I've found many a bag of what I like to call 'mystery powder' before and have a testing criteria to find out what it is if I don't happen to have a testing kit on hand.

1. What does it smell like, describe it.

2. take a very small amount on the tip of your finger and check the taste.

3. check the consistency, is it brittle, can you crush it easily or super hard, is it oily/smeary.

4. is it water soluble.

5. if it starts to match up with something I might recognise then I'd take a very small bump, like an amount you would ketamine or MDPV then wait about an hour, if you notice nothing then take a larger amount. maybe double that and wait a half hour. if it doesn't work take a line then wait but at that point you can be pretty sure it's nothing or you probably poisoned yourself.
