I just know simple/a mature programming with c++ java. That can easily be taken to actionscript or python if I wanted to start from scratch. He works with an artist and they both make a game on rpg maker. He post it on patreon and then makes it public after a while

Do you have to know that level of code or does RPG maker have short cut options to do basic actions that you can later modify? And would you recommend this for making cell phone games?

Friend of mine recommended Game Editor and another program a bit ago but I've been too busy to open it, yet. I need to sit down and focus. Always wanted to do make games.

Yes and no. While it does have alot of presets and tools to help you make a game, it takes a good amount of advanced knowledge to set up the scripts to work well. I think older versions are ruby based and the newest version is Javascript based. The new version does have an option to port games to a mobile phone on both ios and Android but even further knowledge of the software is needed. I would recomend using a free trial of flash and learning to make a game through there. If you need tutorials, youtube is a big help but make sure to learn how to use classes, and movieclips. Don't do what most people do and just code on the current frame, you really limit yourself
