get a "file shredder" program, there are lots of them out there. There are a bunch of features out there, but the one you want is a "scrub unused space" feature. This overwrites all of the unused space on your drive with junk data, overwriting all of the stuff you "deleted" that is still lurking on your hard drive. I personally use File Shredder, but there are plenty of programs out there you can use.
