For that style of music I'd say get the Gretsch but you're really stuck there until you can get another guitar. I'd say to get a fender since it's kind of in the middle. I have a strat with a hot rails pick up. So that I can still get some decent cleans on the fender pickups and some decent lead tones on the seymour.

OP, this week, I just got a used Ibanez Artcore, which is basically an affordable version of a classic Gretsch......I got it for under $300 with a hard shell case.

I've been gretsch obsessed my whole life but this is a much more sensible purchase right now.
