If I could turn back time I would dedicate more to fitness at an early age and join the SEALs or Green Berets

What special forces would you join if you could /b/?

Implying I don't plan for the future
>>

which one u planning to join anon?
>>
>>717870908
How old are you annon?
If you're under 30 years old you can do it. Hell when I went to basic training we have a fucking 45 year old who graduated basic training.
>>
>>717871395
I've been doing it for 6 years now
>>
>>717871525
I'm 28
Also basic training is glorified PE, nothing compared to what you need to get into one of the elite units
>>
>>717871614
Are you allowed to talk about it?
>>
>>717871628
You can do it most of the guys I work with are mid to late 30s
>>717871678
What do you want to know
>>
>>717871628
Dude if you literally hit the gym for 2-3 hrs a day 5 days a week you would be fine. Plus all you have to do is go to the recruiting station and say you want to train to get prepped for special forces. They will literally let you come in and train with them and also hook you up with some contacts that know what to expect. Stop being a pussy and do it faggot.

But CSOR is not completely un-reachable. They get most of their newbies as basic grunts from Artillery or Infantry

Actually OP, the Army Rangers are thus far the most productive special forces group in the American military. In addition, i hear lots of good things about the Thai special forces.
>>
>>717871972
Rangers are pretty .Gov

Stop reading shit the Army publishes on the internet

I'm in the same boat. Getting a little old but still considering Army as their age requirements are less.

Definately regret not going for SEALS though - barring that Marines but I'm almost at the age limit for that now too.

>17
>have been a surf life saver all my life, competed in aussie titles (nationals)
>god tier levels of fitness
>wanted to join SF since i read immediate action when i was 13
>nearly graduated school. Talk to a recruiter about the Special Forces Direct Entry Scheme
>Recruiter is nothing but positive. turn up for my JOES day (Job Option Evaluation Session)
>everything goes well. crush the fitness test and no mistakes during psych
>Next time I go in, get told i can't join the program because im too young (minimum 19 years).
>recruiter tells me i can go officer stream in the meantime, then transfer over.
>Get accepted for the ADFA. Ship off to Canberra. Breeze through first 12 months. Nothings too hard.
>Doing ok with my degree (BSc. programming)
>go to my 12 month review. Get asked what my goals are. Tell them Special Forces Scheme.
>Get laughed out of the room. Will be 5-6 years minimum before i could apply, unless i qualify for special circumstances.
>Get disenchanted. Spend another 6 months at the academy not sure of what i want to do. Drop out.

That was 7 years ago. Since then Ive completed an engineering degree and my original science degree and am now looking for work. Not a day goes by that i don't feel bitter about that recruiter lying to me.

My advice: If you want something, don't accept compromises. Just keep pushing until you get there.

>>
>>717879279
I'd say so, yeah. I love situations where there's some physical danger, that's what makes it fun.

The physical punishment I would be fine with but the mental and verbal abuse could be a problem for me. The though of having the chaddiest men on the planet (who have probably killed people before) ridiculing you and humiliating you in front of 300+ other men + tens of other instructors is something that scares the fuck out of me. That is the only part of the training that I have doubts on.

My goal is to just always be in the gray area and never bring any attention on myself. Either I need to do that or somehow overcome that fear of humiliation.

>lol you play lacrosse, you must be pretty chad-tier yourself
My face and body look chad-like but inside I am not even remotely a chad.

I have/will play varsity lacrosse all four years of high school and everyone on the team likes me but I'm not really "one of them". I was just the quiet guy who was good and nobody really bothered me. I have absolutely no friends yet no one has really noticed. I have almost no self confidence and I practically blew my cover today during a debate in class today where I messed up and my face turned bright red and everyone started laughing which resulted in me promptly ending whatever argument I was making and sitting down.

I just know in BUD/S that I can't hide this secret from the instructors like I have from my peers in high school. When they find it they will absolutely destroy me and I'm not sure if I can handle that.

Sorry for that, I just needed to get that off my chest today.

Don't I know. Tried for the SAS a few years ago. Got so fucking close but failed at the last 30 minutes of the selection. I still have 2 attempts remaining should I wish to try again.

Did everything perfectly and in the final interrogation phase, tired, starved, humiliated(they strip you) and deprived of light along with a beating. I cracked by revealing my regiment name. Instead of just name, rank and number.

I was devastated. Even "Smithy" the interrogator was gutted about it he took a liking to me through the selection. He told me how close I came. Out of 94 men that tried throughout the process just 3 passed.

I even broke the record for the 18-24 age range(I was 24) escape and evasion when I was hunted by the parachute regiment for a full 4 days deep in the countryside. The last in my group to be caught which really impressed them considering the shit chasing me.

30 minutes from the famous/infamous badge. Biggest regret of my life to be honest.

Still I got further than 99% of serving soldiers ever did so I guess that's something to be proud of. Still in the army though. Been in since I was 16.

Bit retarded. Should have joined enlisted infantry not officer and applied for sasr selection course or commandos.
Direct entry is bullshit and just a way for people to think they will walk in from the street and become a commando just to be told they're not good enough and push them in to a job they need to fill.

Should have done more research and realised recruiters just want to fill quotas.

Navy Seals is the one thing I think I would never pass, even if you gave me a million tries and I could never fail out I just had to keep doing it over and over, I don't think I would ever pass. For that reason I have the utmost respect for those dudes and will never stop thinking of them as some of the coolest dudes on the planet.

I say Navy Seals cause they're the most famous, but I'm sure Green Beret and other programs probably qualify as well.
