English literature teacher.

Pro: positive influence with students, feel like I'm helping kids improve

Cons: almost everything else; grading, dealing with abusive/neglectful/ignorant/absent parents, the pay is absolutely terrible for the amount of work I obsess over, evaluation system sucks, behavior problems, lack of freedom/autonomy, politics really does affect your job every year financially or otherwise, kids often admit your own job sucks and my kids don't understand why I care so much, physically/mentally/emotionally draining job, work almost never stays at work, etc.

I love being a teacher. I was born got this, I'm highly rated/valued, but goddamn this job is fucking hard and it's always full of bullshit. I really wish I made more money so it wasn't so stressful for me on a personal level.

NEET and freelance writer.

I studied neuroscience for a while and am currently on break from university. I'll take classes again in May or September. Managed a small trucking company for two years.

Spent most of 2016 traveling. I was in India from December 2015 until February 2016, with ten days in Thailand. Went to Canada a handful of times and then Costa Rica and Nicaragua from May until June. Quit my trucking office job in July after breaking up with my GF of two years, used $1k in Delta Dollars to buy a ticket to India, and went back from then until December of this year.

Just got back home.

Like I said, mostly freelance writing. I did a lot of odd jobs to make ends meet in India. Was in a few television advertisements, worked as a club promoter (brought white people to clubs), and did advertisements and blog writing for some companies.

Funnily enough - actual investing is probably the one thing we don't do.

Googled the attached, seemed good enough for an overview of the structure.

Private side = corporate finance / transaction advisory = M&A, ECM, DCM. The actual clients are corporations.

Public side = market making, trade facilitation = Sales, Trading & Research. The actual clients are institutional investors and fund managers.

Google any of the sub-headings for more info.

Not really possible. Your attention span needs to last more than a few seconds if you want to grasp it.

Unfortunately that's too long for most, hence investment banking is shrouded in conspiracy.

the hard part is learning the enterprise IT software like Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft Sharepoint, Flexera Admin Studio, Wise Package Studio.. because unless you're at a company already using those tools it's nearly impossible to learn them. They're hella expensive and require enterprise level hardware to install them. Try to get a job on a helpdesk internally at some company and work your way up.

Nope white male.

My stepdad got me it as a first job, foreman of an electric company so he knew the higher ups and stuff.

Worked there for 2 years then quit to go to a Verizon Wireless call center, quit from there, worked some other jobs and went back. Easiest 9.25/hr of my life is why I went back. I can afford bills + rent and a little bit of food. And the regulars are decent to chat up.

Get there, stand around for 2-3 hours, stock the cooler, stock the alcohol, clean the grills, change trash, count cigarette cartons and go home. So easy. Every new person we get thinks it's hard (probably cause they're all straight out of high school, idiots)

Gonna use the job to pay for college hopefully since they cover 1k of tuition. Just waiting on some other aspects of life to improve.

Cons only seeing your spouse for an hour or two a day and 1 day a week.
>>
>>716804614
yes it's overpriced, but most people don't know that. It costs $40 to install RAM, which takes like 10 minutes on the hard computers where you have to remove the bottom, and 10 seconds on the easy ones with a hatch. The reason it costs that is for the people who don't know how easy it is to make up for the money we don't from the people who do know.

Phone salesman

This year I made $38k

Pros: I work for a retailer, so I don't have to deal with following all the same rules and can charge pretty much whatever I want for certain things. (I gave someone an 8gb sd card for $50 last week). Plus if I'm not in the mood to deal with grandma's tech issues I can just send them to a corporate store which is usually what I do if they didn't buy anything from me or are not going to.

Cons: most of my income is from commission and that gets a little stressful considering how broken our structure is.
>>
State accountant

Pros. Most people leave you alone. 99 percent of the time you don't have to deal with the public. The calculations aren't that hard.

Cons. Extreme political corruption. People are promoted to jobs they don't know how to do because they know someone or are related to someone. You end up redoing people's work for them, even people at double your pay grade that can't add a line of numbers. I've watched 3 early 20s somethings kiddos become office techs then promoted every year based on family ties. Believe me, there is no such thing as equal opportunity, and 9/10 state jobs you apply for are only advertised because they are legally required to post an ad and make it look like they are being impartial. Your only real shot is if you have a stem degree or the manager just happened to run out of cronies to stuff the ranks.
