I've been following my dreams of becoming semi-immortal for some time now, which has lead me to the movement that is Transhumanism. You are right that mankind has been achieving great things throughout the history of time, however, imagine if you would, that all of Earth's genius's were still alive. The people that shook the world died. That's it. Everything that they've learned, created, managed, proved, and broke the frontier of, are gone. Their life's work remains, but what if they were still working on it? What then? Imagine how far we'd be if we still had those people. Imagine if Einstein was still alive. Imagine if we could prevent the death of those genius's that are still ticking, an example would be Stephen Hawking. He probably won't make it for another twenty years, but it would be incredible to have him serve humanity for a longer period of time.

I strongly believe that Humanity is limited by how smart people can get within a certain amount of time. Imagine if that time were extended by a grand margin.

We need Transhumanism. We need mechanical bodies to further the progress that Humanity strives towards. We need to live longer so that we may serve longer. To find the knowledge of the universe is the genius's goal, but they ran out of time.

Most of the driver so far has been Moore's law. Conventional photolithography techniques are on their way out and will most likely be replaced by 2020. The idea behind the Singularity is still sound in that we know it is possible to create computers that can at least match the performance of the human brain but to reach this would necessitate a brand new paradigm to continue Moore's law or enormous improvements in software architecture.

There is a whole lot of progress happening in the fields of machine learning, as well as higher resolution brain scanning techniques, synthetic biology, and materials science. A Singularity event will probably require the convergence of these multiple and seemingly disparate fields.

If you were NOT born with both sets of genitals you are not a hermaphrodite you were born a male or a female and your body will develop only a certain way, regardless of how much artificial shit you do to it.. it is still that gender.

I hated puberty ever since it began. I can't think of anything that is more antithetical to my needs and wants than puberty. I like being an adult because it grants me freedom and autonomy but the physical changes that come with puberty and pubescence were annoying and unnecessary IMO.
