I need some advice, /b/. I got caught stealing from work, but they don't know I know. If I quit before my next shift so they can't fire me, what's the likelihood of them pressing charges against me? It's a very large corporation.
>>
And it was around $500
>>
>>723008181
Don't show up to work and leave the country. Just pick up your paycheck the next day they call you.
>>
>>723008181
>shitting where you eat
fucking moron
>>
>>723008434
Leaving the country isn't really an option....
>>
>>723008181
Just bring it back and be nonchalant. "Hey boss, sorry I didn't run it by you first but I borrowed _______."
>>
>>723008181
unlikely, you'll get a ban from the place and the cops will sit down and have a chat with you.
>>
Does 500 count as a felony? Do large corporations normally press charges for that amount?
>>
>>723008181
Moar like this
http://streamboobs.com
>>
>>723008685
worked as a manager in a large coorporation, staff stole 1500, they just weren't allowed to come near our store anymore, both got fired etc.
>>
>>723008796
larceny is the felony and your on the border of petty theft. chill bro its fine. just dont steal shit and get fcaught
>>
>>723008796
You go to jail if you steal something that's worth 20 dollars or more at a store so I guess yea.
>>
>>723008181
What did you take? Money?
>>
>>723008898
What's the difference between petty theft and larceny? Amount wise
>>
>>723008926
I did refunds every now and then and just pocketed the money over time
>>
i have no advice, i just wanted to say i'm glad you got caught

i hope you get fired and become un-hireable
>>
Just give back what you stole, then buy a toothbrush to get the taste of the law's dick out of your mouth.
>>
>>723009276
Thanks. But I'm emailing a letter of resignation before my next shift.
>>
>>723008181
why did you steal, and how?
>>
>>723009483
See
>>723009111
Medical bills
>>
>>723009554
How do you refund a medical bill?

Also what state are you in?
>>
>>723010175
No, I refunded money on a pos, but the why is because I'm having to pay medical bills
>>
>>723010175
And it would fall under Missouri jurisdiction
>>
Bump for responses to likelihood of a large corporation pressing charges for employee theft of 500 dollars
>>
>>723011106
Small. Unless it's retail. They might care.
>>
>>723011106
Pretty likely.
>>
>>723011447
>>723011486
Poop
>>
>>723011106
Depends on the corporation. I'm sure you can google that shit fagoot
>>
>>723012097
How would I go about googling the likelihood of my company pressing charges? Thanks for the response
>>
>>723010258
How do they find out you did it? Do they know about all of the faradulent trabsactions for sure?
>>
>>723012310
Yes, corporate caught the pattern of refunds going through at the end of the shift with no customer there on camera
>>
>>723012210
Go to an anonymous message board and ask if petsmart presses charges for theft?
>>
>>723012427
How much camera do they save? Unless you were doing it every day they only have a few on camera and suspect many more they can't prove

>>
You'll go to jail for one night. It's $500 not $5k
>>

Ultimately, having a record will be the much bigger issue

>>723008181
Just don't fucking steal nigger
>>
>>723012900
>>723012981
That's why I'm curious about the likelihood of them actually pressing charges
>>
>>723012838
Obama care didn't help a single person. Get real faggot.
>>
>>723013088
A nigger would be assulting his boss right now, not on an Internet forum fretting about getting a petty theft charge
>>
>>723012712
Just one month. So they don't actually have proof of the full 500
>>
OP, the bigger the company the less they care about theft. Especially if it's employee shrink. They want to keep it quiet because anytime anybody gets away with something involving loss, it makes the company look stupid. Give the resignation, don't go in any more, and do not give them the opportunity to tell you about it. Tell them you are leaving town for a new job a few states away. HR isn't going to be able to term you for gross misconduct this way. And if you are no longer an employee, they will actually have to press charges to recoup. And the likelihood of this is very very low. They don't have time for that shit.
>>
>>723008271
Likely
>>
>>723013945
This is regarding petty theft. They care about theft but just not for a few refunds here and there.
>>
>>723008633
This is okay advice

wrong. Helped me.
faggot
>>
>>723013945
That's kinda what I thought. Thank you for the intelligent response. I just hope they don't decide to press charges. I now realize the cameras only store a month of footage, so it's way less than 500 now.
>>
>>723014677
Anytime. I would avoid putting the company on your resume if possible. They will still have you listed as not rehireable, which sucks. Not rehireable can get you a job though if you are willing to bend the truth. Gross misconduct is a death warrant.
>>
>>723009111

This is embezzlement.

Honestly, you're fucked. Hopefully they'll be nice though.
>>
>>723015261
That's why I'm applying to places now so I can say I still work there. Playing ignorant and whatnot
>>
>>723013130
Says the guy still on his parents plan.
>>
>>723016282
This guy is telling you what you want to hear, he is mostly right though.
It is a mistake to get complacent, its unlikely they will pursue charges.
If they do end up questioning you, you will need to run whatever sob story
/reason you had for stealing the money up to the maximum, even something so minor can fuck your whole future.
Also so minor that you will never see a jail cell for it, that's for the people caught on scene as a perp of petty theft or robbery, not for something that has happened and passed.
