What if there was civilisations just as advance, nearly as advanced or more advanced than we are hundreds of thousands of years ago, but them and all traces of them were wiped out by some catastrophic event, and years later the race was restarted? What if this happened multiple times and is bound to happen again? What if when civilisation gets to a certain level of technology and progress a self destructive event is bound to happen? For example nuclear war or nano technology or Rampant AI?

Well if you believe the Bible that humans came around 6000 years ago, then this theory could probably hold up, or if you believe in a crazy phantom timeline theory, otherwise there hasn't been enough time since things like the ice age and huge animals roaming the earth until now for their to be multiple long term civilisations.
>>
>>722766084
Shit OP. You might be onto something.
>>
>>722766084
Nobody knows why a civilization that had a headstart of several millennia hasn't shown up yet

What you said is one of the possible explanations, that the likelihood of civilizations destroying themselves is just too high for them to ever spread to the stars
>>
>>722766373
Why couldn't civilisation exist at the same time as these giant animals? And if you're referring to dinosaurs there is tens of millions of years between them and our civilisation, plenty of time for multiple civilisations to advance and fall.
>>
>>722766084
Are you saying the very same race would have ended up coming back? Like there were other human civilizations in the past?
>>
Yes and Yes. Extremely likely, unless you are religious
>>
>>722766084
Interesting, it is hard to believe we are the only civilised beings to ever inhabit the earth, since it has existed for billions of years.
>>
>>722767079
Yes, or similar, creatures evolve to fit there environment, so given 1-3 million years if there was 3 civilisations over that period they would be similar as the environment wont have changed much, just like animals from that time period are similar to the animals alive now.

>What if there was civilisations just as advance, nearly as advanced or more advanced than we are hundreds of thousands of years ago, but them and all traces of them were wiped out by some catastrophic event, and years later the race was restarted?
So you mean that it wasn't an extinction event, or that they were completely wiped out and then humans sprang up somehow? Even if that was true there's no compelling reason to conclude that ever happened.
>What if this happened multiple times and is bound to happen again?
So what?
>What if when civilisation gets to a certain level of technology and progress a self destructive event is bound to happen? For example nuclear war or nano technology or Rampant AI?
Then that means that Life is exceedingly hardy, and the technology is not. Or that at some point that line between life and tech is so blurred they're indistinguishable.

Read the first chapter of Roberts' History of the World. Very specific climate conditions allowed the trajectory of evolution to occur the way that it did. It is very unlikely that this would happen the exact same way that it did and that humans would get another "chance", if that's what you're saying. The only reason that mammals were able to rise is because of a giant rock hit the Earth and massively changed its ecosystems and the climate so they could rule. Without chance occurrences humans wouldn't be around. Without the ice ages of the last four million years humanity as we know it would be unrecognizable and possibly not even around. These events cannot be replicated and humanity probably can't either.
>>
>>722767518
The Dinosaurs and other creatures went through multiple extinction events and creatures from that time and their evolutionary ancestors still exist.
>>
>>722767721
What if it happened after the dinosaurs or in between now and the last 4 million years, considering it has taken us around 40,000 years to go from no civilisation at all to where we are now, its possible that it could have happened more than once in the 4 million years.
>>
>>722766084
Well there is no way they could've been wiped out in a way that leaves absolutely no evidence behind. The dinosaurs were at least 65000000 years ago and we still find evidence of them. If an advanced civilization before us existed we'd have evidence of cities or fossils or whatever. I realize you're probably just high on something but there is no way this is the case and you might be retarded.
>>
>>722768136
There has been plenty of lost civilisations, especially in South America and the Middle East. It depends on how the extinction event happens, if it was a civilisation more advanced than ours their could be methods of mass destruction we don't yet know about. Nanobots, Mass Nuclear Catastrophe, Massive Acid and chemical weapon attacks, Destruction as a result of programmable matter.
>>
>>722767748
Yes, and we have evidence for their existance. However there is zero evidence to support your retarded ramblings.

>>722767930
Again, there is zero evidence to support this. Saying 'what if' like this is a bit retarded because you could say 'what if' any idiotic thing you want. What if we all used to be flying purple hippos, for instance.

If there are remains of dinosaur bones from 200 million years ago, I think there'd be some clues of advanced civilizations from 200 thousand years ago. While there are many discoveries that suggest ancient civilizations were more advanced than we've given them credit for, there's nothing to suggest that they were any near our level.
>>
>>722768523
None of the things you said would leave no trace behind, though. We'd have evidence of mining, tool use etc if that were the case. If another civilization existed at any point between the dinosaurs and us there would be no way at all they would leave no evidence.

Also, the civilizations you mentioned are from not five minutes ago in the timeline of the solar system.
>>
If you're speaking of an entire race being wiped out and then restarted all within 100000 years, please read some basic principles of evolution.

If you're speaking of a massive civilization being wiped out but with enough survivors to restart civilization, then it's possibly but highly unlikely. There would be fossil records and some sort of record of intelligent and systematic manipulation of the Earth's strata, none of which have been found to indicate some sort of ancient 100000 dead civilization that had robots and shit.

Dude, I've been trying to tell OP this exact thing through the whole thread. He just won't have it because hes either extremely high or else incredibly dumb. Fucker probably believes in reptile aliens and hollow earth.
>>
>>722769055
Yeah no Hollow Earth is what his image is supposed to be related to, at least that's what Agartha is.
>>
>>722769146
>>722769055

Nice ad hominem
>>
>>722769307
Well, everyone has already explained the obvious flaws in his argument. All that is left is to conclude OP is high or stupid.
>>
>>722766084
According to an astrophysicaltheory, the universe expands, decreases in its size, forms a singularity until a big bang makes it expanding and so forth.

Maybe its a natural law that things restart at a certain point of their life time
>>
>>722769751
Jesus christ I don't even know where to start with that.
>>
I think you're trolling but on the off chance you're not what you're asking about is completely unsubstantiated. I don't really agree with the whole idea that if you can't prove it then it's not real, like a lot of pretentious atheist autists like to preach, but you shouldn't start asking questions you're obviously skewed toward believing in without any sort of foundation, which of there is none. Build your beliefs from the ground, don't not believe in something as being impossible without proof, but don't start tricking yourself into believing it's plausible just because the possibility exists.
>>
>>722769751
Considering the size of the universe there's really no need for a repeating big bang for a chance of a 1:1 copy of any given planet, civilization or even a individual living being.
