I also just recently started on prozac 20mg about 3 weeks ago for generalized anxiety disorder. It helps. My sex drive is fine although my appetite may have decreased a bit. However, prozac is also prescribed for premature ejaculation and for somebody without that problem, I cannot bust a nut for shit. Still like porn though.

Prozacfag here. 40mg daily.

Sex: Definitely an effect on me. Much harder to climax while on the pill. My refractory period is also increased. I can only really have one orgasm a day. Get two in one day, then I need to take a couple days to recuperate. Spontaneous boners are definitely less often. As far as actual sex drive goes, I'd say it's also slightly decreased. I've always been a horndog though, so I'm probably only at an average sex drive now.

Appetite: doesn't really have an effect on that for me. I remember when I first started taking the pills that I would be a little nauseous, but that only happened in the first few doses.

You are correct that the benefits of SSRIs take a while to kick in. However, you can suffer the side effects almost immediately. I was nauseous and unable to climax for the first week or so. Thought the medicine sucked. After a while the negatives subsided and I started to feel random moments of "Hey, life's not so bad."

Yeah OP, I'm taking 20 mg of Celexa. The first couple of weeks I actually experienced a huge increase in sex drive, but after being on it for a couple of months the though of masturbating makes me sick. SSRI's are known to be libido killers. As for the appetite, it can go either way. Some people see an increase, some people a decrease. The sexual side effects will most likely stick around, but your appetite should come back at some point

The reason risk of suicide can increase in the beginning of treatment is because you go from depressed and apathetic to depressed and full of energy. The anti depressant effect doesn't come until 3-4 weeks of taking it.

SSRI are fucking trap. Tried Lexapro and had bad fucking side effects so i discontinued and after just being 2 days on this shit i had about month withdrawals worst fucking days of my life. If doctor told me withdrawal is so fucking bad id never took it.
