Should mention that birch wood itself is not a great firestarter.

The bark is what burns well. Inside of it there is very flammable oil that will ignite easily.

The Adirondacks have thickly layered birch bark on its birch trees.

It also peels off the tree pretty well. People used to make baskets out of them & are still used for that purpose today.

This is possible to do, however C4 is set off by an electric charge, not gunpowder, at least not the small quantity you would be able to place in there.
