It's really tough to explain. It's just like a series of feelings and meanings attached to them. Imagine stuttering but knowing what you meant, and it's like that I guess. There's no words involved, but thoughts and ideas don't really need those to work, only to be conveyed to others.

I don't think so... I still have us humans' best sense, so I don't think I'm enough of a pity party for god to give me superpowers.

>>722295773
Actually all my teachers were really cool about it. They hand wrote anything I couldn't pick up on my own so I didn't have to be taken out of a normal environment. It took me about 3 months to generally know what people were talking about, but I still learn new things now. Once you know the alphabet and 'Can you spell that?' the possibilities are endless.
>>722295787

Can you speak or it affected your voice or have you forgot how words sounds like?
>>
>>722296028
>>722296223

You never watch movies or whatever with your gf and forget to turn the sound off later when it's fapping time? Thought that would be a real world problem and not just a throwaway scene in my screenplay that I think about writing sometimes when I'm drunk.
>>
How in the world you can speak to us when you're deaf?
>>
>>722294198
i knew some deaf people back in the day.

I always wondered, are you aware that you make weird noises when your signing and if so, do you feel self consious about it?

Also, how do you think? do you imagine text, signing or some sort of noisy representation of english? like, when i think, i imagine my voice talking, well i think, especially when typing, its definitly a voice, whats it like for you?
>>
>>722296223
are you good at maths and shit like that?
I always get distracted with thoughts so I suck, would imagine you can concentrate really easily when you want to
>>
>>722296361
I've forgotten what words sound like. I can still do a pretty good 'HEY' and my friends help me with words we find funny. Fuck, ass, fag, etc. They're generally curses. I know it's gay, but I'm trying to learn 'I love you' to be prepared for if I want to propose.
>>722296421
Do you jack off with your TV? I use my computer, which we don't watch movies on... I think it's a great scene, though. I'm sure it could absolutely happen to me given the right circumstances.
>>722296456
Magic, dude.
>>722296534
From what I'm told I'm pretty good about not doing it. I focus very heavily on my airflow most of the time because I'm a naturally self conscious guy.
I've answered the last question a few times here already, it's just not easy to explain. There's no voice, but there's ideas. I just have them in an order and understand what they mean, no words allowed. Sometimes when I get high I have to 'remind' myself of what I mean by thinking of the sign for it.
>>722296674
Thoughts are still there, but I've always been pretty good with numbers. I don't think the two have anything to do with eachother, though.
>>
>>722296723
My tv is also hooked up to my computer, so yeah. Maybe I was projecting a bit. Still making it in to the screenplay though.
>>
>>722296723
So you lost your hearing at 15, and as you've said sound is just completely foreign to you now.

yeah man, so true, i have to say you come across pretty literate, I dont mean that as an insult at all, from my experience around deaf people, i noticed that they seemed to shorthand a lot when communicating, i presumed that signing is slow compared to talking, but their shorthanding transferred into their writing, sometimes it would seem so illiterate, but it made sense, almost like they were just using the most important words. I dunno though, they never really were on the internet much, where you have to make an effort or get shit fom strangers being a retard, so maybe they didnt care too much.

I like to write, so I make a huge effort. I write articles for the local paper and I'm working on a novel, but I don't think it's anywhere near good enough. Being an author is pretty much the only childhood dream I can feasibly do. Not to mention, most of my relationships at least begin through texting or handwriting messages. When the only sounds you can make are 'OOGA BOOGA' you better be able to type pretty well or you're going to be a dry dick danny all your life.

I don't think there was lasting damage to my actual intelligence, it was just the sensory parts that got messed up. I think my feeling has become worse too, but that's harder to gauge then hearing is. I know I felt numb a lot for the first few weeks.
>>722298829

I definitely don't anymore, I don't think that I did when I was younger and new to it either. In fact I remember dropping a hammer on the ground to see if I would flinch and I didn't, but that was a solid 2-3 years in.
>>722299099
Context clues help a lot. Also most onomatopoeias can be translated to just 'a loud ass noise happened and since you're deaf now, it doesn't matter which one.' If they all changed, I wouldn't notice in the slightest.
>>722299119
Yes, and no it hasn't. It was a kickass time, though.
>>722299186
I was legally in a coma, but it was for 4 days, so I didn't come out to find out monkeys had taken over the earth and blah blah blah. It was just like a long sleep followed by a killer hangover that didn't go away for months.

What happened was my parents got in a fight, my dad was drunk, and he tried to take me away from her. I don't know if he was intentionally trying to kill us or if he was just not thinking straight and wanted to start a life with me, but without her, but he did crash and die and I have a hard time feeling bad for him.

He veered off a bridge that was about 10 feet off the ground, nothing out of an action movie, but we landed top down and that's a bad way to land.
