I genuinely have no horse in this race, but I'd like to hear what his detractors AND supporters think about his social media output.
>>
>>716258538
I fit into neither of those categories and I think his Twitter is a form of lunacy

You'll get a yeast infection using shortening, fella - try salted butter, as saline environments are not helpful for fungus. Happy Holidays.

it's this generations fire-side chat and its a reason he won
>>
>>716259278
Impeachment? I don't know, seems like Baldwin may have secreted one decent joke in that fucking dire SNL sketch - Impeaching Trump makes Pence the fucking Pres. And that fucker is truly scary - not Tweeting at 3am about trivial shit scary, but 2burn the fags and the hippies" scary. He got a faraway look in his eyes, as if he were staring at huge, black palls of smoke on a horizon...

There's absolutely no doubt in my mind that he's the most petty, narcissistic, petulant, crass, unsophisticated president we've ever had -- and that's really saying something, because he has some stiff competition in a few of those areas.

Unfortunately, there are tens of millions of utter morons who are very easily manipulated, and they find his bombastic persona and penchant for hyperbole appealing.

Yeah, looks that way - it's a case of waiting until he causes a big enough "Uh-Oh! Spaghetti-Oh's!" for them to get the fuck rid of him. Going to be fun waiting to see what it is, I guess.
>>
>>716260106
As a statement, I completely agree with the point made - A politician should care more about the will of the people than the acclaim of actors and musicians, it's true.

But the fact he's responding like a 13yo girl who just got snubbed by her friends for a trip to the mall is NOT a good look for one of the most responsible men in the world. He's coing across like a fucking man-child, and his brashness is quickly fading into petulance and contrarianism - especially now he's draining the pond by filling it with scum and seeing how long the banks take to burst.

Well, thats just like, your opinion, man.
Look at it this way: Trump was my choice for the flagbearer. I seriously felt that he would have no chance of defeating the Bern. I gave up hope, and steeled myself for Obama's third term. However, history took a much different turn when Shillary colluded with the DNC to steal Bernie and his supporters any chance of carrying the torch for the Democratic party. Hillary managed to lose to the worst candidate the Republicans could have possibly put up. You can blame Clinton Corp and the DNC for the next 4 years.

It's not that she lost, but rather the fact that we now have a volatile child in office who's appointing a lot of dangerous people to his cabinet.

So, you can continue the whole "huhuhu butthurt libtards" bullshit all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that unless you're a wealthy business owner, you're not going to benefit one iota from his one term.

Was that an attempt at deflection? Because I don't think the thread was about whether the British people were capable of stupid decisions - unless I misunderstood.

As it happens, I was and still am in favoour of Brexit as I think the whole European project is doomed to fail in a few years, and our leaving may make them reform it into the sort of economic community we first joined and want to belong to. Just a pity they didn't want to do that when Cameron tried to negotiate.

Citation for my views on why it will fail? Italy is now having to bail out the oldest bank, Greece is still a basket case with default kicked down the road and the Germans are beginning tom regret their asylum policy. It only needs one or two more populist party wins in the up coming election rounds (Netherlands, or France?) and the pack of cards will collapse, kicking the Eurocrats into touch and forcing reform.

He's an embarrassment to the country and his twitter account specifically shows him to be a completely narcissistic, self-serving asshole.

The problem is that if (when) he says stupid shit on twitter that could possible start a conflict with another country our options are to double down (which Trump seems to be a fan of) or to admit to the rest of the world that you can't listen to what our leader says because he doesn't know what he's saying, which diminishes our standing with other countries.

Anyone notice how right wingers and conservatives also personally attack liberals and people from the left as if they are a collective? For example "When will the left stop defending is Islam?" Or "Why do the left control the media?" I never actually see liberals collectively label the right.

Working toward the goal at least slows down the process. And the more of these weapons you make, the more you think about using them.

Countries have nuclear weapons. We have enough to destroy the world. We have already reached the point of mutually assured destruction. More weapons just make a shaky situation even more unstable.

2 former goldman sachsites: Steven Mnuchin and Gary Cohn

"After eight years as the face of Wall Street greed and the target of public scorn, the bankers at Goldman Sachs can be cheerful again. Not only has Trump’s election stoked hopes for looser regulatory policies that will make it easier for banks to take bigger risks and book fatter profits, but Goldman also appears to have regained its place at the nexus between Wall Street and Washington. After being largely cut out of the federal government during the Obama years, with few of its alums tapped for big jobs, Goldman is starting to live up to its former nickname, Government Sachs."

"The bottom line: Goldman Sachs stands to be among Wall Street’s biggest beneficiaries of a Trump administration."

You could also look at it the other way. It would be respectful to accept the salary (or use it to create a charity or some shit) as a sign of respect for the job that you are accepting. Not accepting a salary for a guy that already seems not all that interested in doing the actual job makes him look even less interested in the job.

This is more a neutral issue. I think he's an asshole and a detriment to the country but what he does with the salary doesn't really sway that opinion much either way.

This should not be a political issue, and I think it's fairly obvious why nearly 100% of Republicans are either skeptics or deniers -- fossil fuel companies are Republicans biggest donors. Just follow the money.
>>
>>716268602
I don't know what you're talking about. Did a few scientists warn of an ice age?
>>
>>716268602
No sensible people predicted an ice age. By its very nature climate shift will be unpredicatable because we don't exactly have anything to base it on.

What we do have is multiple fields of in depth scientific study telling us that we are affecting the composition of the oceans and atmosphere, releasing carbon which is ordinarily trapped in the ground in massive quantities not seen since early volcanic periods on earth when it was much warmer.

Even if they said 'maybe nothing will happpen' I don't think its a wise path to go down.
>>
>>716268105
Did you ever look at the raw data yourself you fucking dolt? Did you see the "adjustments" they're making to the readings? Did you see the reaction to that paper, where instead of refuting it they tried to stop it from being published?

The problem is that climate change is seen as a slow moving problem. It's not really an issue for the next few decades (I don't know that that is really even true any more). So people instead focus on creating jobs.
I think a lot of people would say that an extra 1,000 jobs today is better than an extra 3" of sea level 20 years from now. They are wrong, but I think a lot of people believe that.

>>716258538
Trumps twitter, is a strong tool.

Consider him not tweeting, then he would need the media to help him communicate his ideas.
Do a press interview etc.
And nearly all the media portrait him as some kind of stupid hitler.
And will only let things through which is in the interest of their rich owners.
The lost of power over a president for them is the main reason you see trumps use of twitter attacked that much.

If you want any chance for him to do non-establishment politics he need his own communication channels.
And he needs a counter narrative.
Which he is using twitter for.

Look at his tweets, they are either:
"Those fuckheads say shit about me but do have other motives"
"I want stuff xy because of z"
or
"Let's threaten some entity I will have negotiations with, so that they shit themself and I get better results"

It's very precise stuff in fool's clothing.
