i dont know you bud but i work for a large insurance corporation and the affordable care act is the primary reason insurance rates have gone up. Its an easy equation:
1) you use the govt to force people to buy a private product
2) use price controls to force sellers of said product to be unable to follow the free market
3) force employers to provide specific types of coverage regardless of their employees needs.
This creates a dynamic where employers want to provide the least coverage for the least cost, insurance companies want to provide the least coverage for the most cost, and individuals want the most coverage for the least cost.
As a result of this, you get the situation we currently have. Around 1% of insured people cost about 30% of the total cost of healthcare for an insurance company. When everyone has to be insured at the same rate you get the same effect as taking a mean income in a country with great wealth disparity. The very few at the far end creat a massive table tilting against everyone else.
