No, just someone who actually read a book. Russia was part of the Soviet Union, but the Soviet Union was comprised of more than Russia.
>>
>>722183877
I'm not even American but have to correct this. That aircraft was built in the Soviet Union, which failed to build a second because it collapsed. It is no longer a country at all. That said, the largest aircraft currently in production (i think) is the A380, which is assembled in France from sections manufactured across western Europe. So you could have made this post correctly with the same point.

But they can only afford to build one. Let's talk about Russia's aircraft carrier fleet. Oh wait they only have 1 of those too. And it's diesel powered. And it can only hold 30 planes, and those planes constantly crash

The US has 10 nuclear powered super carriers that can hold 70 planes, and its building 10 more.

weekly into the format the Antonov requires? How about you Russians essentially would have to scrap them because you can't have spare parts for Any price?

Crimea was traded for {something}, guess what it was? Something we had and something you had the stuff to make them work... you know like custom titanium keys and 48digit codes.

The "Russian" Antonov fly at the whim of Ukrainian replacement parts and a weekly update of the encrypted ephemeris data of satellite orbits. Without those the 225 is flying using VFR or beacons. Over the ocean, its blind and they would have to use GC azimuth adjustments, airspeed-estimated velocity vector to calculate position, etc.

It goes on and on.

Antonov is no more Russian than an Airbus.

Just wait until Russia's PAK-FA fighter comes into production soon, it will give the f35 a run for its money.

chief Lt. Gen. Dave Deptula told The National Interest that “the analysis that I have seen on the PAK-FA indicates a pretty sophisticated design that is at least equal to, and some have said even superior to U.S. fifth-generation aircraft.”

He added: “It certainly has greater agility with its combination of thrust vectoring, all moving tail surfaces, and excellent aerodynamic design, than does the F-35.”

>Just wait until Russia's PAK-FA fighter comes into production soon

too bad it's not though. They needed India to help support the production, and India pulled out do to all the issues with development. If it does get built, russia will probably only be able to afford to build 20-30 of them, and they'll all be stationed around Moscow for defense.

The PAK FA has been in development for as long as the F-35, and russia still only has about 5 prototypes. The US has already built over 200 F-35s, and they plan to build 1000 more, not to mention all the US allies getting them. for all the problems the F-35 has, at least it's actually being built.

True. But since the 225 has to be fed the ephemeris (data describing the current orbits of the navigation beacon sattelites) in an encrypted form and the Ukranians have to do it for them, they could withhold it and cause problems for overseas flights where radio beacons fade beyond the horizon. The reason for the encryption is to prevent them from being Stolen and used by someone else. Kind of stupid considering how big they are... or really smart. Once the data gets stale, it's useful enough, but after a month or longer it's useless. The satnav becomes as useful as someone giving you wrong directions. Of course a compas works, and internal guidance estimates of heading and speed gives you a lot, especially over land where radio beacons do most of your work for you.

What happens when you fly a great distance over saltwater and you want to land or approach someplace with a beacon unpowered, destroyed, or non existent? You use internal guidance corrected by sattelite fixes. If your ephemeris is stale or ancient it's pointless to look at it.

Decade old technology. What technology does russian military have that's less than three decades old?
>>
>>722183877
Biggest nuke is too.

Biggest a lot of shit. Lucky for us it'll take Russia decades to repair the incredible damage the last 300 years have wrought upon them economically and socially.

Unless they continue to get chummy with China. Then we're all in deep shit.

Carriers are outdated.
All this 1900s conventional warfare junk is obsolete.

Solid icebreaker, 4x GE nuclear pile with enough fuel pellets to run 80
years. Can provide electric power to a city if needed. Wing
Pod Decks allow Osprey and helicopter landing simultaneous with fixed wing aircraft on main deck, and Marine launch vehicles to mobilize thru the "doggy doors" down to water level. It has a robotic warehouse as a refrigerator.

Metal storm protection from allhuakbars.

Gerald R. Ford class carrier

Turns out they do have a use- force projection in wars against third world outfits like Afghanistan, Iraq, Kosovo, etc. But yes, they are not very useful now for great-power warfare, there are too many ways to easily kill them by moderately sophisticated militaries.

That said, China now has a carrier.

daily reminder that americans actually destroyed the concorde to get on top of the business
>>
>>722193181
concorde was a stupid idea. america investigated the idea of making a super sonic jetliner, but found that it was impractical

>fuel guzzlers
>sonic boom pollution
>maintenance cost way too high to ever be profitable
>very susceptible to debris on runways
>>
>>722183877
You only have two of them and their unreliable pieces of shit.

I work on C5s.
>>
>>722193181
You eurotrash get so butthurt over the concorde.. its sad. Its impractical, nice plane though.

the USA had to lower the average cock size by an inch because so many of them are under 6" it made them all butthurt.
>>
>>722190249
Well when we said "we are going to put a man on the moon", that's what we focused on. Plus, their animal died, ours lived. And a big reason they were faster at the start was because their rockets were still extremely large. America did the same thing Russians did with smaller rockets. However, the smaller rockets couldn't take the increased payload to space, so we had to redefine our rocket design.

Because they have airbus? I fail to see the correlation. Boeing or I'm not going!

This plane has nowhere near the lifting power of Mriya. Also, it's Ukranian and Ukranians hate the Russians.
