Ran a recruitment business. I was basically stupid with the money, wasted it all on things I shouldn't have done, subsequently didn't work hard enough to keep sales coming in, didn't pay my taxes and got shut down owing £30k.

I can start again but I had a bit of a breakdown after it all so just want an easy life for now. Just started a new job today in fact.

Hard to estimate really, I guessed I lost about £30k at the casino, possibly less. I was going out partying 2-3 nights a week, had an expensive apartment I stayed in and lots of tag along friends who I used to pay for. Drink was the main issue, without drink I wouldn't have done drugs or gambled. I don't drink anymore so tryin to get my life back on track.

Since you worked in this industry, you know that it's a market that will be unsaturated for the next two generations the way it's going.

If you seriously want to rejuvenate your position in it, if you want to sit down to talk it through and get it on paper, I can contribute connects to make something happen.

As someone who worked all my life and then was on income support (welfare) for nearly 2 years, I sympathise with this anon. It's a very debilitating situation to be in which ultimately gets worse over time and you do end up justifying your existence in various ways as a defence mechanism.

To the welfare anon, I hope you find something that makes you happy and gives you what you want from life.

Why do you think a person would willingly choose to put themselves through something they don't like for no perceived benefit?
If you're mad at me for taking less than a cent from your taxes for wanting to be alive without living half my life for some other person I don't really know what to say.

I honestly could just go again myself as of tomorrow pretty easily - the actual start up costs can be basically nothing if you do it right. I've got a laptop, phone and Internet connection and the job boards can give you up to 60 day payment terms if you're a new account and starting up, so it gives me 2 months to make a placement.

The main issue I face is that I really did become deeply depressed, had basically a breakdown and I've had no routine or structure in my life for the last 5 years. I've only very recently tackled quite a serious drug and alcohol problem (I nearly got sectioned) and I've returned to employment just so I can get my life back on track and then I'll probably start up again in the future.

Appreciate the heads up though, I just don't want it all at this moment in my life!

Nearly 5 years, and to be fair it did get boring but that just stemmed more wild behaviour. I started to drink earlier, gamble more, take more coke etc. Ultimately I lost my long term partner and also my son (who I see regularly but don't live with him anymore), I'm living at my grandmothers house because my mother tried to get me sectioned, I fell into serious depression and really just fucked everything up. I've got over it all now, it was just a matter of too much too young and being from a relatively poor background I wasn't capable of handling the money properly. I know I'll start again I'm the future but I'll just do things very differently.

I'm not far off to be honest, aspergers is not crippling and I'm more on the lighter side of the spectrum than the heavier side, the thyroid stuff I can take supplements for but does probably affect my energy levels and weight.

I can't really say that I could work a job long term without being fired or failing somehow, but it's not like I'm disabled, I just don't have any motivation and can't force myself to do anything.
>>
>>718575062

I did end up in that place for sectioned peeps. Though it was a temporary stay I got because I became homeless due to loss of income.
That period really fucked me over. Still notice I have "waves" where I'm productive for 3 months but then lull for the 3 after that.

But anyone whose lived is familiar with this sort of thing. They're not gonna hold it against you. But I'm sure you know this.

I can feel this Anons feels, I was part of a start up (one of the three) so ground level, and it ended up taking off something crazy, I couldn't handle the stress of dealing with all the flood of employees and all the shit they did, ended up in hospital a few times due to stress eating my body alive. I honestly feel if I didn't quit it would be heart attack or stroke. Now I kick back and spend all day playing with my four year old (didn't cash out so basically broke now, £4000 in bank and earning a shade under £30,000 after taxes as a freelance adviser) and its pretty damn fantastic really.

Thanks anon, good to know I'm not the only one. It took me a long time to accept that I haven't destroyed my life - I actually used to tell my gf that if my business failed I'll kill myself, and that was when we were only just starting, so clearly something wasn't right with me in the first place too.

The same though, got a 5 year old boy who I completely took for granted and now I definitely don't. Private education doesn't mean anything, I'm from a poor family but I got privately educated through a government scheme and the schooling system was worse than other local free grammar schools. It boils down to the person and making sure they're disciplined and hard working I think, more so even than being naturally intelligent or talented. If you haven't saved up a Uni fund they can just get a student loan, like the vast majority of other people.

Either way though, there's so much more important things than money - being happy is so much better than being rich. I was sort of rich, or relatively for me and my surroundings, but I was deeply unhappy, so what's the point in that? Happiness is the key!
>>
>>718576587
I went the other way.

My guys pulled me through. When I was in a depressive pit my biz/b/ros were there for me, and it gave me something to aim for.
Far as family life at home goes, had none. It was all gone, which is why I ended up fucked up, cause I lost it in a pretty fucked up way.

I've gotten into some areas now though where I'm not sure I can have a normal life again. I have gfs, but I think I can't, or at least shouldn't, take it any further than that.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I sometimes regret it, but then I also really want this. I think more than anything it's not the white picket fence in general, I just miss her. But that's life. Maybe at the end of my road I'll see her again.

I have an order of magnitude more money than that in my hedge fund. I don't consider 2 million dollars to be a lot of money.

How to get rich quick:

1. Wait until 31.01.
2. Buy WKN: VS66KC
3. Buy more of it if you can
...
4. Wait until course correction which will happen this year.
5. Set a "trailing stopp loss" if the price of the certificate is over $ Bucks at 1$ difference

Made almost 2 months of my normal salary in addition to that last year on the market... 1 part dividends, one part with simple raise-and-sell

I get that. But even if my frame of reference was different, and 2M was a very small percent of my worth, I wouldn't leave it laying around, useless, and uninsured.

Just like I don't leave $2,000 cash in my coat pocket.

Do you really believe that bank accounts are insured?

If there was ever a run on the banks, it would be a result of the value of the dollar collapsing due to our $22 trillion dollar deficit.
>not to mention the ~400 trillion dollar bubble that still exists in the derivatives market.

It wouldn't matter.

A different anon, and not as cash rich, but am a partner in a couple of successful companies. Microfinance, Forex brokerage, and Software developer. Obviously not doing the technical stuff.

Idk why I'm still here honestly, been here since when I start Uni, so... around 2003-2004. Never really went away

There's something about this shithole that just feels like home

Or maybe it's just a shitty habit

Anyway, just wanted to say that you can be successful and be /b/tard. At the same time. The stupid crap you do in your spare time doesn't define your life

And that includes you faggot

I bet that's more money than I'll make in my whole life. I've been in debt since I was born. Raised by a single mother with absolutely terrible money sense and decision-making abilities. I educated myself, but cannot seem to escape the debt.

In contrast, my girlfriend was born into an upper-middle class, white, suburban family and has been handed absolutely every opportunity on the planet. She's never wanted for anything. Companies have lined up to pay her more money than she knows what to do with.

It's the anonymity.

You can speak openly, if you do it right people won't lead it back to you, and it'll disappear as quickly as it came.

When you have secrets weighing on you, or at least stuff too sensitive to discuss openly, it's a godsend.

I think half the MIC frequents this place.
