About a week ago I got fired from my job of 4 years. I am tired of unemployment. What jobs accept felons? What jobs do you work? I have spent the last 6 years working restaurants and I am tired of that shit. Thinking either retail or factory work. Thanks for any input.

Tow truck driver bro
>>
>>722703773
Do I have to have any previous experience driving trucks?
>>
>>722703674
What did you do to go to prison
>>
>>722703813
No, you don't even need a CDL
>>
You could try some online jobs like transcriptions or content mills. But you better have a good english education or know basic spelling and grammar. Most sites hire without experience but they make you write a sample of writing to test your english spelling and grammar.

I work for 2 content mill sites. I make roughly $20 an hour if i write at a decent pace.
>>
If you don't mind it, factory work can pay very well if you are there for a few years.

my cousin worked at an Amazon warehouse in south florida, he said they hired anybody
>>
>>722703819
Didn't go to prison. Sentencing next week, I am getting convicted. I have about a 50/50 chance to either get probation or get locked up. Caught with acid, felony of the fifth degree.

>>722704046
I do pretty well with spelling and grammar. I don't have the tism, and am actually very careful about the way I type things. It is always good to show an employer you have at least half a brain.
>>
>>722703674
4 years? Employers are going to like that you hold down a job with some committment, so you have that going for you.
>>
Bump. Appreciate the comments. What has been your experience working the jobs you work, anons?

I don't mind if a job is mostly shit. It wouldn't be called work if it was fun.
>>
>>722703674
Foundries, job shops, machine shops, construction.
Good luck, Anon.
>>
>>722705352
Thank you. Yeah getting fired sucks ass. I worked at Jimmy Johns as a delivery driver for 4 years and they fired me for taking a bag of chips.. it was retarded.
>>
I'm felon too, got my job by sending in a resume, they never did a background check and never had me fill out an application. They don't know I'm a sex offender.
>>
>>722705521
That is retarded. I eat so much shit at work. I work at Penn Station(the sandwich place)
>>
>>722705621
The new manager was "making an examale out of me" so whatever. I am over food service.

>>722705565
Oh wow. Well I am not a sex offender, just a drug one. Lol
>>
>>722703674
as someone who has worked retail before i'd rather stay unemployed than do that shit again. i've done sales, customer service, etc. if you have to work retail try to do stocking or unloading trucks. it's more active and you're far less likely to have to interact with the public (which is a nuisance at best and downright insulting and infuriating at worst).

i've been looking for some sort of factory work lately. anything that lets me use my hands and sort of turn off my brain for a shift is all right by me.
>>
>>722705521
Your welcome, Friend. A lot of these places will show you everything you need to know. I'll be ten years at my current employer. They showed me everything and then some.
>>
>>722706249
That's what I was gonna go for. I put up with my fair share of idiots and asshole in 6 years of food service. I am always up all night anyways so I was thinking overnight stocking or even a warehouse position.
>>
>>722706906
Good luck with it. Target is a good place since they have overnight stocking/cleaning jobs while the stores are closed. Also, if you don't mind it being a restaurant and if you live near one Cracker Barrel has an overnight cleaning position. I did it once for a few months. It wasn't too bad, boring most of the time but enough to do to stay busy.
>>
>>722707027
I just want a job where I can shut up and work quietly by myself.
>>
>>722704307
>get caught with happy drugs
>everyone treats you like you just murdered 15 people with a spiked club
>>
>>722707173
I know the feeling. I'm currently unemployed but stay busy doing yard work and odd jobs for family and elderly people I know. The best job recently was mowing this guy's lawn, edging, fixing his gutters, and trimming his hedges. It took about six hours and I just listened to music and felt great the whole time. I hate when a boss rides me, but if you just give me a task and leave me alone I'm as happy and productive as can be.
>>
>>722707202
Well I got put on a treatment in lieu of conviction for 3 years, if I made it through I would have no criminal record. Fucked it up after 2 years for risking smoking weed like an idiot. Now they are taking me off and convicting me this upcoming Tuesday and my lawyer says they could either send me to jail/prison/rehab facility (rehab jail) or put me on regular probation.

Either way it would be nice to have a job in the event I get to stay out of the pen.
>>
>>722707351
Even better would be a job where I could keep to myself with headphones on, listening to music. I would be happy to do that job.
>>
>>722707538
Drop the drugs and live a happier life anon. Find a more constructive activity to become addicted to, like working out or traveling.
>>
>>722707714
I have been clean and sober, attending AA and NA meetings since January 5. Feels good man, it isn't that hard to be sober once you get used to it. I crave a drink every now and then.

warmer weather in spring starts construction season, fill a backpack with lunch juice coffee, socks workboots, dustmasks,a 25 ft tape measure, visit worksites, present the boss with a one pager of your work history interests, tell him you have been in legal shit, tell him the truth, betw then & now stay off dope, eat right,,casual labor may turn into permanent work, learn to walk quick work quick careful follow instructions, this kind of stuff can buy you food pay a couple bills, while you intern as a laborer.
check the state job office both online and in person employers sometimes visit them needing 30 guys like ASAP I did this years ago,all at various times when I was a young whippersnapper, the const stuff got me in shape out & away from air conditioning damn cold ass vent breezes office work rather shoot myself than go back to office work
>>
>>722707942
Yeah man, thanks for the tips. I have always wanted to work a job that would be as good of exercise as it is pay.
>>
>>722707942
This /b/rofaganon gets it, O'Pee. I am a Field Superintendent for a construction company. Go to Labor Ready(or People Ready as it's called now) and request to do construction work. Once you are on site, make goddamn sure you are doing what I need you to do. The tasks are usually going to involve moving things around. If you find that you have run out of things to do, start cleaning up the job site. Come to me and ask what needs doing. Ask the contractors if they need help with anything. Get over this thing where you think just being left alone is some kind of benefit to you- it isn't. Get involved with the skilled workers around you, and before you know it, you will start picking up skills. Just don't ask too many questions that you become a distraction to the skilled guys. Just be there for them and soon enough you will be one of them. If you get a phone call while working, try and make sure that I see you defer the call- this says that you prioritize WORK. This sends a very strong message to me, and trust me, I WILL NOTICE THIS. I'm assuming you are white since you were caught with LSD, so you will have a leg up on the black dudes that I usually get. I wish it wasn't this way, but the black laborers(with a very few excellent exceptions-call out to my homey Albert in Lafaeyette, LA) demonstrate repeatedly that they don't fully get the concept of work. I hope this post changes your life OP.
>>
Jobs at sea. Most sailirs/fisherman don't give a about your post crimes. I was in prison a while back then took up sailing. Am now skipper of a 70 foot wooden ship. Live on her also. Good money.
>>
If you live in a larger city you can be a mobile/seat vendor at concerts, sporting events, horse races etc. Look on Craigslist for vendor ads or do a few google searches to try to get linked up. Venues hire companies to take care of mobile vending for events. The companies basically hire anyone to go out and sell for them. Tax free, no background check, no strings attached. If you can't find and ads online, you can try your luck and go down to the venue a few hours before the event starts. Look around for guys in bright yellow/green/orange shirts who look like they would sell you overpriced beer and hotdogs. A lotta hawkers are scumbags and won't link you up but some are cool and will help you. I started doing this about a year and a half ago after I got laid off. It isn't regular work but if you do get some work, you can usually make decent money if you hustle. I've had some bad nights at events where I make $40 and others where I make a few hundred per night. Good luck
>>
Bartending is easy and fun. I make $800-$1000 a week. And getting laid is really fucking easy
>>
>>722703674

Calling bullshit. I've never worked in a restaurant that didn't have at least one felon on staff.

So many drugs in that kitchen too, we were all felons technically.

You had to have fucked up somehow to get fired. Probably showed up too high and didn't wait till after service.
>>

I work security, im a felon with a first degree trespassing charge.

Most employers are understanding so long as you do wel on your interview and describe whats going to show up on your back ground check AFTER youve impressed them and they want to hire you. Dont just open with im a felon kek
>>
>>722705521
So, you getting fired was nothing to do with your upcoming conviction for possession of Class A drugs (hardly a ringing endorsement) but you actually got fired for stealing from your employer of four years. Do I have that about right?

You're fucked, you deserve to be fucked.

What you do in your private life aka drugs you could argue is nothing to do with your employer (although it does go towards attitude to regulations, etc) but breaking their trust by stealing from them shows you may do exactly the same to your next employer. Why the fuck should anyone ever trust you again?

Dubs wasted on a dude with lodged in his asshole.
>>
>>722714688
And you're trying to justify "Oh, it was only a little crime".

So one bag of chips is OK. How about two?. What about a box? Or some chocolate. Or a box of chocolate bars? Or how about a bottle of alcohol? Or a case of alcohol? Why not a whole van-load? They won't miss just the one.

Can you tell me which crime is acceptable? The mere fact you try to minimise and rationalise your crime shows you have no moral compass - which is exactly what any potential employer would see.
>>
>>722714071
Tresspassing charge and they let you do security? That is weird. Good on you, tho, assuming you aren't robbing them kek
>>
>>722714948
Bruh I paid for it after. I was hungry. I hadn't done anything like that before. So I should never have a job again because oF a tiny breach of trust? Dude seriously wtf.
>>
>>722714948
Nice slippery slope argument

Next you'll be saying that legalizing gay marriage will lead to legalized pedophilia. Do you not see the fallacy of your logic?
>>
>>722715060
>I was hungry
But you have a job, so you have money. And a little hunger won't kill you.

>So I should never have a job again because oF a tiny breach of trust?
Why should anyone trust you. I'm not saying you shouldn't work, but I wouldn't want you anywhere near anything of even minor value your light-fingered ass might steal. So perhaps sweeping the streets. Painting public buildings (turn in brushes at the end of the shift)? Filling in potholes? Something socially useful.

And don't forget, as well as a thief you're a drug user.
>>
>>722715316
>Next you'll be saying that legalizing gay marriage will lead to legalized pedophilia
No connection between gays and pedophiles. Strong correlation between the first small act of larceny and larger and larger crimes until stopped. Do you think that an armed bank robber went from zero to armed crime in a single step? No, it starts with small theft, and the scale and frequency criminality increases as confidence in the ability to get away with it grows.

Good attempt at a strawman, though. Almost worthy of an alt-right fake news claim.
>>
>>722715343
Did you read the part where I have been clean and attending AA for nearly two months?

Your logic sucks. I have no intention of stealing from anyone else. Did someone steal something from you when you were a kid and now you just can't stand theft?
>>
>>722715529
>took a bag of chips
>eventually potential bank robber

Kk. Also, I would say my confidence in getting away with it would be skewed by, you know, not getting away with it. What is the weather like on top of that high horse?
>>
>>722715566
>I have no intention of stealing from anyone else.
Really? So you intended to steal from your last employer?
Did someone steal something from you when you were a kid?
No. But I have been burgled twice as an adult. I'll bet those cunts started with a bag of chips too
>Now you just can't stand theft?
Yes. Exactly. Taking something that isn't yours. The sense of entitlement, that the laws and norms of society don't apply to you; that you're somehow exempt and above them
>>
>>722715747
Keep on sucking that authoritaran cock buddy. ;)
>>
>>722715664
>What is the weather like on top of that high horse?
It's pretty good. Especially knowing that I bought the horse, and the saddle. Just a shame I have to lock up the horse and the tack at night because of thieves, some of whom are stealing to feed their drug habits
>>
>>722715747
I was there for 4 fucking years. Helping that company make money. Yes, I expected at least a little fucking leeway.
>>
>>722715879

>>
>>722715932
>I was there for 4 fucking years. Helping that company make money
They paid you. They expected trust. You broke it.
>Yes, I expected at least a little fucking leeway.
Oh, the sense of entitlement in that sentence. Why? They gave you a job, they paid you and probably provided other benefits, and you repaid them by stealing from them. What leeway were you entitled to, exactly?
>>

You'll wait a long time - I'm not American

Were you also the guy that said
>Well I got put on a treatment in lieu of conviction for 3 years, if I made it through I would have no criminal record. Fucked it up after 2 years for risking smoking weed like an idiot
If yes (and it's difficult to be sure in an anonymous thread) your track record of being clean isn't exactly stellar, is it?
>>
>>722717382
Just don't be a criminal; that's all.

But you just have to post a list denigrating that attitude, as though it's a bad thing not to commit crime. Strange attitude anon - unless you're a felon?
>>
>>722717514
Oh no man, I smoked pot after 2 years with no incident. Sooooo bad. Lol gtfo of here bro.
>>722717422
Yes. They were BBQ.
>>
>>722717617
I am not ridiculing the idea of not being a criminal. I am getting on this guy for being so high and mighty and pretentious about his attitude. He says it from a position of such smug self-righteousness.
>>
>>722717634
>Fucked it up after 2 years for risking smoking weed like an idiot
Just goes to show you have no impulse control. In your words - you fuked it up. And in your words you took some chips and fucked up again.

There's a pattern emerging. You're even joking about how good the chips tasted (BBQ) when you were whining about how stealing them got you fired.

Your attitude sucks and you have no concept of actions having consequences. No one forced you to have acid, no-one forced you to fuck up and smoke (even though you knew the potential outcome) no-one forced you to steal. You'll be please to know I'm out.
>>
>>722717865

get s job at local foodmarket (freds or safeway) night stolking.. dot have to worry about shit, either that or janitorial. I'm a seasoned janitor but haven't got a job. they always get bought the fuck out. pisses me off. usually like 11-12$ an hour too. gl
>>
>>722717786
Ah, so the facts don't matter, it's the attitude that counts?

What if I told you I don't like thieves either, as some scumbag stole from my elderly mother, who happens to have Alzheimer's?
>>
>>722717954
I doubt it
>>
>>722717989
I hate the phrase "it's the principle of it" if that tells you anything.

I measure based on the severity of it. $1.50 bag of chips is super forgivable especially after 4 years of no problems. But okay. Agree to disagree.
>>
>>722718075
>I hate the phrase "it's the principle of it" if that tells you anything.
Only one problem, I don't think he used that, as the only other use of "principle" ITT is this post
>>722714688
which sure wasn't him
>>
>>722718075
But anon, not to steal is a principle. All you're then arguing over is scale.
>>
>>722718243
But that is the idea that he runs on, is it not? That is clearly his philosophy. It doesn't matter how small it is, it just matters that it was theft. That's his point. Aka "it is the principle of it." I am just neatly putting his argument into a common expression.
>>
>>722703674
for retail try loss prevention/ asset protection. big companies love ex criminals to catch criminals trying to steal their shit.
>>
>>722718357
This anon has a point though
>>722718294
where does acceptable (or maybe tolerable? understandable? forgiveable?) theft become unacceptable theft|?
