I kept a dream journal for a little while, but stopped when it started getting too weird. Here's an Ambien-fueled one I had a few weeks ago.

Ok.
This happened a while back, so it's a little fuzzy, but memorable dream.

At home with family and friends, some sort of party. Good food , drinks. Pres Obama and his family show up. Hanging out, acting completely normal. Obama on the grill making steaks. Gets late, in the house with all the kids. Seems I'm the only adult left. Realise were being attacked. Get all the kids in the bathroom, try to make them all fit in the tub. I lock the door and go in the hallway. Hallway had like slat wall so I can kinda see into living room. Team of guys in full gear break in, I break off a piece of wood from the slat wall as a weapon. Wait for one of them to round the corner. Try to stab him in the neck. Catches my arm so I can't, slowly plunges it into my own neck.
I woke up at that point.

The dream was a party of sorts I think but a part struck me clear. It was Ashlyn with long sleek hair and her notable jacket. We were in bed together, we talked and progressively came closer. It was that part of the dream that I felt comfortably warm and worry free. It was a airport type theme we were in. There we rows of beds and for some reason I believe "she" was in the other alone and the words “why won't you cuddle with me?” echo on my head. She left because of plane's coming in(?). In the dreams I remember I'm usually the subject of some twisted horror or torture scene. Some of the concepts are downright silly where others are more serious.

One of the silly ones: I was a contestant on a gameshow where the goal was to be the last survivor in a house where an invisible monster was killing everyone. I did not win.

Lucid dreaming sounds interesting. The most frightful I ever am is when I'm stuck in sleep paralysis. My half awake mind perceives any bad thoughts (usually due to not being able to move) to be real scares. I remember on the most recent night I tried my hardest to shout at the top of my lungs for help, but only a whisper erupted with my best efforts. The whispering actually had me more freaked out because I thought that 'whoever was watching me' had heard that I was trying to get help. There followed an indescribable fear that I felt really deeply, like if it was latched onto my bones. I really have nothing to compare it to. I know I sound like a bitch getting frightened by sleeping but there's really no other feeling

Not the guy you're chatting with, but I've broken out two different ways: One was holding my breath (which I've used successfully man times over the years) and once I used a bit of a Kill Bill, "Wiggle your big toe," kind of method. I was able to force myself to move a finger (barely, and I really struggled to do it), then quite quickly I got control of more fingers, then my hand, my arm, yadda yadda.
Honestly though just hold your breath. That other one was such a pain and I only got it to work once.

Sleep paralysis to me is a feeling of extreme laziness, a kind of laziness that makes me "want" to stay absolutely still, It's just so easy for me to make myself move in that state, I only need to be barely motivated to do it.
I've seen various "scary" things before (sometimes they seem really silly after the fact like one time I just saw the picture of a dinosaur, it wasn't even a carnivorous one) but the immense motivation to move these give me wakes me up so quickly i'm only sure of a couple of them being sleep paralysis.

Lucky you. Without my bag of tricks I will try like all fuck and won't be able to move. It used to suck when I wasn't used to paralysis. Best case scenario I was very frustrated, worst case I was terrified. But those days are long gone now though.

I don't remember this dream in great detail but I'll try to tell what I remember. A part of this dream involved me playing a video game that was sort of based on Final Fantasy, I don't know if you've ever played that. Anyway the level I was playing I had to cross over some water and interact with a chest I think over and over again, and I had to wait out a sea monster in order to cross the water, otherwise it would attack me. After a while I stopped playing the video game and I noticed that the front window in my house was open and there were people outside, two men and a woman, and I heard the woman say that she was on acid. I closed the window, but one of the guys opened it from the outside and the three of them climbed into my house. I told them they had to leave and one of the men pulled out a gun and said they were going to rob me and that they were holding me hostage. He broke some of my fingers and held me at gunpoint. Then they decided that they were going to throw a party in my house and invited a lot of their friends over. They also brought a lot of food and were very friendly to me while the party was going on, so much so that I forgot I was being held there against my will and I just started enjoying the party. At one point I talked to a girl that I had apparently matched with on tinder and I don't remember the content of the conversation but it was a positive one. Eventually I said that the party had to end and that they had to leave, but the guy who had originally threatened me took a long claw out of his pocket (like a tiger claw or something like that) and stabbed me in the cheek. He hooked it into my skin and dragged me by it outside. I remember talking to him outside and he was listening to very loud music and dancing but I don't remember what we talked about. That's all I can remember from this dream.

I keep having dreams random ones but my ex girlfriend keeps showing up in them. Some times she's the subject some times she kinda like the extra in a movie

Im then led outside, by unknown person.
I grab a beer for the cooler, head back inside.
All but one person have disappeared.
A girl, i ask where everyone has gone.
She points ant the open counter.
She says i opened it.
I freak, run down to the barn
To start up a motorcycle drive it out pf the stall.
Forgetting my boots i run back to the house.
In the house i start grabing food,
And other essentials for living on the run
Back outside im greeted by two ppl in a pickup
I approach the pickup unseen at this point
I overhear one of the men say
"Been so many years id doubt he'd recognise me"
I wake up..
