the common argument you see thrown around when someone brings up how unfair the electoral college is, is that low population states deserve a say in the presidential election. but as it is, where each state at a minimum gets 3 votes even if theoretically they only had 1 population, means there's an unequal value to each state's worth in the presidential election.

beyond that there are more rules in place to further cement the fact that the founding fathers thought 'we the people' were all retarded. there's an arbitrary finish line for the EC, 270 votes. if you hit that line first you win. if no one hits that line then the sitting legislature gets to pick whichever of the top candidates they want.
