership. I've never heard of a private seller offering any sort of warranty.
Look at cost of repairs dish the road. Infiniti is likely higher repair cost wrist. Also check to see if either had a timing chain or belt. At that mileage a belt will likely need to be changed soon and could cost a fortune (especially the infiniti). Just my two cents.
