about to get a magnet Implantation into my finger.

any experience, suggestion,tipps,warnings?
>>
>>722737626
Yeah. Don't use that hand to swipe your credit/debit card anymore.
>>
why?
>>
How will border crossing work?
Also, have fun at MRIs
>>
>>722737805
This.
>>
>>722737806
ive got an rfid implant and havent had any issues
>>
>>722737626
Watch your hand when you on suck on your fat daddy's pierced dick from now on
>>
stupid fucking people what is with this fucking fad?
>>
>>722737871
I can see RFID implants having some interesting uses, but a magnet just seems kinda useless.
>>
Get another implanted in your shaft and jerk off, tell us how it is
>>
>>722737960
Yeah it's basically a parlor trick, and not even a very good one.

>hey uh... wanna see something cool?
>uh... yeah, sure
>ok cool do you have a paperclip?
>no...no I do not
>ok well... maybe a pin?
>no
>any metal?
>I've got some pennies
>yeah that won't work
>my wrist watch is metal
>too heavy
>oh shoot
>y-you know what? Just forget it...
>>
>>722737806
>>722737871

Yeah i wouldnt worry about that to much, just try to tell the doctor (if possible). Ive also once got an MRI with two bullets stuck in my Arm and he just shielded it with wet towels
>>
>>722737960
People who get magnets are usually electricians, and use it to find live wires through walls.
>>
>>722737986
/this
>>
>>722738292
If only there were tools which would do that with much greater accuracy.
>>
I have one, only problem I've run into is can't use that finger for rock climbing any more (pressure against the magnet gets very uncomfortable).

best thing about it imo: I can feel the magnetic fields coming off live AC wiring, helps avoid getting shocked. plus all the party tricks you can do.
>>
>>722737986
rolllllll
>>
>>722738363
There has to be a better way.
>>
>>722737986
do it
>>
make sure it doesn't get infected, you probably know ideal placement in the ring finger. Just don't crush it, it'll either be fucking shit or fucking sick.
>>
>>722738389
Thank u for some serious responding... du you think i still could go to the gym few weeks latter?
>>
it's like an extra sense

You can sense stuff like how magnetic something is, and even can actually feel when your stove is on etc

you can feel large electrical fields with it
>>
>>722737805
This.

Is this just to appear cool and edgy or something?
>>
>>722738209
While it is mostly a novelty body mod for most people, you don't get a magnet implant just to magnetize small objects.

>>722738363
You completely underestimate how convenient and accurate it is.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2cNmtO3YXw
>>
>>722738719
Wait for real? Is the procedure expensive? It actually sounds really neat.
>>
>>722737626
You'll never be able to fly on a plane or get through customs ever again.
Enjoy.
>>
>>722737626
Avoid touching metallic objects
>>
>>722739349
And you completely underestimate how quickly the real world would show any electrician who thought that was acceptable where the exit was.
>>
>>722737986
Well what he can do is get some magnetic surgical steel balls and stuff them in his uthera then pull them up and down his shaft.
>>
It needs to be coated in I think silicone, or your body will reject it and you get sepsis.

That being said, this is pretty much gaining a localized, extra sense. There's a constant, weak force acting on you from magnets and electric fields and you can feel them out pretty exactly.

You'll notice that relatively few have tried to get a magnetic ring first to try it out, which would do the same thing
>>
So who will implant it? Do doctors actually do this type of surgery?
>>
>>722737960
Your body will create a nerve cluster around it which will increase the sensitivity of the magnet. You can hold your hand over a computer and tell whether it's on or off with just your finger.
>>
>>722737626
Never have an MRI

what difference does it make how the electrician detects current or not?
>>
Generally avoid doing lame magic tricks with your new magnet-finger in public--keep that shit to yoself
>>
>>722740129
The difference is that between calibrated tools and and a bit of metal stuck under the skin.
>>
>>722739433
Metal detectors at airports/clubs do go off when I go through them, I'm not OP but:
I have pins and plates from a spiral fracture in my right radius (forearm).

until someone holds a neodymium magnet to your hand and there is suddenly a hole in your finger.
>>
You're literally giving yourself a sixth sense.

I implanted a tiny one in my right index finger in 2011 at home. It was simple and not /that/ painful. Getting my nipples done was worse. It felt cold when I got an MRI, like I was touching ice.

Sensing magnetic fields and current is debateable on usefulness but it's neat.

Gym should be fine after a couple weeks, just don't get it right under the pad of your finger if you lift. It's possible to break the magnet if you're putting lots of weight directly on it, getting it implanted off to the side is probably enough.

>>722739433

>>722740038
Wow. I normally have a two step process to check that.
1. Am i awake, if yes PC=on.
Or
2. Look to see if it has lights on it. If yes PC=on.
2b listen for it. If you can hear it, it's on.

That waving finger trick is totally worth all the inconvenience to avoid having to look or listen for it.

>>

no I think what happens is scar tissue encapsulates the magnet and kind of bonds it to the nerves nearby. the sensations from mine definitely got stronger after it healed.

You have muscles u dumbass.
>>
>>722750112
depends on the guy doing it. mine wasn't but I've heard of other dudes who use like novocaine or someshit, it's just a little dodgy since they're not exactly anaesthesiologists.

>>722750291
But if those muscles cant swing around 300 pounds than a bunch of implants in your fingers isn't going to help. Youd just get stuck to the bar.

>>722753382
what, so throwing a magnet under a few layers of skin somehow binds with neurons, allowing you to 'sense' fields? are you fucking kidding me. yeah, all you'll be able to do is point at the refrigerator and go, "yep, it's definitely made out of a metal that is either ferromagnetic or paramagnetic. yessir."

i hope it gets infected and falls off you twat
>>
>>722753613
magnets get attracted to each other. Therefore the magnet will apply a pressure on the inside of your finger, and you will be able to feel whether there is a magnetic field present. it's not difficult to understand.
>>
>>722753937
what good does that do anyone? what possible use could anyone have for that? you can do the same thing by holding a magnet. keep one in your pocket. now you can get an MRI.

it's amazing.
>>
>>722753239

Have you ever tried holding a neodymium magnet next to a microwave oven's transformer?

The large inductive coils produce a powerful magnetic field, and as the current is AC the direction of the field is constantly changing, and thus the force on the magnet is constantly changing. This vibrates the magnet. Human fingers are good at detecting vibration.

Therefore you can very noticeably detect magnetic fields induced by AC.

You can also feel constant fields because you can feel it being tugged by the field whilst it's inside your finger (obviously).

Sincerely,

An engineer
>>
>>722753613
the magnet oscillates in the presence of an alternating magnetic field, or exerts pressure in the presence of a static magnetic field. this causes it to move or vibrate within the tissue, and feels like a buzzing similar to your mom's rancid dildo when you steal it to explore your prostate.
>>
>>722748758
^yeah, but with a magnet it's fun
>>
>>722754092
holding a magnet would not be as precise, and MRI machines would not really put much strain on your fingers, seeing how small the magnet in your finger would be and the magnets used in an MRI machine are typically only like 40,000 gauss anyway.
>>
>>722752068
for fun
>>
>>722750033
it's more that scar tissue on the fingers, for example, is sometimes even painfully sensitive to touch because of the proximity of the nerve (endings?) to the surface.
>>
Everyone here is retarded. Go google lepht anonymn. She did hers herself and explains it pretty well.
>>
>>722737626
why in the shit would you do this?
>>
>>722754180
>>722754244
Its not just the tuggin vibration, it produces a tiny electrical charge that the nerves pick up. Cause nerves, electrical pulses and that stuff.
>>
>>722754180
you do realize that magnetic fields are a short range force, right? as in, you can only detect fields (whose thresholds are high enough to induce a discernable force to your finger) that are close enough, ie centimeters distance. And as an engineer, you actually condone shit like this? let me guess, civy? maybe meche? tell me again how well you can memorize things, it's cute.

>>722754341

I've had a magnet in my finger for a little over a year and a half now and haven't really had many complications.
I got mine implanted into the side of the tip of a ring finger so it doesn't affect most day to day avtivites and doesn't have any real risk of getting crushed unless you crush the finger itself.
Problem one: I'm an electrician and as useful as it is some devices (speakers and such for fire alarms) have strong magnets in them and can cause some discomfort if my finger gets too close.
Problem two: good luck swinging a baseball bat.
It's interesting to have an tends to throw people off if you tell them about it. It's pretty cool being able to feel electromagmetic waves like ones from a microwave, blender, or an electric stove that is on but not hot (you can hold your finger near it and feel the electricity).
Procedure took about 20 minutes and the only piece of advice i have is to keep your finger away from metal and magnets while healing as it hurts a ton to have the magnet pulling on the suture.

>>722754092
I've heard of people going into MRI machines with magnets before and haven't had issues. Obviously it's best not to risk anything and tell the operator beforehand to shield it. However the magnets aren't strong at all, they can barely hold a bottle cap and only if you move it very slowly so it doesn't fall off.
>>
>>722755036
I haven't heard about an electrical charge before, is there any research on that? Subdermal magnets are usually encapsulated in silicone, I would have expected that to be an insulator
>>
>>722750112
Depends. I've only heard of body modification shops doing the procedure and legally they can't use any sort of numbing agent since they aren't doctors, but some do anyway. It's the same way for most heavy modifications like tongue splitting, scarification, and any sort of scalpel work where the person might move around they'll just inject some stuff to make it easier to do.

>>
>>722755133
those are large steel objects mane, a little magnet would not be able to apply sufficient force to do anything of interest to you. also the amount of power needed to affect the magnet is increased exponentially. so due to the size of the magnet and distance to MRI means it will only be a like someone is poking you with a blunt pencil.

WOW that is SEVERE incompetence. They make special oxygen tanks for use around MRI's. The hospital showed extreme neglect and incompetence and I seriously hope they go bankrupt from the settlement.

This avoidable death is extremely tragic and boy would I be fucking pissed if I was the parent or relative.

I'm not him, but, even fragmented bullet fragments or a tiny pellet is enough to keep you out of the machine. You might be ok, or it might just tear through some of your tissues.
>>
>>722756619
you would need to have been shot by a steel core bullet for you to be kept out of the machine, due to the others not being affected by magnetic fields.
