The argument here is entirely contingent on semantics; specifically, it's based on how we define racism. In my research in conflict resolution, I've found that the groups that usually argue this point /define/ racism in two different ways.

The first group defines racism more or less as one group of power treating another group like shit, and the second group defines it as prejudice based on perceived stereotypes along race lines.

People define abstract terms differently, that's fine.

I don't think the point here is that they were racist, or they were this, or they were that. What we know is that they generalized one racial group and hated them based on the perceived stereotype that they were all awful people.

I understand that people of color aren't given the same treatment in society, that's no question. But are you really defending them, after torturing a man with disabilities because of the actions of another man, and parading about his race?

I think under any circumstances, if you're siding with people who cut a man open and put out cigarettes in his blood, you're probably doing something wrong - and maybe the problem isn't the side itself, but the fact that you're being tolerant to behavior of people who do this sort of thing on a side that would otherwise be okay.

If I killed my family, and shortly after stepped on a bug, would the detectives have a huge fucking argument about ethics in terms of spider rights? Hell fucking no. Let's focus on what matters here.
