>>719912133 Assembly line in Sweden, manufacturing forklifts for Toyota 26 Around 29K SEK ish (3.3K USD) I don't like it, but I guess it's not that bad I got the job right after gymnasium. Graduated on a friday, got job on monday
>>719912133 High voltage electronics manufacturer 35 About $12 an hour I fucking hate it with a passion 33% of the team i work with are far too stupid to do the job but it's impossible to fire them due to various issues, manager is a thundercunt who thinks encouraging us to work harder means shouting at us and blaming us for all the problems which aren't our fault on a near daily basis, i'm an office worker yet i'm paid the same as the guy who drives the forklift in the warehouse, the company expects us to do 30% more work YEAR ON YEAR with no additional staff so, in order for us to hit our december target, we were working 60+ hour weeks when we're contracted for 35 and the thanks we got on the first day back in january you ask? We were told the company is going to continue to expect unrealistic targets and unrealistic working hours and if we don't like it to look for another job. Great way for a fortune 500 company to treat the staff that bust their balls reaching stupid targets.
>>719912133 Petrol station 19 £5.30/h It's alright tbh, First few months were shit and I debated leaving. But I stuck with it for the cash, albeit shit cash.
Finished school, got a place in university, wanted a part time job so I could get some money to blow without having to get another loan. Took ages to get an interview from anywhere I applied to, this place gave me one, First interview and I got the job. Couldn't be fucked job searching again, that's why I haven't left.
>>719914552 you realise they are paying you an illegal wage you fucking slave. As of last year minimum wade for 18-20 is £5.55 per hour here in the UK. You are fully within your rights to demand a raise. They are paying you on the minimum wage for 2 years ago.
>Where do you work? Marines >Age? 19 >Salary? Like 700 dollar pay checks >Do you like working there? Fuck no snake >Why? My command has totalitarian control over my life, because of stupid shit previous marines did.
UPS management 36 £51k including bonus Nov/Dec peak season made me think about looking elsewhere but new year, new perspective and I'm with a company which provides development/promotion opportunities and/or stability
>>719912133 >Where do you work? trucking company >Age? 25 >Salary? between 50k-70k depending on how much I work that year. >Do you like working there? yes >Why? I work 5-7 days and get 3-4 days off (which I like). Small company. Good benefits
Paper boy + mail delivery at night (in Sweden) 21 About 15 bucks an hour Yes, short workdays, good exercise, chill night time work. Only complaint is when weather is trash, when it hits -20F or during rain in summer.
I work about 2,5 hours a day, could switch to car district for 2 hours more on average but losing the physical part of the work doesnt sound very attractive.
One of the big 4 semiconductor fabs 31 $106k + benefits/stock Yes, I'm one of the R&D groups. I get to do something interesting every day and my performance is judged on how many unique and interesting things I can imagine so I'm literally paid to fuck around in my lab. Kind-of odd to be in an industry where (in industry) job options can fit on a single page though since there's not many large fabs.
>>719914983 Honestly, it probably is £5.55 then. I checked how much I was earning like last time I got paid, so I must've counted the hours wrong when I was working it out or some shit. Though, i'll keep an eye on it this month now that you've said that.
>>719915406 I use a variety. I use HASS, Hurco and Mitsubishi Vertical CNC.
Hurco CNC lathe and an old Blanchard grinder.
I get as much overtime as I want witch is about $38 an hour on weekdays and $51 on Sundays. I usually fall just short of 100K a year. I really enjoy it to be honest but I won't work more than 60 hours a week no matter what. That is where I put my foot down.
Grocery Store Meat Dept. 21 $13/hr Absolutely not It's shit. The company is shit, the management is shit, the customers are shit. The only saving grace is the cool coworkers. I'm just glad I recently got all my deckhand prerequisites, so now all i've gotta do is find myself a boat job and i'll be making close to $30/hr to start.
>Where do you work? Public Transit - Bus Driver >Age? 26 >Salary? $13.30/HR >Do you like working there? No, not really >Why? Used to be the assistant safety officer at a different agency in the same city, lost the job for trying to uphold the law... This is the best paying job I could get into while the lawsuit works its way through the courts but damn does it suck ass.
factory who made Polystyrene 31 1800€/month about 2k$ yes small factory ( 40 co-worker ) , very close to where i live ( 3 miles ) , good work time and freetime enough to have a part job ( computer fixing )
>>719912133 P&DSRR Co. Ltd. (Railway Guard) 18 £10/h 60hr week Hell yeah Constant stream of Foreign Exchange students, bitches love a British Accent and a Guy in uniform, beyond that though, I love knowing people come to have a good time and I help make a part of that.
>>719916295 I use SurfCAM and solidCAM. I used Gibbs when I was in college. I liked it. I have never used mastercam but I have heard good things about it. I also know conversation programing but I don't like it to be honest.
Yes. I mean I went to medical school and I graduated with an MD degree and then did a residency in psychiatry. This is my first year of actually being fully licensed. I work in the hospital psychiatric ward, I love it.
Give me money? You make so much and I only make 24k. I'm 33, I have 2 kids and I work my ass off full time in a supermarket. I'm behind my rent and I need $2400 by the end of January or else I'm fucked. Can you help? You have to you can obviously spare it pulling in the money you do help a /b/ro out?
>>719916891 For me, it wasn't. I built computers in high school and published web sites for my favorite video games. I got into video editing and eventually learned autocad when I went to college.
I struggled more with manual machining on the bridgeport and lathe. Once they set me up on CNC I destroyed it and quickly moved up to the top. I was machine shot supervisor on night shift for a while. I would train apprentices. Nights got shut down so I don't have the responsibility anymore but I kind of prefer it that way.
Are you for real? Dude I sympathize with your situation but I'm not going to give $2400 to a stranger on the internet I don't even know. How am I supposed to know if your story is even real? I feel for you and life isn't easy but I can't help you dude. Maybe if I knew you in real life or some shit but no i can't just do it like this Sorry.
>>719912133 >Working on and off while getting an engineering degree >When I do work it's landscaping, but most driving the trucks/trailers/tractors and fixing machinery >$15 an hour >Often make more than 10 hours of overtime a week >Work there because the owners are family friends.
FUCK YOU you stupid greedy nigger. How fucking shit of a human being are you you can't even spare a couple of thousand for someone in serious need. You're not even a real doctor you're a fucking hack and a liar who pushes pills for a living and you don't help shit. I hope you fucking get sued for malpractice you fucking faggot FUCK YOU
>Where do you work? Sam's Club >Age? 19 >Salary? $24,000 >Do you like working there? Yes/No >Why? >Yes: It pays well and works well with me being in school, most of the managers are super chill and treat you like an actual person. + I am in line to be head of electronics which would mean another raise and job experience >No: SOME of the "supervisors" are bitchy and try to dictate you in any way they want when they go on a power trip. They don't accept doctors excuses/any call off for any reason and I get reoccurring pneumonia which is very hard to work with.
>>719912133 >Egg Farm >25 >$16/hr >Yes >Everyone's like a big family, and free Wifi, all I do is check gauges/temps/misc, since I just Pasteurize the liquid egg product I just sit around all day doing paperwork.
>>719912133 >Artist in the medical field >31 >~50k >yes >Pay isn't great but I'm a slacker and don't want to work on my portfolio to look for a new job. Company's deadlines aren't serious and it's convenient to where I live. I stream movies all day while working.
>Where do you work? Small creative charity delivering NCS >Age? 26 >Salary? £24,000 >Do you like working there? Sort of >Why? I work on a youth programme, I have a huge amount of responsibility and control which is cool at my age but sometimes I cannot be fucked with another 50 hour week for less than my friends make while I try and hold together a team of 5 people who really can't be bothered to be there. Oh well, I'll give it another year then take my experience to the private sector
Bar manager (in Australia) 21 I net around $1000 per week give or take a little Fuck yes I do. I get to stand around and talk shit with the regulars by day and then at night I get to tell drunk cunts to fuck off. If said drunks don't fuck off I get to make them fuck off. It's brilliant!
>>719912133 >Software developer >36 >$90K >Yes >I get to do stuff I want to do, the people are cool, I have a manager who knows his stuff and everyone respects, and I've been there so long it's like a part of me.
(inb4 "only $90K?" ... I'm not in a place with a high cost of living like Cali or NY)
>>719916891 If you do an apprenticeship or you learn CNC programming. My advice would be to look around after you are an accomplished programmer. Most places will take advantage of you if they trained you there. I had to threaten to leave my last job to get a raise. Even then I looked around a found a job offering much higher pay rates so I left anyway.
>>719912133 >Notary (not sure of the translation) >20 >45 euro's/h >Yeah I get interesting cases, can do all everything on my laptop wherever I want, It's good pay and it's in line with my law study >See above
Kinder Morgan 40 200k plus bonuses No but the money is good Have to deal with fucking pipeline contractors everyday trying to cut corners and not wanting to build to spec. Spend most of my time arguing.
Hur hur I don't underatand why we need these concrete saddles on the pipeline for the next mile it would be cheaper if we didnt use....
Because it's a natural gas pipeline going through a wetland you fucking idiot, it's under water and with out them the pipeline will pop out of the ground.
>>719918569 If I hadn't gone into teaching, I'd have gone into law. I am fascinated by it, but I think the work would consume me, and not in the way that teaching does but in the anxiety-inducing, hand-wringing sort of way.
>>719912133 >University marine science field station >32 >58k/yr >Love it >Why: My work is ⅓ field work (on boat, diving, installing velocimeters or collecting core samples), ⅓ lab work (chemical analysis of interstitial water, erosion chamber experiments, configuring oceanographic gear), and ⅓ desk work (scripting in Matlab or R and programming in Python, collecting and making sense of data, writing reports, etc) so it's always exciting. Also, as I'm integral in a product from beginning to end, I don't feel like the proverbial cog in a wheel. And as I'm not the principle investigator, my day is rarely long so I enjoy a solid work-life balance ratio, even if my job is awesome and half that shit I would want to do anyway whether or not I was getting paid.
>Do you like working there? I don't, but it's easy work and I've picked up shit like forklift operating, shipping and receiving etc. But if I want to get drunk or do drugs on the job, it's pretty easy. >Why?
>>719912133 High-End restaurant in Minneapolis 20 $10/H yes i realized early on im not a book worm and enjoy working with my hands, i also enjoy putting a smile on faces. Food is a very easy way to get people to smile lol. Favorite thing about food is that it makes you use all of your senses at one, sight, smell, hearing, taste, feel and etc.
The White House Age 70 I don't take a salary Do I ever love it! I get to reboot the greatest nation on earth. I have my own personal plane, helicopter, and security agency. No one can tell me what to do.
>>719915941 Same here. Grocery Store Meat Dept. 23 $10.40/hr last time i checked. From what ive been told it should be more now, ive just been too lazy to check. Fuck no Only thing i do is close from 5pm to 10pm all week. Boring as shit. Cleaning up after people that apparently dont know how to clean up after themselves. Dealing with shitty ass snooty customers. Plus store manager is a complete dousche. Meat manager is cool though, but only so much he can do when store manager over rules everything
>Gov. Scientist >31 >$33 per hour, $68,000 >Loving it, but takes motivation >It's my first job out of grad school, the security is great and I expect to stay here for another 5-6 years. My goal is to be making over 100k per year by the time I'm 40, so I'm really just gaining industrial experience. My life has been the slow and steady path for a while. Other than that, we work on a schedule that lets me have a lot of time off sporadically (3-4 days every two weeks). I'm in a new state and would like to start a meaningful relationship and gather social circles. I'm fit, funny, and generally well liked. I feel needed at my job. But I feel as if I've internalized some bipolar tendencies... not medicated. But there will be times when I really have to motivate myself to get out of funks. Keeping my mind active has really helped and led me to learning a lot of talents--but it's also made me a bit of a reclusive jack of all trades. At least I know what the problem is. Still things to work on.
>>719912133 >Apprentice Electrician >26 >35/hr >Very Much So Less about hard work and more about using your brain and hand dexterity. Good money, requires education so other employees aren't retarded. Unionized. No boss watching over you. Work from a van making your own decisions.
>>719912133 >Where do you work? Best Buy, Product Process Department >Age? 28 >Salary? 13/hour >Do you like working there? It's fine for now. >Why? I like my coworkers, it's a chill environment, and I'm often doing physical work, which keeps me a little more fit than I would be otherwise. Pay isn't great, but it's not bad either.
>>719921590 yes you bid once a year for your days off and vacation days, all the senior people take fri/sat/sun/mon off and summer/winter vacation so people at the bottom are left with shit days off and vacation in march or october.
>Where do you work? Clothing store in the mall/grad student >Age? 26 >Salary? 12/hr & 12k >Do you like working there? No & its ok >Why? It's shitty retail & I'll probably be doing something in this environment for the rest of my life so I have to get use to it
>>719912133 >>Where do you work? Electrican, Germany >>Age? 22 >>Salary? 16eur/hr >>Do you like working there? I fucking hate it. >>Why? Lost a bunch of friends due to beeing often away from home in hotels. Work is pretty hard with long days but i have no friends anyway
> Top 3 US Bank > 24 > 67K > Some days yes others no > The pay and benefits are amazing & prestige of working there means endless possibilities in future. Downside is being a fucking analyst doing all the grunt work.
>In a Swedish Sports Arena >19 >$13.5/h >Yes >I work with recycling and waste management and it is occasionally a fairly stressful job but since I work with my father and lots of happy and nice people I enjoy working there.
And just for fun, here is a picture containing the swedish king
>>719912133 I'm 48, and I'm a tarot reader. I do readings on a little folding table on the street. On average I'll make $40-$60 for a 14 hour shift, but it's not hard work sitting in the sun and smoking my pipe, waiting for punters. On a bad day I'll make $0, and on my best day I made $220.
Apartment Complex leasing agent 32 45k No, it's boring and the paperwork is tedious. I can earn more with my old job as videographer, but the work can be inconsistent and I just moved to Florida and am working my way into the local wedding market in st. Augustine, so I can't quit yet
>>719920488 thanks for the tips man. assuming you're the app dev guy I first responded to, how long have you been in the mobile development industry? did you ever do other programming and if so, could you compare what you like/dislike between the different industries?
>>719925185 I wear a fedora to protect me from the sun. And you don't inhale pipe smoke, you hold it in your mouth for the flavour and absorb the nicotine through your bucal membranes, so I'll get mouth or tongue cancer, not lung cancer.
>Louies Finer Meats >18 (in HS so its part time) >idk around $4000 made $1407 from Sept to Dec >Compared to other jobs I could get in HS this one is best home around 7-730, laid back, variety of shit to do so it's not repetitive, and holiday bonuses/free shit
>>719927939 I'm the tarot reader. What I do has nothing to do with the supernatural, and is a form of applied psychology. The phenomenon of apophenia means when people attempt to find meaning in a random medium, they will actually project material from their own subconscious. So I'm not actually reading the cards, I'm reading the person's body language, word choices, eye movements, and so on, and reflecting back at them everything they're telling me. When psychiatrists do this, the technique is called "reflection," and is part of standard psychotherapeutic treatment. What I show people isn't the future but their own inner, subconscious processes.
>>719928327 We're getting pretty loosey goosey with the term scientist, but fine, I'll give that to you. Just because you're using aphophenia, you're neither studying aphophenia itself nor your subjects in any fashion as to report statistics on them as a group or experiments that can be repeated on individuals. You're more like a telemarketer who has uses certain psychological principles to make a sale but doesn't actually study the phenomenon or subjects themselves. But whatever, you want to go with applied scientist, fuck it, why not.
>>719912133 > Irish pub, cook, busser, dishwasher >22 >11.50 +tips > least shittiest bosses i have had, use to work at victorias secret . Boss was the biggest bitch > use to work at fillipis pizza, the son of the owner was my boss, and he got fired by his own family for being a massive cunt
