We already have a border patrolled by ice agents, that aren't supposed to let any unauthorized people across the border. The wall just helps the border do what it is supposed to do. So I can't see any reasonable objection to a wall. Unless the people objecting pretty much don't want a border to exist and hope as many people can come in/out as possible.

Then again, the idea of strictly controlled borders and passports is a relatively new progressive idea. A little over 100 years ago, you didn't even have passports, and people more or less came into and out of the USA at will. In the 1800s it was pretty much wide open down there.
