Any relationship built on the back of a slave--even if it is "elevated" to an 'official' status--cannot come without both horrendous emotional risk and sacrifice.

In all honesty OP, I could not in good conscience recommend this plan of action. Given her treatment of you thus far, you may never find actual security in such a relationship due to both her apparent tendency to manipulate you and your perception of manipulation. An 'official' relationship with her does not suit her desires as they are now--after all, if they did, you would be treated as an equal in her eyes and the prospect would have been seriously discussed between you both.

My point of caution to you is that, say you do end up with her: how can you prevent future occurrences of a co-dependent mindset for someone with whom you now have nominally greater investment in than your current situation? How can you prevent your own tendencies--viewing the narrative of your relationship as "sacrificing" your own happiness for hers--in any serious capacity? What would you even do differently?

If you have a great plan for doing things "differently" to not be sucked into further emotional traps down the line, you are virtually guaranteed to have better results and a higher self-esteem by incorporating these changes into a different, healthier relationship with someone else entirely. "Never a good knife was made with bad steel", as the saying goes.

At the end of the day, none of us can tell you what to do, and for your own sake, you should take charge of your own life. Your life should have dignity and you should be able to act on your own desires in a way that is not abusive (really, self-destructive) to yourself.

As a result, I encourage you to look for fulfillment with another person and not with her.
