Go to psychiatrist, tell them that you have severe social anxiety and taking your friends xanax or clonopin has really helped you out, and you no longer wish to have to buy it illegally to get the help you need. Agree to "trial" the lower dosage they'll initially start you with, then at the next visit in a month tell them you had to double up to get the desire effect and ran out.

Same strategy works for adderall as well (though with concentration, not anxiety).

No. Xanax makes you seem like everything is ok. Not in the sense of being happy again, but in the sense of doing things you normally wouldn't, saying things you normally wouldn't, and acting like you normally wouldn't. Then after a few hours you get super tired. If you fight it you feel pretty good, if you don't you sleep pretty good. Then you wake up with the chance of forgetting a lil bit.

what's it like compared to valium? i started taking 5mg valium a day, wasn't doing much. fast forward to yesterday i took 80mg and still could kickflip over a baby if i wanted to.

yes i took citalopram for 4 years and tried prozac and paxil. ssri's you're supposed to take same time every day in order to work effectively, i told him i didn't like the idea of a drug permanently changing the way my brain develops and just wanted something i could take on the spot if i was having a bad day. currently i've been having a bad couple months so i take valium quite frequently but there are times when i don't take it for 2-3 weeks and dont have any symptoms of withdrawal,

eh i see what you mean. i take them more often now because my ocd is a lot worse, not because i feel a physical dependency on the drug. i would safely say i'm not addicted. if i had the choice i'd smoke a joint over taking the pills but that's not an option. so from what i can tell, given the laws where i live it's either find a prescription drug that can cope with my anxiety or do nothing at all and go back to having thoughts of self harm and suicidal tendencies.

weed helps most for my ocd because it actually changes the way i look at my rituals and often times i don't feel the need to give in to the compulsions. script drugs just try and calm me down after i've reached anxiety level 100 and need something to put me to rest.

and yeah i do mindfulness and see a psychologist but that shit's $200 an hour and i don't make enough money to go as often as i'd like. the free govt funded ones are complete shit, i've been to a few and they just hand you a list of 10 drugs to try for 3-4 months at a time until you find one you like. not the road to recovery imo.

I was taking high dosages of it, and snorting it for good measure too, but then I started having midnight craft projects . I haulted my abuse of that drug when I discovered that I got busy with an exacto knife while blacked out and diced up tons of irreplaceable photos. then gluing photo chunks together (on top of each other in piles) and hiding them all throughout my house on really high shelves. One shelf I reached I know for a fact I needed to get a ladder for, and that freaks me out more than anything.

BTW I also was on Vyvanse, but my insurance kicked it out due to heavyhanded costs for the un-genericable drug. So if you WANT addys, tell him that you got a warning of discontinuation of the drug from your healthcare provider unless an alternative is met -- and the ONLY thing that comes close is Adders

You should absolutely taper off. NEVER go cold turkey from benzos unless you're on a very low dose. And even then, my non-medical but experienced advice would be to cut your pills in half for a week or two before going totally off.

i'm reading wiki on it and i guess quitting cold turkey is not a good idea? should i just gradually take less doses until i'm down to just 5mg a day? obviously will consult my doctor but if anyone has advice right now i'd appreciate it just for piece of mind.

Valium is an incredibly weak (but quite lovely) benzo. At 10mg a day on average I suspect you could cold turkey with not much more than a case of insomnia for a few days. I was taking an equivalent dose of Ativan every day for a couple years and stopped cold turkey with no problems.
