how would you punish a student sleeping in you're class if you were a teacher?
>>
>>721898976
send them home so they can go to sleep
>>
>>721898976
Just let them sleep, and put a "Good Job!" on their failed tests.
>>
>>721898976
I'd let em sleep. If they're asleep in the first place, they wont care about the class anymore if they were awake
>>
>>721898976
I'd send them to the infirmary to take a nap, because anime is real. Thanks Trump
>>
>>721898976

send them home and tell them never to come back, since that's rude as fuck to have some little shit kid tune out knowledge GIVEN to them.

how does it feel to talk and talk to someone, only to find out they've been covertly texting on their phone the whole time.

rude. if i were a professor and some kid slept on a regular basis in my class, yeah, i'd send the fucker home. not interested or listening---gtfo

My teacher would have everyone leave the room, then turn out the lights and throw an eraser at the chalkboard, shaming and traumatizing the student for life.

He was a real scumbag.
>>
murica, where people's first inclination is to punish
>>
I would give green light to all the other students who want to write something on his/her face and then later ask the student to solve a problem or read a text to the class.
>>
>>721898976
I give them one warning. Everybody gets one warning.

If they don't need that warning, I look to their class leader or the administration to take care of it, usually by forcing them to stand-up when not performing class exercises.
>>
>>721898976
Make note of it, then when it comes to final grades, if they are a borderline grade. Guess who is not getting bumped up
>>
>>721900182

And then rape them. You can rape them in front of everyone. As a teacher you can literally do anything that you want. Above the law.

I am a teacher.

Punishing them is stupid. A lot of kids don't get home until late and the stupid language arts and math teachers load them down with ridiculous amounts of homework.

I just make them go get some water and stand up for a sec.

Sometimes we prank them by setting an alarm on the computer, and veeeeeeeery quietly sneaking into the hallway and wait for the fun. But that only worked once.
>>
>>721898976

Tickle fight.
>>
>>721898976
i had a teacher once that would take the heavy textbook and throw it down on the desk next to em. Id imagine thats a pretty scary way to wake up. Also in college in a big-ass lecture I've seen professors stop lecturing to point out the sleeping person and ask someone to wake them up. That would be pretty embarrassing in a lecture of 50 people to have em all looking at you and some stranger waking you up.

Go over particularly important material that I know for a fact will be an upcoming test.

If the student is a good one, they'll end up reviewing the powerpoints/handouts/homework/etc. and will expect it anyway.

If the student is lousy, well, it helps thin the heard, academic-wise.
>>
>>721900976

Nah. People respect you when you respect them back and they see there's a mutual understanding.

Students are in class to perform a service. It is their job to do so. My job is to provide that service. A student who inhibits training in any fashion for anyone else is providing a disservice to those around them.

So they can stand-up or take a thermogenic or get some coffee. If I can lecture for 7 hours a day on 4-5 hours of sleep during my course, they can stay up for it.

>>721901935

Whatever edgelord. You got your warning. That's at least fair. Respect is a two-way street.

Depends on if the administration is on my ass about punishing these kids or making sure they pass or shit like that. If not, fuck it. If they're not a distraction when they're asleep, like they don't snore or anything, then I say let them. Who does it hurt?

>If I can lecture for 7 hours a day on 4-5 hours of sleep during my course, they can stay up for it.
That's not really a fair statement. If you're lecturing, you're at least doing something and unlikely to spontaneously fall unconscious while talking. Students on the other hand always have to sit at a desk and listen, which can potentially be hypnotic to the listener.

After he has been unresponsive to compassion, of course
>>
>>721906505

It looks like you fell asleep during grammar class. Of course you don't hand the sleeping individual a pillow. I've never fallen asleep during a class so that's why I figure there must be a reason he fell asleep while you immediately jump to the conclusion that he cares about you so little he thinks he can just go to sleep. You probably feel this way because you have low self-esteem and therefore the worst explanation must be the correct one.

its okay, most kids are manageable and even fun to be around, but others..

yea they are a lost cause, but they literally hit rock bottom when they come to these kinds of schools and we have to deal with their bullshit.

I always take the compassionate route first but these kids respect a street fight because thats what they grew up with.
Not that it bothers me... i grew up in a ghetto and can handle myself but the kids know you cant really do much.

but im new; about a year doing this. I'm sure ill figure something out.

idk what backwards ass schools you idiots went to

but a teacher doesnt have the power to send a student home

the only one who has that power is the administrator on duty

and if "student was asleep" was worthy of an expulsion than there would be no one in school.

also this is literally the most highschool thread ive seen in ages

I mean, it's not really something they can control. Stop being an egomaniac thinking they do it to disrespect you. The times I fell asleep during class was because I have a sleep disorder. If I would be able to stay awake, I would.

Are there honestly so many small-dicked fedora-wearer's that are so quick to punish a student for sleeping in class?

I'll advise you of the proper way to handle the situation, you take notes for a change you cucks.

Is the student snoring? If so, it's probably a disturbance, so give them a nudge or get a student nearby to.

If not, let the student sleep. They know they have a responsibility to pay attention in class and they probably knew they were going to be tired going there. When class is over, suggest they ask a classmate for any notes they missed. Can also ask them why they're so tired.

Where are all of the fags with the yardsticks and one-legged stools coming from?

for most people it is, most people aren't diseased genetic hairpiles.
Students should be getting to bed on time or face consequences at school. That is, normal students, not inbred inferior retards, but who cares about them?

Give them one warning before being sentenced to after school detention, which includes receiving a spanking.

Maybe sleep disorders are genetic, who knows. I have plenty of ideas on the subject, however, I see it would be worthless trying to discuss these with you.

At any rate, if someone is tired and starts sleeping in the middle of the class, that is their body controlling it. Nobody would choose to fall asleep in a crowded room where they are supposed to pay attention.

Did someone sleep through your MLP presentation at show and tell, or what is your problem? You honestly don't seem very sane.

Hah raw

Seriously though, do you get angry at anons on /b/ though?
>>
>>721914828
Maybe they are genetic, maybe its just a phase, maybe teens have a later circadian rhythm.

The fact is that we are discussing the 99.9% of people without rare latin named genetic disformities. Snowflakes can go in the special school so their special needs dont hold the promising members of society back. If you want we can talk about the special children next and not "students" as a group.

For the overwhelming majority of students, they fall asleep because they do not get enough sleep. Still following along? Kids stay up late and then make up that sleep deficit during a boring lecture. The whole purpose of a punishment is to prevent an activity from taking place again in the future. If you make a big deal about sleeping in class, the student will make the necessary changes to not do that again. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. (and again because you seem offended, we are talking about normal people, not those who would die without others taking care of them)

If you're still confused i can explain it slower and use smaller words, i know you have "an issue"

I'm a teacher and I just let them sleep unless they start snoring, then I drop a textbook on their desk. It's my job to provide the material and make sure they don't kill each other, not to make sure they learn it. If they would rather sleep than pass my class then that's their choice.

Yes, and there is this thing called sleep disorders that make many people not get their sleep. Are you following me?

Now let me ask you a question, why would "snowflakes" need to go to a special school for falling asleep during a class (which has happened to probably the majority of people I know).

I once fell asleep in class ava woke up to everybody staring at me and the teacher asking if i was okay followed by everybody laughing. I think i was either talking in my sleep or or the teacher orchestrated it while i was asleep either way i tried very hard to not sleep in class anymore.

If they're hot, they can take a nap with their throat/ass full of my cock.

If they're not, they can go pass out in the hall.

Very dissapointed this wasn't already posted.

I see you have trouble thinking. Must be your sleep rotted brain.

Here it is in smaller words, and slower.

We are talking about, the 99% of people without disorders (or: god's oopsies). We are talking about normal children. Normal people work the way you would expect. Not enough sleep? you get tired. Stay up too late? you get tired.

People with real disorders like narcolepsy need special treatment, and to change the pace of an entire class to accommodate them is unreasonable. Get it yet? I dont know how I can dumb it down any more for you.

Excuse me, but I'll enact the pants around here!
>>
>>721916984
special kids with special needs go to special schools.
>>
>>721916830
I'd agree, but being part of Generation X doesn't excuse you from typing like the dregs of Generation Z.
>>
>>721913916
Anon, some people have after school commitments they can't get out of. What then?
>>
>>721917122
A neurological issue that can cause people to fall asleep is no where near "special education"
>>
>>721917046
>to change the pace of an entire class to accommodate them is unreasonable
How is a person nodding off in class changing the pace of an entire class (unless some idiot gets a bruised ego and disrupts the entire class in order to "punish" them).
>>
>>721917268
are you really claiming that you have over 16 hours of school including travel time per day?
>>
>>721916219
You can't force them to learn. When you deal with 120+ kids a day you can't afford to spend time focusing on individuals that aren't even interested because it takes time away from all the others that actually do want to learn. They don't pay me enough to parent every lazy kid.
>>
>>721917399
can they fit into a normal classroom setting without special accommodation?
>>
>>721917452
Work, School, and after school clubs such as Drama, or something else.
So yes, Actually.

It's just some fedora who enjoys talking tough on /b/ because he has no balls in irl.
>>
>>721917452
Oh, not to mention time dedicated to homework, espeically if you're taking AP or more Advanced classes.
>>
>>721917525
>can they fit into a normal classroom setting without special accommodation?
Yes obviously. I've seen plenty of people nod off in classroom and it had no effect on me nor the class.

Have you ever found nudes of your students on anon ib or /b/?

I'll treat you like an adult since you claim to work like one. Your issue is one of time management. You are butting up against the inevitability that there are only 24 hours in a day. The method of coping is prioritization. You must decide if each class is worth the time that you would otherwise spend on another task. I know you want to be the best (or your parents are making you), but you must make tactical decisions on which tasks you deem worthy. Or drop what you cant handle.

If a teacher decides that his class is more important than you decided his class is, there will be the issue that is the core of this thread. Good luck! and relax, everything comes out in the wash after a decade so DO NOT burn yourself out too young.
>>
>>721917732
then who cares. The other guy had a sleep disorder and wanted the class to revolve around him.

Most people have disorders now faggotron prime. America gives people tardiness and thats why america are is stupid
>>
>>721918281
What other guy? I was the one stating I had a sleep disorder, and sometimes nodded off during classes every so often. Never was a problem for me or the classes. And they certainly didn't revolve around me. Nor did I ask them to.

Are you legit autistic? Think maybe you need to go to special school and learn how to read.

My band teacher would take a pair of cymbals and play them right next to the kids ear

I'd tell everyone to sleep tbh, i know jackshit about being a teacher so is not like they would miss a lot if they fall asleep on my class, as long as i get paid i don't care.
>>
>>721906474
>>721908750
He's at best a retarded high school teacher, not higher level education, if he's a teacher. People can do whatever the fuck they want in class as long as it doesn't bother other people.
>>
>>721919102
I don't live on that planet. Are you some kind of faggot?

kids often cannot make that choice.

the parents "know what's best for them" and load them up

ill call her parents or give her a warning.
>>
>>721917046
you are fucking retarded. 1 in 15 americans has sleep apnea, and then there's all the kids who have ADHD (yes ADHD is very real) which fucks up your sleep cycle, and THEN there's all the kids with personality disorders and hormone imbalances which all wreak havoc on your ability to sleep in one way or another

you are really, really dumb. for real
>>
>>721898976
Tell everyone else to stop working and just let the whole class sleep for the rest of the class. I'd even turn on some music. Or just have everyone act frozen when the person does wake up.

>>721899757
>tune out knowledge GIVEN to them

legitimately irked me a little bit
>>

exactly what would that accomplish? if someone sleeps you will disrupt everything you are doing? Fucking stupid.

Have them hold up their text book over their head in front of class. Or, they can go home and take a zero on all of today's assignments.
>>
>>721920076
Teenagers all have hormone imbalances. It's called puberty. That's why I strongly disagree with the amount of medication that's given in high school; teens are naturally hormonal wrecks and learning to deal with it better equips them to handle stress later in life. Plus, there's not really much in the way of convincing studies that show whether it fucks them up in the long run. Teens are more likely to become dependant on substances than nearly any other age group, and there's no telling if it fucks up their regulation of hormones permanently.

What are you actually answering? Seems wholly irrelevant to what he is saying.
>>
>>721898976
I wouldn't punish them so much as I would try to keep them occupied. Being tired is hardly the student's fault, in fact I wouldn't put any blame on them, being unshakably tired isn't a lack of respect.

What, they're rebellious for not getting enough sleep? They're troublesome because they don't like what's being taught and your monotone voice is droning?

Fuck off, that's stupid. Make them read passages from the textbook. Ask them questions every few minutes. Jokingly ask the person next to them to shake them awake. Reassure them the class is almost over.

No need to be a fucking cunt about it.

different in university, you should give students benefit of the doubt, could be working two jobs studying late night, family issues, etc. and they're paying for that so not your problem either
